You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

In the other staffroom, there is rhubarb & ginger gin, along with tea and coffee.

A wide ranging sexual deviant vocabulary at that!!

Art is a dangerous subject!

They wanted to just go to 'same for everyone'. But that means all you're doing is reading a script. How boring! Where's the skill? Question was, if the job is less fun, but the children learn more (because way of delivery), then is that a reasonable pay off?

I don't understand this, what was their point?

Concrete is brilliant!

I think the reasoning was that individual schools have individual cohorts and the curriculum can be designed to meet their needs. Down side is we have children across the county getting very different curriculums, unless schools are buying into schemes.

I still remember my A Level art teacher giving me a book of his to read and then going "Oh no! sorry, Egon Schielle!"
Which of course sent me straight to the library. I could just google it now, of course. So much better when you had to really look for stuff.

Hmmm, the DfE seem to have changed their guidance to parents already. They have removed the paragraph I pasted on here yesterday and changed the date (which was 5th May wasn’t it Piggy?). They couldn’t be hanging schools out to dry perchance!!???

Educational activities could also be created in a range of formats, so that they are accessible to all, reducing the risk of pupils being left behind.

Pupils are more likely to have access to mobile phones than laptops or computers, so using formats (like PDFs) that can be viewed on mobile devices can improve access to resources. Other schools have identified teaching resources that can be easily printed and posted.

With children spending more time online, it’s important that schools and colleges are considering online safety as they plan and design their teaching activities.

“The key is to make sure that pupils have the means to do what you’re asking them to do”, said Steve Rollett at the Association of School and College Leaders. “This challenge might also be met by ensuring that some learning activities can be done without online access.”

I know it’s a hideous rag, but just saw this and am cross.

So, is that going to be the outcome of ‘the science’ today?

Teachers are at no more risk than other key workers?

The same key workers that can work in environments with social distancing, gloves and masks?

And why is that bloody teacher wearing a mask when we shouldn’t need them?

We are being thrown under a bus here.

That is what I mentioned before : GB said 'other similar professionals'

That's an interpretation of his words. I do think he should clarify because I think of 'similar professionals' as university lecturers, say.

Piggywaspushed · 22/05/2020 10:45

That's quite useful for a school that wants to force online live lessons though chloe

Funnily enough, I can't read pdfs on my phone!

*@StaffAssociationRepresentative
We need a new thread! (please?)

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 22/05/2020 11:36

@CallmeAngelina - your wish is my command

I am so happy it is half-term - both I and the kids are exhausted from all this online teaching malarky.

Looking forward to the cheeseboard later ...
