Sadly Charles is back in hospital.

Except he's been in and out and it was routine. He's home now.

Lavenderfarmcottage · 27/03/2025 22:18

The BBC halted regular broadcasting to announce. It was described as ‘breaking news’ so I really don’t think this is ‘routine’x

Lavenderfarmcottage · 27/03/2025 22:23

It was routine and he is home now. He was meant to have recovered so significant. He’s not that old - terrible shame - I have really enjoyed him as a King and surprisingly, he made a monarchist of me

He had an adverse reaction to his cancer treatment. He is ok and is back at Clarence House. His engagements have been postponed for tomorrow but after that it should be back to normal

removed random capital letter

Is it “usual/normal” to be still having treatment over a year on from its start?
I’m concerned for him as I really do like and admire him.

Some forms of cancer are ones that you live with and have to have ongoing treatment. They do not necessarily go away, but neither are they terminal

eta a friend of ours has bladder cancer that is treated like this

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/03/2025 22:32

Apparently he's scheduled to visit Italy starting 7 April, so it'll be interesting to see if that goes ahead

Stripeyanddotty · 27/03/2025 22:36

My uncle had prostate cancer for years. He had regular treatments for years

justasking111 · 27/03/2025 22:39

Husbands friend has been retreated in the last six months. He's in remission again thankfully. It hit him hard towards the end.

Yes, many older people have some form of cancer, but they die with it not of it. A friend's elderly mother had leukaemia. The doctor said 'this is not what she will die of' - and it wasn't.

I always admired Prince Charles's commitment to his causes, even when there was a lot of sneering, and his work with the Prince's Trust, but I've been surprised by how much I like him as King.

ScribblingPixie · 27/03/2025 23:01

I like him as king too - and Camilla as Queen. I really hope he gets to do the job for years yet. I think he's been looking really healthy lately, skin colour much better.

NewAgeNewMe · 27/03/2025 23:08

I’ve liked Charles as king. Surprised me I have to say. As has Camilla as Queen.

Greenwoodplate · 27/03/2025 23:09

I like him, he was due to attend 4 engagements in Birmingham tomorrow, that's not too bad for someone with cancer in his late 70's tbh

Thought the same the other day!

MissRoseDurward · 27/03/2025 23:32

Yes, I have a lot of respect for Camilla too. She never really wanted the job, but she puts in the work and behaves impeccably. She doesn't attempt to be glamorous, but she has her own style and is always appropriately dressed in public.

(I can't say 'the Queen', not because I have any objection to her having the title, but because 'the Queen' still means the Queen to me.)

glitterturd · 27/03/2025 23:42

They do seem very happy when out and about and people seem very happy to see them.

Agreed, ‘the Queen’ will always be the Queen 👑

Greenwoodplate · 27/03/2025 23:59

I think Camilla is jolly glamorous tbh

Same here! every time I hear Camilla referred to as 'the Queen' my brain goes:
"SHE'S NOT THE QUEEN!"

She's Queen Camilla, but she isn't The Queen.

Exactly that.

crumblingschools · 28/03/2025 00:54

I always do a double take when anyone mentions the Queen, thinking but she is dead! Still can’t get my head around a King and Prince of Wales is still Charles. I’m obviously not very good with change 😂

MayaPinion · 28/03/2025 01:44

Awful lot of posts here fawning over KC, most of them not even responding to the original post 🤔

TheBackupPlan · 28/03/2025 02:10

Hopefully it’s something simple, but you never know if we’re told the full story when it comes to their health. They’re rightly allowed privacy on these matters but that does mean it could be more serious than they’re saying.

It’s strange to think William could be King very soon when Charles hasn’t been in the role for long at all. Hopefully William will then have a long reign but he may face that without Kate. Cancer is a bastard.
