Harry Says His Fight Against Tabloids Is a 'Central Piece' of Rift with the Royal Family

Is there anyone in the public eye more delusional and lacking in self-awareness than Harry?

The Duke of Sussex, 39, sat down for a new interview for ITV's documentary Tabloids on Trial, premiering on Thursday, July 25. In a preview released a day before the airing, Harry discussed his reasons for publicly pursuing lawsuits against publications over allegations of phone hacking and other unlawful acts — a contrast from his brother, Prince William, who reportedly quietly received a "very large sum of money" in a settlement from News Group Newspapers (NGN) in 2020 amid a claimed "secret agreement" with the royals.
ITV's Rebecca Barry asked Prince Harry in the clip, "To what extent do you think your determination to fight the tabloids destroyed the relationship with your family?"
"I think that's certainly a central piece to it," the Duke of Sussex replied. "That's a hard question to answer because anything I say about my family results in a torrent of abuse from the press."
"I've made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done. It would be nice if we did it as a family," he continued. "I believe that, again, from a service standpoint and when you're in a public role, that these are the things that we should be doing for the greater good. But I'm doing this for my reasons."

Honestly, one LA reporter said 'Straight Outta Compton'. I repeat, an LA reporter and Danny Baker posted an offensive tweet that was unanimously criticised and he was sacked for it. That's it. The rest has been sm trolling, not tabloid racism. Much like what they all are subjected to except the rest of the RF just ignore and rise above it. Unlike the Sussexes who made a reality career out of it. I wonder how much her dm fanned the flames and projected.

An LA based journalist employed by the Daily Mail. The Daily Mail paid for it, and published it for UK readers.

Yes I repeat one reporter. One.

The rest all sm abuse just like what Kate has endured. She smiled waved and carried on, the best way to deal with it tbh. The Sussexes should watch and learn. Dignity and class isnt their thing though, it's all resentment and jealousy.

Can you imagine how may statements they'd have released if one of them was undergoing treatment for cancer and had all the stupid conspiracy theories thrown at them. They've have had Winfry booked for a month oversharing.

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 26/07/2024 09:44

I still can’t get over the fact that they knew Prince Philip was dying and how distraught the Queen must have been and they still did that selfish tantrum of an interview. Totally classless, self centred arseholes.

This thread is about Harry and press intrusion.

This thread is about a comment Harry made in a TV interview, blaming the media intrusion for his rift with his family.

we can all see he is trying to rewrite the narrative and trying to whitewash his public nastiness and blame the media for the personal insults he flung at his family.

Harry and Meghan are the central piece and main piece of the cause of the rift with his family.

How ironic that he is using the media again, another fricking TV interview, to try to twist what we all saw, read and heard.

He is a big time loser!

Edited

Spot on once again

When it comes to possible "reconciliations" though it doesn't really matter what any of us think; that's up to his family, though if they - and William in particular - are prepared to embrace him once again after how he's chosen to behave I'll be very surprised

And what about what Meghan wants? Are we going also to see rowing back on the claims about the institution making her "suicidal", or will that change to being the media's fault too?

Overall there seems no doubt that H&M have made a mess of their grand plans and that Harry at least knows it, but what'll happen now is anyone's guess

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/07/2024 10:28

Being a perpetual victim and blaming others seems to be his full time occupation and there seems to be absolutely no happiness to be gained, and certainly no peace through this course of action

That's why I mentioned the mess Harry's made of it all, @smilesy - after all if he had anything of real value to occupy his mind there'd be no need for this nonsense

popthepopcorns · 26/07/2024 10:36

They really have backed themselves into a corner.

The machinations to secure IPP status will prove a very costly non-starter.

William and Kate are unlikely to ever entertain any sort of relationship with them again.

They lack the skills or USP to earn the sort of income needed to lead the lifestyle they aspire to.

Harry’s inheritances should have been more than enough to fund them for life if they had been careful

It wouldn’t have been. Seen them through 3 or 4 years tops. They have a huge mortgage, massive running costs on that house and huge security bill. All coming to about 5 or 6 million a year just to live. And that may be an underestimate. Or course there was another way to do it.

