This has all the hallmarks of a hasty decision. I reckon it's a combination of:

1. harry saying "I can't do it any more, it's my birthright, I belong there"
2. harry and meghan both saying, in the way they spat out "nobody owns the word "Royal", that nobody can stop them coming to the UK if they want, it's harry's and the children's ancestral home
3. harry bleating on about his children's birthrights
4. meghan being shunned, humiliated in the US and thinking she can leave it behind by leaving
5. needing to downsize quickly because of mounting bills: within 6 months we'll hear there's no point holding onto Montecito Mansion because they love the UK so much and aren't making use of it. Possibly something about eco credentials too
6. security: somehow harry will spin it that being permanently in the UK is safer for his wife and kids than going back and forth
7. a son genuinely wanting to spend time with his last surviving parent before the inevitable
8. they're out of options in the US. I mean, there's literally NOTHING on the horizon for either of them. They have no jobs, they have no income (As ever is an albatross around meghan's neck at this point, it's an internet embarrassment)

I do think Meghan won't last here for more than a year, even if they live in Ellen's old house in the Cotswolds or whatever equal Soho House renovated house they can find. She needs publicity and attention like she needs air to breathe, she can't exist unless people can see her. It doesn't bode well for their marriage - but is there anything less surprising in the RF gossip than that this marriage was doomed from the start?

W&C will be fine. They both think the stress of H&M was what caused Kate's cancer, William on the record as saying as much. They will carry on as before but with greater resolve. The press will be instructed not to raise the question, and it'll be business as usual. Harry and Meghan both will pop up in various places, trying to royal. Society will make its choice, and it'll be in the monarch's favour. It's all just sad, really.

What can they make work in UK? They have zero talent, work ethic, skills and are so deeply unlikeable. If KC brings them back in even a very minor role, it'll be an utter disaster

A rolling stone gathers no moss, and Meghan is a rolling stone. She just ghosts and moves on after every failure. This version of moving on is her telling whoever is listening in the US that she wants a british education for her children and that she's doing it for Harry. But she won't last in the UK. She will travel more and more, especially if the children are in a boarding school, and eventually there'll be talk of whether they're still actually married or not. Like Donald and Melania Trump. It's the optimum outcome for her.

ETA we'll see posts of her in wellies and a Barbour doing the As Ever thing in the UK, offering shipping from the UK to Europe and Aus, before the year is out
