Sadly Charles is back in hospital.

@MissRoseDurward

She has actually. Two books. One Oprah interview, all before social media. Do tell me... is it OK that she uses her title for decades after not being part of the Royal Family. I'm curious as to your take on that. Can't quite understand it, to be honest with you.

Meghan is still maried to the son of the King. Sarah has been divorced for 30 years from a no-mark member of the RF who everyone thinks is a waste of space.

Tacky = Sarah! Endlessly!

CathyorClaire · 28/03/2025 20:59

it’s a fucking crap argument but if royalists can get away with the tiresome trotting out of stupid names with the word president attached

I've seen Jimmy Savile suggested as a serious candidate 🙃

What lies did she tell?

Mrs Smith is entitled to continue to call herself Mrs Smith after she is divorced and no longer part of the Smith family. Why should the Duchess of York not do the same? Or do you think there should be one rule for royal divorcees and another rule for everyone else?

Nope. But let's not complain about the title 'Duchess of Sussex' whilst Sarah divorced from Andrew calls herself Duchess of York, surely that makes sense?

What lies did she tell?

I have no idea what lies there were. She just said she had an awful time in the Institution. Take that as you will. She got away with saying it all because in those days there was no social media dragging her down, like Meghan has had to put up with

Bit of a gulf between Mrs and Duchess but....

Do you think she'd be a bit more credible as a hanger on if she went by Mrs Charmless Mountbatten-Windsor?

Yeah, you told me I was so funny! It means a lot, I try to be! 👍🥰

Oh dear ... that was your interpretation ? Oh well I'm pleased my comments mean a lot to you 😂😂

Yes, I'm made up, I could barely sleep with the excitement! I'm slowly coming back down to earth, but it's taking time... Grin

It really is a spanking PR job that's been done on them though... I remember, post-Diana, everyone hated KC and Camilla - 'there were three of us in this marriage', 'the Royal Family killed her' etc... Now everyone's 'glad that she's made him happy'...

Or could it be they have just got on with the job in hand, done it well and over the years people have grown to like them and the causes they promote? Just a thought…….

Or perhaps some of us didn’t overreact and hate them in the first place!

That was me on another thread and I stand by everything I said on that thread, if we had had a vote for a Head of State in the 1980’s Jimmy Saville would have stood, you didn’t like me suggesting it with all the supporting evidence I supplied because it poured cold water on your republican eutopia and made people have pause. Happy to post it all again if you want to go down that road.

CathyorClaire · 29/03/2025 20:28

Savile might have stood or he might not (would he really have wanted more focused scrutiny over his already open secrets?) but as I said and stand by just as staunchly even in the unlikely event he had he wouldn't have got anywhere because TPTB wouldn't have let him. They'd have destroyed him with his own concerning public admissions in the same way they blocked his knighthood for a decade on the same grounds.

But. Rehash a moot point or don't as you like 🙂

CathyorClaire · 29/03/2025 20:45

Musing on Savile again.

He was v. big on his Catholic faith.

In the unlikely event he became HoS it's to be hoped he wouldn't have come under the same cash for access to the pope cloud as our current HoS has.

Worth reposting the other link within that Times article, @CathyorClaire - this time on further dubious associations and failures: https://archive.ph/eV2ZP

Never mind though; it hardly matters what Charles does any more since he's now quite literally beyond the law

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/03/2025 21:18

Meant to add, @CathyorClaire - but was too late to edit - that so was his brother
Unfortunately it didn't preclude other alleged activities: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-31639212

Johnny Savile

Johnny Savile 'carried out sex attacks at London hospital'

The older brother of Jimmy Savile was implicated in seven sex attacks at south London's Springfield Hospital, a report finds.

Oh, wow, Puzzled

I wasn't aware of those horrific allegations.

Just vile 😡

You're not alone, Cathy; neither was I until about 5 years ago

But then Johnny Savile didn't have the "star power" his brother possessed, so who knows how many more alleged victims may have come to light if he'd been better known?

Also look up Jimmy's great niece Caroline Robinson and add her grandmother Marjorie Marsden to the search ...

When he dies do you think they'll wang on about it to the ridiculous degree they did when his mother died or will it not be as bad? I'm hoping not as bad; I don't think I could cope with more Paddington type shite.
I assume we'll be paying for the funeral as well as the following "man in hat puts hat on man"

The process following the death of the Queen and Charles becoming King was fascinating. I still think about the history we saw being played out on our tv screens. It was like being alive 100’s of years ago and living those days. Just wonderful.

Mightymoog · 30/03/2025 10:33

it was cringy and ridiculous.
Watching 2 old people dressing up.
embarassing for the country.
Oh god, do you remember there was some bollocks about the general pblic joining in with all shouting out "we love you Charles" or something similar.
Arrogant twat

Weepixie · 30/03/2025 10:40

I’m not bothered by anyone who’d cheer for anyone in RF, it’s entirely up to them.

I did love the history of it though, the pageantry, plus a whole lot more. It was very interesting and I feel very lucky to have seen it in my lifetime.

CathyorClaire · 30/03/2025 11:03

Thanks for these. Interesting. Appears Caroline was later accused of fraud but I can't find anything on an outcome.

Looking them up brought up another interesting article although again I can't find an outcome. So many stories linked to just one family...

'Homage of the people'

Toned down later to a 'show of support' having gone down like a cup of cold sick been much criticised

That was sooo embarrassing. Imagine being stood in front of your telly in your house swearing allegiance to the King.

Justin Welby was very excited about this... less said about him the better.

Sparklybutold · 28/03/2025 09:46

He's a 70 year old man who has received the best of care. I'm not interested. It amazes me that people actually care at all when there are literally thousands of people in the UK waiting for care - from initial diagnosis all the way through to post care. A poster mentioned fawning - this is absolutely the right word.

If you are not interested why are you bothering to look on threads about the Royal Family? Do you speak with forked tongue?
I think you are very interested in being unpleasant about the King and anyone who isn't longing for him to be dead tomorrow.