Nosummerontheagenda · 26/07/2024 11:28

They didn’t have to live on a huge mansion or get a mortgage though did they?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/07/2024 11:30

They lack the skills or USP to earn the sort of income needed to lead the lifestyle they aspire to

I strongly suspect that's what lies at the core of much of this, @popthepopcorns
It probably looked all very well when they were kidding themselves their own "skills" would pay the bills, but with initiatives either coming to nothing or being cancelled things may seem different now

I'll say again though: if Harry's only remaining option is to batten upon his family once again, where does that leave his wife if involvement with them isn't to her taste?

I think people are forgetting the article in the DM about the links between M's favourite avocado and Mexican drug cartels. That must have been absolutely traumatic for her Hmm.

That may have been unfavourable, but AFAIK it wasn’t obtained by intrusive methods, so falls outside scope of his legal case/s

Thedom · 26/07/2024 12:59

He sounds totally off his rocker !

So here he is, again publicly criticizing his family for not ‘going in with him’ .

Knives and acid 😏😏. British would be assassins, fortunately minus the guns, lurking on UK street corner waiting to take him and his wife out.

and the glassy glazed eyes ! 😵‍💫

Vespanest · 26/07/2024 13:32

This is the hypocrisy of Harry, he blames the press for the actions that play out on social media and yes do lead to death threats whilst simultaneously his words and actions do the exact same to William but mainly Catherine from the mocked up DV photos, the William and Charles digging Catherine’s grave and the one plane crash away from Harry being King. Today William will be accused of cowardice and corruption directly from Harry’s words all over social media - but Harry will only blame others. There was no reason to name his family last night, none whatsoever. He chose to do that.

I’ll start by saying I’m not a fan of his.

If my mother had been hacked, manipulated and harassed by the media and their behaviour led to to car crash that killed her, I don’t think I would feel particularly positive towards them. If I’d then been forced by my father as a child to stand and pose for the same media at organised PR stunts, I don’t think I’d feel particularly positive towards the media of my father. If the same media started treating my wife in a way that echoed the way they treated my mother and my father’s response was to do nothing, I think that would cause a rift in the family.

You don’t have to like him or respect him to see that when it comes to the behaviour of the media he had a point.

What happened was tragic. But she was killed by a drunk driver & she wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

Mylovelygreendress · 26/07/2024 13:39

I am not aware of any evidence saying Diana was hacked ?

BruFord · 26/07/2024 13:47

I think the interview with Oprah and his book were ultimately what destroyed his relationship with his family.

I agree @ToofHurty. Media intrusion is very real, but it’s not the cause of his rift with his family, it’s his big mouth. As others have said, William and Kate won’t ever trust him again, with good reason. KC will want to see his son, but even he’ll be careful around him.

In the NF series, he claimed BP and KP were briefing to the press against him and M. He also alleged the RF and the royal rota conspired together. Now he says he thinks the RF should join him in his fight against the media. He constantly changes his narrative.

He makes it up as he goes along, basically.

I read he filmed that when he did the stopover on his way to Nigeria, that time he made the false statement his father was too busy to see him, despite turning down his fathers offer to stay with him.

Explains now why he didn’t take up the offer of accommodation but preferred to stay in a hotel claiming mind boggling ‘security concerns’ Wonder who paid for the hotel, ITV or Invictus.

He doesn’t possess a scrap of integrity.

"It's still dangerous, and all it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff to act on what they have read," Harry said. "And whether it's a knife or acid, whatever it is, and these are things that are of genuine concern for me. It's one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife back to this country."

He's right, there are a lot of radicalised nutjobs still out for Harry and esp Meghan. I love Harry. He's so protective of his little family. Good man.

If the UK is so dangerous why hold the Invictus games here? Surely that should have ruled out their bid in the first round?

Yes, same for Catherine it was her pictures that the FBI found on the phone of the would be Trump assassin Thomas Crooks.

Gorgonemilezola · 26/07/2024 15:28

'He's so protective of his little family.'
Is he though? Moving from the UK where they had security to the US with it's relaxed gun laws. Going on a jolly to Nigeria, a country subject to FO travel warnings of terrorism and kidnap. I think he's over-egging it somewhat.
