The royal family
MissMoneyFairy · Today 09:46

They just can't help themselves, they didn't have the decency to tell KC they were returning to the UK. No one believes them anymore.

AuntieBiotics · Today 09:49

Agree they can't help themselves. A dignified silence was the appropriate response. Or a statement saying that they welcome the king's clarification and please can the media just leave them alone to settle in with their kids.

Shit-stirring is never the right response. But George is in the headlines today as it's his first day at Eton and this overshadows the Sussexes somewhat.

I think Buckingham Palace were absolutely spot on issuing that statement, i imagine H&M don't really understand "not working Royal" so this is clarity ! They should be mortified that it had to be realeased.

MissMoneyFairy · Today 10:00

AlsomI think RAVEC are reviewing their security arrangements today, that will be another moanfest if they don't get state funded security.,

They don’t want the media to leave them alone. They’re the reason the media is all over them - the stories are coming directly from themselves.

AssassinsEyebrow · Today 10:05

I'm not particularly interested in the royals and don't get the hate for Harry & meghan, they seem nice enough if a little over-privileged as per most celebs & very rich people; but I don't understand why they've returned to the UK when they've repeatedly said its unsafe.

Is it a part of plan to force the security issue? If so then can they really be as unsafe as they claim?

Baffled.

AuntieBiotics · Today 10:08

I think they had hoped that with an ageing, unwell King, William/Kate and his ageing siblings doing the bulk of the work, they'd be welcomed back with open arms and start to be treated as working royals again, using the HRH titles and back into the full shebang. At least until William becomes King. But Charles has made it clear this is not on the table.

It's a weird move for sure. There is a lot of speculation that they will separate within the year, HArry remaining here with the children and Meghan back in California doing... something. Making jam and spilling her guts to Oprah, probably.

Oh typos in my post 😳

I can't imagine being that entitled and spoiled and be so unaware of your behaviour, that you are baffled at a public statement. They have to.know the reasons why ?

prejudiceandpride · Today 10:12

If they're surprised by something they already knew, then they clearly hoped for changes. This reaction from them confirms that this statement was designed to put them back in their box, rather than just simply clarifying matters.

AssassinsEyebrow · Today 10:15

@AuntieBiotics maybe, but that still doesn't make safe to me if they're as unsafe as they claim to be.

Not a chance in hell I'd consider moving my children to a place they weren't safe (unless forced to ie when war disrupts countries)! If that meant they couldn't have the schooling I wanted them to have then that would be very sad but I'd have to accept it as a consequence.

So either they have found a way to live here safely, in which case there presumably isn't a need for taxpayer funded security, or they've grossly exaggerated the risks, OR they don't care about the risks?

It can't be the latter because they genuinely come across as devoted parents.

It's also a bizarre time to move back to the UK, racism has increased horribly here. Why put meghan through that when she struggled so much before?

If for some reason they need a country other than the States to be their main residence then they're fortunate enough to be able to take their pick.

I thought he was aware? Tbh, I presume they have come back for him because of his health.

I think he was told on the Sunday, they moved back on the Wednesday and there was no prior discussion to that. I've no idea why they came back, waiting for them to say they don't feel safe or welcome so are going back to the USA but Trump doesn't want them either, they've burnt too many bridges.

HowardsWahey · Today 10:41

I don't know why so many people complain about the amount the royals cost us in tax. I bet EastEnders takes a bigger chunk of the licence fee, and the royals provide a far more entertaining soap opera.

Noelle101 · Today 10:55

I’d stay in sunny peaceful California if I were them

I tried to look into this, as I was also confused. It looks like he has issues with his US visa - he mentioned having taken drugs in his book which he hadn't declared when applying for his visa and this has caused him issues (or something..)

I doubt he has any problems with his visa and past drug-taking isn't a reason to deny someone a visa, otherwise all these British rock stars who'd taken far harder stuff than Harry ever did would never have been given residency in the US.

I think he always wanted to be in the UK, where he could be a faux royal or whatever he thinks he can do, and wants his kids to grow up British and kind of royal. Best to get them into school in the UK while they are still little. Also, the Invictus Games will be held in Birmingham in 2027 and he wants to get the most out of that.

Then surely they'd move to another country where they are safer? There are excellent schools in Europe, it isn't a binary choice of the UK vs the UK.

And if Harry was deported, their wealth means he could still be very much with his family. Yes they'd have to live with the inconvenient consequences of past behaviour & declarations but so do we all.

Yeah I totally get that. I also suspect he never felt at home in the US. But I'm bewildered why Meghan would? She is (pretty unfairly) hated here. If I were her I would never come back!
It could be that they're just be super supportive of each other, and she's doing it for him. Or there's some other reason. But I think she'll hate it, and end up moving back.

They've come back to reinforce their perceived royal status. And been slapped down by this letter. They haven't got royal status.

Motnight · Today 11:21

I expect every day brings a surprise for H and M.

Noelle101 · Today 11:25

Harry better get as much money from Daddy while he can because he won't get a penny from King William.

Once prince George and Charlotte are bit older, Harry will be old news. The press that he hates so much won't give him the time of the day.
