I'll pop a link in the old one so you know where to find safe haven. I have tried to clear out some space by getting rid of the ohp and vcr trolley and gin is hidden behind the sick sand bucket.

Anyway as I was saying, someone explain Triple Shift to me.

MrsHamlet · 01/02/2021 16:33

Triple shit is emails from three SLT which slightly contradict each other - happens a lot. The other, I don't know. Sounds clever though!

MrsHamlet · 01/02/2021 16:59

We're not setting hwk for ks3 at the moment but everyone else is getting it.
Just picked up a whiny email from a lazy top set boy's parent.... I'm working him too hard, but they can reassure me that he's capable of his grade 9. Hmmmmm. He's done nothing this term and did nothing from March til summer, so I'm less sure.

JanuaryChill · 01/02/2021 17:05

MrsH we can always count on you to provide the comedy, in various ways 😆

JanuaryChill · 01/02/2021 17:10

When I was an NQT, my mentor noted that I liked to amuse myself in lessons. I still do.

I adopted one of my lines from a student who, when I said "Romans were apparently very superstitious" whacked his hand up and asked "like Stevie Wonder, miss?" I use that one whenever I can, except I often have to explain it now.
Sigh

Piggywaspushed · 01/02/2021 17:22

I did a whole Triple Shift thing at the end of the last staffroom for you january...

Are you going to name change??

Piggywaspushed · 01/02/2021 17:23

Oh hahaa... now I have just seen your answer here!!

Must stop reading things in the wrong order!

Piggywaspushed · 01/02/2021 17:24

EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 01/02/2021 17:34

So is it quadruple shift when you are also the carer for elderly DPs and DPILs?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 01/02/2021 17:56

while there are more women working the majority of responsibility for children is still falling to women

Yep. My partner and I mostly have a 50/50 split on everything childcare and household. Have done since the day I stopped breastfeeding. But this lockdown, my job is the one that gives the child a school place if we want it. When I asked what he wanted to do he said 'depends how you're going to be able to manage your job around teaching her too'. Well Mr, how about how you're going to manage YOUR job around teaching her too.

I've subtley worked it/scheduled my live lessons so he's doing all the homeschooling. Serves him right for a dick comment.

chocolateisavegetable · 01/02/2021 19:10

Evening all. Another Monday done. Mental Health week for the kids - I'm now wondering when ours is, but I shan't hold my breath ...

TheHoneyBadger · 01/02/2021 19:16

Ha at gert lush. Love dialects and accents. My friend lives in Bristol so we play with that one a fair bit. Off to read the end of the staff room. Had a bit of an after work nap 💤

I think it's in October half term in 2075.

MrsHamlet · 01/02/2021 19:23

I'm from Glawster, home of the tailor and lardy cake... but I live in the north where no one appreciates such delicacies 🤣

mrbensbaker · 01/02/2021 19:26

A long way up the road then. I used to live in Gloucester, I left after I'd learnt to drive - I think they'd had enough of me at that point.

namechangedyetagain · 01/02/2021 19:28

Just how is it only Monday???
I feel my mental health is hanging by a thread. I have so much on my to do list and yet no blooming energy to get it done.

chocolateisavegetable · 01/02/2021 19:36

I hear you namechanged Flowers

MsAwesomeDragon · 01/02/2021 19:40

I'm here. Just in time for cake apparently 🤣

I had my first disruptive child on a live lesson today. He logged into teams on a second device, called himself the name of another kid in the class so I let him in from the lobby, then screeched through his mic at us. I have uninvited him from my next lesson and informed his hoy about it, but I imagine he will deny it and I don't actually have any proof it was him (it definitely was though!)
