I feel very sorry for the Waleses. To have that pair on their doorstep, must be so nerve wracking. They haven’t put a foot wrong and now this. Awful pair.

I suspect they have processed everything in a healthy way and will keep focusing on their family and their royal duties. I don't believe it will affect them at this point. The press of course will have a field day but press narratives are not the same thing as the reality the objects of their attention are living.

But surely she won’t legally be allowed to take the kids back to the US if they are settled here and their father is here? She’s trapped here til they’re 18 now - and it’s very strange that she has agreed to this given how unhappy she was last time she lived here.
The security angle is confusing too and the idea that Charles didn’t know about the plans until last Sunday is unbelievable.

But wont W and C have to be around them at some point. Even if H and M are not working royals there will be private events that H and M will want to go to Christmas etc

Yes but we all have to be around people who we may not get on with or who have hurt us. That's adult life and royal duty, think of the less that savoury world leaders they meet. William and Catherine are mature enough to be able to interact as necessary, as they have been with Andrew for years.

I know the RF have the mantra of “ never complain , never explain” but I think this is one of those rare occasions when a firm statement is issued ; yes they are back in the U.K. but not in any Royal capacity .

Every article I've read has said that, so I'm pretty sure there has been a briefing. From the palace line of view they have released a statement and nothing has changed so why release another one.

I believe IG are funding this as a huge last ditch PR sponsorship fundraising effort - maxing out royal adjacency.

I very much doubt that.

The IG is a pretty minor charity in the scheme of things. They don't have anything like the resources to pay for 4 people to live in luxury for a year.

Will HaM bow/curtsey though in public to C&C and W&C if and when they encounter each other? What will A&L be expected to do? They want royal, them’s the crazy rules.

Will H&M expect people to curtsey and bow to them and their children? Will they start using the ‘HRH’s again?

They wouldn't be expected to bow to W&C as they are of the same rank, HRH Prince and Princess.

I don't think members of the public bow or curtsy to royals other than maybe the King and Queen these days? I certainly wouldn't!

South northants is close to Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds. It is also cheaper.

I also am beginning to believe the marriage is on the rocks, it will likely be a slow ‘conscious uncoupling’ with 50/50 custody and Meghan commercially piggybacking on her kids newfound proximity to the RF.

Things must be really bad for them though, to return to a country they hated and where they are only surpassed in the unpopularity stakes by Harry’s uncle.

I’m pretty sure the ‘Prince & Princess of Wales’ title is of higher rank than ‘Prince/Princess Name’.
The late Queen arranged it so blood Princess (Anne, Alexandra) didn’t have to curtsey to Camilla when Charles & Camilla married . However that was simply an informal arrangement .
For example the only persons Diana had to curtesy to were The Queen, the Queen Mother & she did for Prince Philip.
Catherine by becoming Princess of Wales vaulted over Harry so they would both have to curtesy to her wether or not William was there.

Edit - and in private they do all still bow/curtsey. Remember, it’s not to the person, it’s showing respect to the position. It’s only on the first time you see someone that day or to the monarch when they are departing (like they all used to do when the Queen left Sandringham church after the service on Christmas Day.)

Yes this is the most strange aspect of it.

Once the children are in school it is difficult to remove them without both parents agreeing.

Unless full time mothering isn't her plan- I have a good friend who is a great mother - because the kids were in boarding school - she wouldn't have done well as a traditional mother. Children are all grown up and have a great relationship with her.

Doesn’t make sense that the kids are being removed from the one family member that’s been in their lives - Doria- to be closer to a great uncle they’ve met once?

To rip the kids from their family home, friends and school? Because they enjoyed their one weeks holiday to the UK? No something is up in their relationship.

I believe this is phase one and it’s to get the kids settled here in the UK. Meg couldn’t possibly handle living here….so that will be the excuse when they announce the split. The kids will continue to live here and she will return to the US and marry a rich old guy.

Ive just seen the line in People:

‘While the family’s longer-term residential plans remain unclear, PEOPLE understands Meghan will continue leading As Ever from the couple’s international bases, while Harry will be able to spend significantly more time supporting U.K.-based charities and patronages.’

It does seem an odd way of writing it. Why not just say, both of them will carry on their work, working from their international bases.
