You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

In the other staffroom, there is rhubarb & ginger gin, along with tea and coffee.

@CallmeAngelina stay strong

Our republic thread has been threatened in the past by MNHQ. But they probably need us more than we need them. After all there is the TES escape hatch 🐣

Although, not sure how other 'good' parents would respond to that? they bleat on about social disadvantage but they don't mean it, if the think Jonty and Jemima will get less that Bob.

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/05/2020 14:28

I actually think the people who moan the most at my school will be the parents of the kids invited in. They won't want/be able to get them there if the school buses aren't running. Some of them are walking distance, but most are in little villages or on farms.

The majority of our parents are content enough with the provision of remote learning and are quite risk averse, so would prefer that to continue.

Piggywaspushed · 20/05/2020 14:29

hahahahahhahhahaha.
What a fucking hypocrite

(I rarely swear! unlike Angelina)

LolaSmiles · 20/05/2020 14:31

I'm not sure how MNHQ can take an issue with teachers on a teacher thread without having to come out saying they are happy with the goady threads because they're fodder for so called journalists to add their right wing campaign against schools.

Given the daffs were considered mean by some, teachers having a thread in the staff room is mean, what next?

Saucery · 20/05/2020 14:38

I’m sure MNHQ are perfectly happy for teachers to be targeted on here and the posts by them lifted by the likes of the DM. It means more clicks, more members, more revenue. They couldn’t give a shit about anything else, including the mental health of school staff on here.

FrippEnos · 20/05/2020 14:49

I suppose its the difference between loosing a free commodity/resource and a vocal section of their target clientele.

LolaSmiles · 20/05/2020 14:51

I don't think it needs to be either/or.

Goady and inflammatory threads are zapped regularly for not being in the spirit. I don't see why some of the school ones are any different.

Threads where people are negative about some celebrities and public figures get deleted, but not ones where posters are routinely goaded.

FrippEnos · 20/05/2020 15:08

LolaSmiles

Its been an issue with the site for a long time.

FWR has often called for banned posters to be reinstated because they have been goaded on threads then kicked off when they break.

TheHoneyBadger · 20/05/2020 15:11

Oh dear Adonis

Mistressiggi · 20/05/2020 15:12

Someone compared it to bullying on another thread and at first I was thinking oh it can't be like that, there's no imbalance or power - but the drip drip effect of being told you are crap and having lots of people saying this not just one or two posters you could ignore, is hard to deal with. Obviously we have the option to leave MN but I've been on here for over ten years and it's really my "hobby" in many ways, it's a lot to leave, and I think if I do I wouldn't be returning when this is over and the badgers have moved on to someone else.

Mistressiggi · 20/05/2020 15:12

Bashers. Badgers have done nothing Blush

ChloeDecker · 20/05/2020 15:15

Bashers. Badgers have done nothing

Maybe we need to get Brian May to write a song for us. Now that really would cheer me up!

CallmeAngelina · 20/05/2020 15:17

Well there's a raging goady fucker busy on the criticism thread right now who really should be reported for trolling. I would do it myself, but might get told off for the wrong "tone."

TheHoneyBadger · 20/05/2020 15:17

Don’t blame the badgers. Bullying doesn’t need a power differential so much as regularity and pervasiveness.

ChloeDecker · 20/05/2020 15:17

having lots of people saying this

It really is mostly the same few posters over and over again though. I do get entertained by playing bingo on these threads to note how quickly, the same posters pop up as if it is their first ever post on the matter. I usually get at least 6!

LolaSmiles · 20/05/2020 15:26

We could play bingo.

Squares include:
What ARE teachers doing all day?

I'm not teacher bashing, but (insert generalisations here)

Teachers should do their jobs

Go back in August / cancel the holidays because teachers have already had theirs

But the private schools...

Zoom. Bloody Zoom.

What's with the daffodils?

The daffodils are a way of silencing anyone who doesn't worship teachers

Someone suggests speaking to school directly instead of fuming on Mumsnet, and gets told they must think nobody should criticise schools. (No I don't understand the logic either)

Someone challenges a generalisation. Reply: 'so nobody can ask any questions about schools know without being accused of teacher bashing' (insert faux naïve look here)

In the real world...

Disadvantaged students being cited to justify some course of action that only benefits middle class families
Think - I don't see why we can't have live lessons on Google classroom. The gap between disadvantaged children and others is only getting bigger and bigger. What do you mean many families don't have a device per person and enough areas in the house to do live lessons?

A claim about what unions have said that they actually haven't said

Piggywaspushed · 20/05/2020 15:29

How about : What do you imagine will be different in September. Head tilt.

CallmeAngelina · 20/05/2020 15:35

Why are teachers being paid to do nothing

Mistressiggi · 20/05/2020 15:36

Although entirely irrelevant - couldn't be a teacher bingo card without a comment about the paid holidays could it? Smile

LolaSmiles · 20/05/2020 15:52

Teachers must be worshipped on Mumsnet / you can never say anything negative about teachers on Mumsnet / insert variations of

The response to the adonis tweet is comedy gold.

pinkrocker · 20/05/2020 16:17

@LolaSmiles damn right we should be worshipped by mortals GrinGrin
@CallmeAngelina I've read (most) of the latest thread of bingo. Is that the one where you got mentioned in the DF? Sorry I didn't meant to make or mention a TAAT!

ChloeDecker · 20/05/2020 16:25

Yay! One of my university professors gave a couple of excellent replies on the Twitter Adonis thread. Feeling very proud and nostalgic!
