Awful lot of posts here fawning over KC, most of them not even responding to the original post 🤔

Oh no... 'post police' are out and about 🙄

andyouwillknowusbythetrailofdead · 28/03/2025 05:48

I hope he is ok.

upinaballoon · 28/03/2025 07:35

I'll respond to the thread headline, but I haven't read the link.

King out of hospital later. Today's engagements postponed apparently. Daniela Ralph/Relf (sp?) allowed out to make a few statements, costing the licence-payers a fortune. Last night she said plans for Italy on 7th April still under way.

I hope he stays out of hospital and goes to Italy. If he can't I'm willing to go there with Camilla, our queen.

Today I heard a reporter say that he has treatment on a weekly basis. I had not heard that before.

Mylovelygreendress · 28/03/2025 07:41

I hope he is ok as I am - somewhat surprisingly- very impressed with KC so far . Much more relaxed .
Wonder if Harry will make a flying visit ?

Mightymoog · 28/03/2025 07:43

When he dies do you think they'll wang on about it to the ridiculous degree they did when his mother died or will it not be as bad? I'm hoping not as bad; I don't think I could cope with more Paddington type shite.
I assume we'll be paying for the funeral as well as the following "man in hat puts hat on man"

I think not so much - Elizabeth was the only monarch most people remembered. It was significant because it marked the end of 70 years as a Head of State.

At the risk of being labelled "fawning" I'm just going to add that I've been impressed with KC. I was never a fan, but he's surprised me.

Samcro · 28/03/2025 07:48

I hope he is ok. I like him and Camilla.
( I get what people mean about change)

I wonder if it may be a good thing if he dies soon;
You'd think a few more people may then join the ranks of not wanting to pay for another family's funeal etc. so soon after we paid for the last one.
ooh, there again. according to some on here the next one is going to be far more streamlined etc. so it'll probably be a modest family only affair paid for by the billionaire family themselves.

I think things are different now. QE2's passing was quite momentous and probably the last hurrah. KC does not claim to have that sort of impact, and always understood that his would not be a long reign.

myrtleWilson · 28/03/2025 07:52

You’re actually hoping another human dies soon @Mightymoog ?

Corinthiana · 28/03/2025 07:53

Mightymoog · 28/03/2025 07:50

again, what has he personally done?

He is personally the Head of State, and acts on behalf of the government.
He also has private charitable endeavours.
Whether or not an hereditary HoS is a good idea is a valid question, and I've joined in a couple of good threads on this. I used to have little time for KC, I thought he was fussy and unaware, but he's gone up in my estimation.

ok, so nothing concrete that he himself has done

Hazeby · 28/03/2025 07:55

Remember the mid-90s when the idea of ‘Queen Camilla’ was absolutely outrageous?

Well he's dying at some point and I'm musing on how annoying it's going to be or whether it could actually be good to happen so soon after the massive costs of his mother dying.

But then it'll be the next one and people will coo over the lovely young family in the top place .

Mightymoog · 28/03/2025 07:55

I can see your stance on this, fine. However, being a Head of State, of any nation, is fairly "concrete".

MrsFinkelstein · 28/03/2025 07:59

I always had pretty mild Republican leanings, then I see apparently pro-Republicans post. And they're always the most torn faced, miserable, miserly, grim, po-faced, soul sucking (I can't think what else my Gran would have said), drag you down and beat you around the head miseries.

You should be trying to win hearts and minds guys! Instead all you do is make me swerve more towards the sparkle of tiaras.

I know! Times change. There was a school of thought that the monarchy would end after the passing of QE2 , but here we are.

Oh, people are going to lose their goddamn minds, aren't they... I wonder what Harry and Meaghan will do when William gets the top job? Retreat quietly or kick out more?

if people are going to say they personally admire somebody due to their "job" then I think it only fair that they can specify what that person has achieved in their role.
Not, oh I think he's great cos he's king.
