Harry Says His Fight Against Tabloids Is a 'Central Piece' of Rift with the Royal Family

Is there anyone in the public eye more delusional and lacking in self-awareness than Harry?

The Duke of Sussex, 39, sat down for a new interview for ITV's documentary Tabloids on Trial, premiering on Thursday, July 25. In a preview released a day before the airing, Harry discussed his reasons for publicly pursuing lawsuits against publications over allegations of phone hacking and other unlawful acts — a contrast from his brother, Prince William, who reportedly quietly received a "very large sum of money" in a settlement from News Group Newspapers (NGN) in 2020 amid a claimed "secret agreement" with the royals.
ITV's Rebecca Barry asked Prince Harry in the clip, "To what extent do you think your determination to fight the tabloids destroyed the relationship with your family?"
"I think that's certainly a central piece to it," the Duke of Sussex replied. "That's a hard question to answer because anything I say about my family results in a torrent of abuse from the press."
"I've made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done. It would be nice if we did it as a family," he continued. "I believe that, again, from a service standpoint and when you're in a public role, that these are the things that we should be doing for the greater good. But I'm doing this for my reasons."

Oh well. Hugh Grant at least must be relieved that there is now very little interest in his life. Hence the poor ratings. Give it a few years and the same will be true for Harry.

I'm not excusing what happened to them but this really is old news. Laws were changed, publications shut down, huge payments made, and rightly so. Expecting the public to care about all this a decade and more down the line is asking a lot.

Apart from that, Harry also hates the media because they took photos of his mother dying without helping her.

Yes, but he's kind of selective, because often he clearly loves the media. Wants the photos, the clicks, the interviews, the articles. So it's a strange relationship.
He thrives when there's a bank of cameras or tv filming focused on him.

CBS the tv network were condemned for showing images of Diana’s crash. It was the only network to do so.

Yet Harry gives exclusive interviews to CBS. So he’s not really that bothered is he? As long as he gets good PR

He has a love hate relationship with the media.

But he also has to use media if he wants to do any interviews

He only cares about his image and is ruthless in his promotion and control of it.

It's not just that he feels he has to use the media, he actively seeks out media coverage.
It's like one of his claims about being traumatised by photographers clicks and flashes. You can watch him on many occasions beaming at the cameras and clearly not traumatised at all.
I think he only dislikes the media if he or his wife get negative coverage.

If you want to be angry with him that's fine be angry.

I genuinely couldn't give a shit if he gives media interviews to whatever network.

King Charles did loads of interviews with journalists.

Yes, King Charles doesn't constantly blame the media and whine about his treatment at their hands.

He wants to control and censor the media for his own purposes.

Its calling out hypocrisy. His complaints about media, particularly the British media. Yet an american media network showed the distressing footage of his dying mother- and not only does he not care, he actually gives exclusives to them.

Can’t see the offers flooding in after the ratings of this and also the poor viewership of their CBS interview on Sunday. No one wants to listen to them anymore.

Harry is a hypocrite who’s missing a moral compass.

King Charles has complained about media/ journalists and then sat down and done loads of interviews with journalists.

The Royal family are the same as other celebrities.

They always say they hate getting harassed by paparazzi.

Yet then they also see the huge powered of the media, so they use them when it suits them. Giving interviews etc

King Charles famously complained about a journalist while actually IN an interview with him.

He has used the cases of Milly Dowler to further his own cause against the newspapers and his control of them and is using the fear of parents of suicidal teens to further his cause of controlling SM.

It’s so low. These aren’t his stories, this isnt his platform. He is being duplicitous about his reasons why he wants control of media. He’s doing it to control the public questioning his actions.

So? KC can give interviews. It's giving interviews to the media, then being critical of the media that's so hypocritical.
Courting them then criticising them.

Nicolas Witchell. It was a private conversation with his boys. To be honest, his judge of character was bang on there.

Charles has given interviews of course but like most royals, he does so rarely. Not sure about 'so many'.
