You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

In the other staffroom, there is rhubarb & ginger gin, along with tea and coffee.

@CallmeAngelina if they quote me from that I wonder what I'll be called. Drunk teacher ?

CallmeAngelina · 20/05/2020 12:21

My shame is complete; deleted and threatened with suspension yesterday, and quoted in the Mail today.

SansaSnark · 20/05/2020 12:22

Oh ffs! I've ended up being quoted in the Daily Fucking Mail!!! They've had a field day cherry-picking all the teacher-bashing posts they can find on the "no criticism" thread and apparently I "moaned" when making a perfectly sensible point about us being hung out to dry by the government.
Time for a name-change, I think.

Can you make a complaint about being misrepresented?

Asuitablecat · 20/05/2020 12:23

honeybee I've got loads of stuff on af if he gets stuck.

My kids are doing naff all today. I know they work better in school. Dd certainly doesn t leave tasks half finished and go snd trampoline! But they always end up doing it.

I am.worried about lack.of engagement with my high school classes though.

SansaSnark · 20/05/2020 12:23

Mumsnet, not that they will, ought to do more to protect people from being quoted without permission in newspapers.

RigaBalsam · 20/05/2020 12:24

My shame is complete; deleted and threatened with suspension yesterday, and quoted in the Mail today.

Hugs. Be comical if it wasn't so sad.

Piggywaspushed · 20/05/2020 12:25

I'd say that's a badge of honour being quoted in the Fail to represent everything they stand against.

starrynight19 · 20/05/2020 12:28

CallmeAngelina wow how low can that rag really go Sad

FrippEnos · 20/05/2020 12:39

CallmeAngelina

and threatened with suspension yesterday.

That is comical given what they have allowed to happen.

FlamingoAndJohn · 20/05/2020 12:48

Can you link to the Fail article, or even screen shot it?

Piggywaspushed · 20/05/2020 12:49

Just stay off the Nasty Threads : they will just end up being the thing they most deride - an echo chamber and the threads will fizzle out.

ChloeDecker · 20/05/2020 12:54

On the upside, a really touching thread started by a junior doctor in AIBU thanking teachers. Really really thoughtful.
Even that is being hijacked though..

TheHoneyBadger · 20/05/2020 13:00

Thanks Acat Smile

I want to see the dm article

RigaBalsam · 20/05/2020 13:01

Agree with this. Leave them to their back slapping.

Piggywaspushed · 20/05/2020 13:03

I can't see that thread chloe?

Piggywaspushed · 20/05/2020 13:04

Please don't put the Fail article on here!

I turned over all the copies in Sainsburys today !

LolaSmiles · 20/05/2020 13:05

The worrying thing is that it's increasingly difficult to answer the most genuine posters with questions because the goady ones simply can't stand any sensible and measured advice.

Saucery · 20/05/2020 13:05

Article is the same old frothy shite from a woman-hating rag.
How I wish I worked in one of the 13 local authorities that have refused to order schools to open.

This week I was in a small classroom with 20 children and 4 adults. Opened windows, was told “we don’t want to be cold” and they were shut. All sharing colouring, sticking, writing resources, not socially distanced one bit. Some children ran or wandered into ‘clean’ areas of the school.
That is going to be the reality. Parents should be aware of this and judge accordingly if it is safe for their dc to attend and for the adults in their households.

ChloeDecker · 20/05/2020 13:08

Here you go Piggy! (Frightened to post on any now in case of being misrepresented in the news!)

TheHoneyBadger · 20/05/2020 13:25

Oh the DM article is funny. No right minded person would see anything bad in your post CallMe-be glad it wasn’t one of your deleted ones Grin. The parent swearing about f’ing crystal balls comes off as demented.

TheHoneyBadger · 20/05/2020 13:27

And a persons hearsay account of how she felt as a result of alleged atmosphere on an undisclosed WhatsApp chat counts counts as news?

Definitely time for a complete overhaul of the education system to actually focus on education.

Appuskidu · 20/05/2020 13:38

So, Boris has said that Track and Trace will definitely be ready for schools opening.

Do we now presume that schools have no choice but to listen, accept this and open on June 1st, even though he’s a proven liar and hasn’t actually met any other target he’s set?!

Wouldn’t it be better to wait till 15th and see how that T+T is working out??

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/05/2020 13:41

I still don't know our plan for year 10 and 12, but I've been asked for a list of my priority pupils "if we can open for some face to face contact with those yeargroup". So it doesn't look like we're planning for whole yeargroup teaching, but getting those pupils in who are struggling the most with remote learning. I'll be interested to see what the head actually comes up with.

SansaSnark · 20/05/2020 13:57

Wouldn’t it be better to wait till 15th and see how that T+T is working out??

It would if they actually cared about teacher/child safety, but IMO they don't.

They want to get the economy moving again, get people to stop blaming them for schools being closed, and perhaps to use some groups of children as an experiment to see how they affect the spread of Covid-19.

FrippEnos · 20/05/2020 14:00

It will be interesting to see who remembers that the 1st June wasn't a set date for every school to be back.

But a target to start from.
