3 HaM fed bullshit down the SussexWhatsApp to see if the Mail would bite;
4 The Mail is up to something;
5 Someone else is playing games to do with HaM's obsession with RAVEC security.

There is plenty of precedent. Queen Alexandra's father was chosen to be the next king of Denmark by "the powers of Europe" after his second cousin the King died. And her brother William was elected by the Greek National Assembly to be King there, taking the name George. IIRC, he found out he was King by reading a bit of newspaper that his packed lunch had been wrapped in! And the Swedish royal family is descended from one of Napoleon's generals, Bernadotte, just in case you ever wondered why their name is French.

But wouldn't the DM only retract an article if it wasn't true? Surely they wouldn't just because the subject requested them to? I don't know about these things. It's very interesting.

FWIW I'll say again, and anyone of course is free to ignore, that the subject heading being the names of the Sussexes makes it quite clear that the correction is to/on behalf of the Sussexes.

If the Horners had requested the correction, they'd be the subject of the heading.
