I'll pop a link in the old one so you know where to find safe haven. I have tried to clear out some space by getting rid of the ohp and vcr trolley and gin is hidden behind the sick sand bucket.

This week has definitely gone far too fast. I've loved being at home with new puppy, although the early mornings are killing me (it was 5:30 this morning). My parents are coming this afternoon.

motherrunner · 04/06/2021 08:03

It’s DH who suffers from anaemia here - runs in his family and my own children have had periods of it too so we have to monitor their diet carefully (not easy for ASD DS who lives on fresh air). @Piggy have you been referred to a dietician to see if they can offer advice?

ChloeDecker · 04/06/2021 08:05

I also like to give my kid that Arla Big Milk that has iron added to it because I know how it feels to be low on iron (I take Floradix weekly) and it definitely helps when you have picky eaters as children!
Hope your doctor sorts this out soon Piggy

Piggywaspushed · 04/06/2021 08:05

No mother. I know what the issues are tbh. I just need to eat properly. Or more properly.

motherrunner · 04/06/2021 08:14

@Piggy. It’s so tough. I see DH struggle sometimes. When he’s having a bout ((usually when he’s stressed so over trains) he says it’s like wading through treacle. Look after yourself!

DreamingofBrie · 04/06/2021 08:35

Hi everyone,
We'll need a new broom cupboard soon! Hope you get to the bottom of your tiredness, piggy. Gavin Williamson's report made me laugh Grin.

I've got Greece booked mid-July 😭, one of the islands but not those currently listed as ok on the government website. It's been rolled over from last year. Dh still keen to go if we can, but cost of testing and the thought of having to get through the airports with the 3 dc are stressing me out already. Also not keen on having to self isolate on our return. Ugh.

TheHoneyBadger · 04/06/2021 08:41

Enjoyed gav’s report.

Piggy I do know that RA is an autoimmune disease/disorder which I remember surprised me and I have seen people claiming to have overcome it with diet. Jordan Peterson’s daughter ate nothing but beef and claims that cured it and she could gradually eat other food groups Confused I went down some rabbit holes when they thought I might have autoimmune based inflammatory bowel disease.

Was it inflammation markers they found with the blood test? I’d get some decent probiotics as a starting point as I’m guessing your gut biome is far from diverse on that diet.

@DreamingofBrie I moved my Ibiza summer 2020 holiday again to next year as couldn’t face the testing charges or the whole rigmarole of travelling with restrictions. Back to Devon for us! Here’s hoping for summer 2022 😆

TheHoneyBadger · 04/06/2021 08:44

It sucks Dreaming. It’s still viable on amber but the price of all of the mandatory testing for 5 of you must be steep.

@motherrunner, we went to the Highlands instead last year, not quite the same as Greece but I had fun, even if the dc didn't!

I think I'm going to try and persuade dh to roll it over again - it doesn't sound relaxing in the slightest to me!

Piggywaspushed · 04/06/2021 08:51

Yes, inflammation markers. I wrote down the number 39.7. Because I am not having many symptoms GP is leaving it until follow up bloods.

The internet is very confusing on this must say.

noblegiraffe · 04/06/2021 09:05

I do eat a bit more than bread. I also eat toast.

I’ve got some news for you about toast, piggy!

Do you not eat, y’know, dinners? Man cannot live on bread alone... I can’t fathom how you manage to teach.

TheHoneyBadger · 04/06/2021 09:12

Do you like eggs? Boil eggs, put in fridge door and eat a couple each day that would be a start.

Morning all!
I hope you get some answers and feel better soon, Piggy. Taking a vitamin/iron supplement can't hurt while you wait.

I've been back on the low carb wagon this week (it's so much easier in the holidays!) and feel much better for it. No idea if I've lost weight as I am trying to stay off the scales, but I feel as if one of my many chins is subsiding. I need to try and work out how to keep off the sugar in term time.

I am off out to see an old friend today - a long drive but worth it as we haven't seen each other in person for a few years, even though we talk on the phone at least once a week.

MsAwesomeDragon · 04/06/2021 09:15

My mum and sister both have arthritis. It's an autoimmune disease, often linked to other autoimmune diseases like diabetes. My mum has only been affected in the base of her spine meaning she can't sit for a long time, she has to keep moving about regularly. My sister is apparently very young to start with it, as she's only just 40, but it's affecting one shoulder, the one she has injured a few times. Diet helps, but they are both diabetic so they need to eat a healthy diet anyway (I'm not sure either of them actually manage it though).

Piggywaspushed · 04/06/2021 09:34

I don't like eggs a lot , no. But do eat them from time to time. Had an omelette yesterday.

Tbh noble, I eat meals at the weekends and am forced to during school hols but don't share DH's taste in food and don't really like meant. I'd happily eta just pasta every day. But during the school week , I eat cereal (for lunch!) and toast. I know it's shit but it's ancient issues. I'll be better now it's summer as I eat a lot more fruit and salad.

Piggywaspushed · 04/06/2021 09:35

I don't have diabetes at least which I also wouldn't have been surprised about. I eat sweets a fair amount. When not eating ice.

Piggywaspushed · 04/06/2021 09:36

meat not meant!

WhenSheWasBad · 04/06/2021 09:39

That sounds vile. I’ll eat most things but hard boils eggs are awful. Hope your bloods improve soon piggy

I’ll never understand my dh. According to him, it’s a lovely day today. So we should take the kids to the cinema. Confused

LOL

noblegiraffe · 04/06/2021 09:45

Did you see that on Question Time, piggy? twitter.com/bbcquestiontime/status/1400571125260763137?s=21

Trying to frame kids breaking into school at the weekend as a joy of learning is a bit of a stretch.

TheHoneyBadger · 04/06/2021 09:45

Eggs are wonderful!

There is a broom cupboard 3 if needed, guessing we'll have a staffroom before then but just in case

I've had food issues and depression issues that led to not eating. Things like boiled eggs in the fridge door, ready to eat oily fish, brazil nuts by the kettle, avocados etc have saved me from malnutrition before when I was depressed with no appetite and would briefly glimpse hunger only to walk into the kitchen and not have the energy to decide what to eat. Having nutrient dense easy to grab foods can be very handy.

Yes, I saw it noble. Eye rolls went into overdrive.
