I know I was responding to a poster who implied otherwise.

It was obvious to me that you were being sarcastic! But tone is hard to tell on here.

CameUnstuckNowTryingSalty · 28/08/2026 14:12

I've given up on this thread for now.

It is clear that there are other forces at play- it has been seen throughout the threads, the influx of new posters that vanish as quickly as they arrive.

That's not tin hat, I can predict accurately when new posters will arrive, and the methods used. Distract, derail, deflect.

According to Alexandra Pringle, ex ed-in-chief Bloombury publishing, (who was on Radio 4 the other day talking about the Jason Arday book) there is a distinction between memoir and autobiography: an autobiography is supposed to be strictly factual, a memoir is not.

"A memoir is a work of literature that is verging on fiction and you can't necessarily expect it to be a factual day-by-day or yearly account of somebody's life."

According to wiki Spare was a memoir, so perhaps that's how H got away with so much fiction in it.

Seems post-rationalisation to me, but it beats fact-checking!

Thank you I didn't know Spare was a memoir and not an autobiography (I paid no attention to it). yes the boundaries will be looser.

It still would have had a libel reading though, which was my point to a PP. There is absolutely no way Penguin Random House would have not had one, if only for insurance purposes. That doesn't mean there won't be stuff in there that isn't true, it's about it meeting certain legal tests, and the lawyers would have been very careful about anything to do with children specifically.

I know but as ever the derailing will fail. There will reliably be another whaaaaaaaaat moment for us to gather around.

I have a certain grudging respect for the triers, even when I want them to naff off.

The HAMs have threatened to sue Tom Sykes.

Harry knows a good lawyer!

Also, I read that Diana isn't really dead, she's living in Wigan.
The moon is made of cheese..

I went to the chippy last night and asked if I could had haddock and chips.
He said "Uh-huh-huh".
I waited for ages for my mushy peas but it turned out he'd left the building.

I cheered myself up by watching videos of those chaps with upside-down goldfish bowls on their heads kicking sand pretending they were on the moon.

Anyway, I'm scrolling down this while wandering down this local "FlatEarth Road".

It's fine so far oops....

Well they need to use him/her then rather than flamboyant lawyers who take on cases there is zero chance of winning!

I’m Spartacus and so’s my wife.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 28/08/2026 13:48

You have absolutely no idea if Harry has “enough”.

I think it's more than likely, based on the available credible evidence on his wealth and income, that he does, as opposed to the unsubstantiated presumption that Charles will pay for everything (or most things), which some like to imagine.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 28/08/2026 15:28

SweatyWarrenBetty · 28/08/2026 13:46

If the government needed to keep hopping about plucking suitable random members from the family tree, the monarchy would become a laughing stock. The government may officially choose the monarch, but it's telling that in modern times it's only veered off course once. They need to maintain the veneer of a hereditary monarchy.

Precisely, SweatyWarrenBetty, which is why some of us - while recognising how it's all supposed to work - are pointing out that how it actually does can be very different

Apologies for bringing Andrew into this, but parliament were "sovereign" when it came to dealing with him too, and all they had to say publicly was "It's a family matter".
Strictly speaking the people to address complaints about that to would be also be parliament, except does anyone seriously believe they did this uninfluenced and off their own bat?

And yes it would indeed look ridiculous if they were seen to scrabble around among the Windsor gene puddle for someone vaguely suitable, but then that's all the more reason for the RF to cover up for each other so they don't have to

bluegreygreen · 28/08/2026 15:30

What I would like to know is whether the risks increased to other members of the RF, after Harry's unwise court cases and multiple briefings about royal security.

Before all this happened, did the general public know anything about RF security, especially levels of security for specific people? I wonder how that has affected the number of spontaneous attempts at security breaches on their homes.
I'm assuming it won't have affected the risk from serious players, but could well have increased the risk from random people.

I think the poster may be being ironic and
referring to the bouffant buffoon as “a good lawyer” 😆

I am picturing the type of Americans you mention as the sort of people who collect china dolls?

Since we don't have a class structure the way the UK does it's hard to 'typify' them. The people who love a duchess may come from high and low income levels, may live in NYC or rural Alabama. They are more likely to be 'rank and file' Americans even if 'rich' rather than coming from the 'rich' whose names one sees in the papers.

Sorry I can't explain more clearly, I guess to paraphrase SCOTUS Justice Potter Stewart's statement on pornography..."I know one when I see one" even if I can't really explain why or who. lol

An interesting point, bluegreygreen, but not one I'd expect Harry to have thought of, or to care about if he had

I'm away ATM and dipping in, but rather a lot of the international crowd I'm surrounded by - on twigging my accent - have been saying how hilarious it is that the UK have allowed this ghastly pair back in at all, and don't care that it may have been hard to stop Harry at least

Interesting!!!

My first thought would be that it was the Horners who requested the correction, but given the heading of the item, I think it must have been HAM.

Maybe Harry doesn't want his father/others to think he was discussing the move first with people other than his father... ?

He's never shown him any courtesy or consideration before.

bluegreygreen · 28/08/2026 16:04

Oops - somebody messed up!

If they are saying the article 'wrongly claimed' someone got their facts wrong.

This was the archive link I used the other day https://archive.is/qOq7b - so the person at fault is presumably Vivek Chaudhary, senior reporter.

DandyAF · 28/08/2026 16:09

FenellaFeldman · 28/08/2026 16:02

I dunno, I'm speculating.

But I could see it being feasible that Harry is interested in having a relationship with his father now, especially given his father's health issues, or getting his feet back under the table a bit.

And I could also see it being feasible that if Charles is contributing financially to Harry being back, then it wouldn't be a good look for the public to think Harry told the Horners before Big Pa.

Guest385 · 28/08/2026 15:54

Why ask for this article to be corrected and not all the others we keep being told are not true?

Am I the only person who can't follow their PR strategy? I'd be responding to articles with far more serious suggestions than who they might have had tea with or asked for advice from.

He was still receiving money from Pa when they decided they had to leave the UK. It didn't stop him doing that and bad-mouthing the source of his money.

They may have asked for lots to be corrected, but this was the only one that the DM messed up on.
