Harry Says His Fight Against Tabloids Is a 'Central Piece' of Rift with the Royal Family

Is there anyone in the public eye more delusional and lacking in self-awareness than Harry?

The Duke of Sussex, 39, sat down for a new interview for ITV's documentary Tabloids on Trial, premiering on Thursday, July 25. In a preview released a day before the airing, Harry discussed his reasons for publicly pursuing lawsuits against publications over allegations of phone hacking and other unlawful acts — a contrast from his brother, Prince William, who reportedly quietly received a "very large sum of money" in a settlement from News Group Newspapers (NGN) in 2020 amid a claimed "secret agreement" with the royals.
ITV's Rebecca Barry asked Prince Harry in the clip, "To what extent do you think your determination to fight the tabloids destroyed the relationship with your family?"
"I think that's certainly a central piece to it," the Duke of Sussex replied. "That's a hard question to answer because anything I say about my family results in a torrent of abuse from the press."
"I've made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done. It would be nice if we did it as a family," he continued. "I believe that, again, from a service standpoint and when you're in a public role, that these are the things that we should be doing for the greater good. But I'm doing this for my reasons."

“Megan has refused to come back to the UK and that's something to be ashamed of.”

I have to share this perspective. Sadly, the narrative that was spun by our media will continue to reinforce the biases of some right of centre people. Eventually, the tide changes but we just need to be patient and keep supporting what is healthier, more open, more fair and inclusive. The UK is seen as a country that has not dealt with its problems regarding race and ethnicity. Younger people today are very different from those over 50. They are far more aware and ‘woke’ than previous generations.

Er...excuse me. I'm 61, went to very multicultural schools with friends of many origins, I'm a socialist and like many of my generation was involved with the Anti Nazi League and similar causes.

Racism and the extreme right exist, sadly. However, look at Tommy Robinson/EDL / whatever hate inspired gathering and you'll see how many people are well under 50. Lots.

ET change anti fascist to Anti Nazi. Semantics, I know

Same age, and I despise the lazy ageism. Just further evidence of a lack of discernment.

I share your sadness. Unfortunately, too many older people remain invested in the status quo. As a soon to be 60 year old I am pleased that my children are far more ‘awake’ than the right wing voters who brought about Brexit, backed UKIP, support Farage, lurrrve the daily ball ache of the Sun and Mail and ultimately contributed to the pile on of Meghan from the outset. They have no sense of shame and accountability for their bile. To this day the UK red tops and the Telegraph will manufacture a headline even when discussing another royal family member to keep them clicking. How to squander the sacrifice of those who died in the fight against fascism.

I thought the Telegraph was one of the papers favoured by the Sussexes?

I have pipped you (just) to the post. 😂 Turned 60 this week.

…it made my heart sing when Labour got in! Also so many young MPs in the party. Let us hope that we see some real accountability now regarding the finances of the royals and also the right outcome in securing RAVEC protocols that are not ‘bespoke’ for Harry and his family.

MummyJ12 · 27/07/2024 22:41

Well I’m nowhere near 50. I’m happy and so proud of my gorgeous, and diverse groups of friends. Whether they be from uni, home, baby group, or school mum friends.
I have one friend out of many that is pro-Sussex. We don’t hold it against her! The rest of us very much see through the BS. It was actually my friend (who is not white) who came home from travelling and insisted that Meghan was “phoney” and people in the US thought so.
It’s not a race thing, it’s a good judge of person thing.

I would imagine that there are more pressing matters for the government than providing expensive security for a non working member
of the Royal family who had a hissy fit and left the country

MummyJ12 · 27/07/2024 23:21

Found the receipts for Sarah Data as posted upthread. The account has been deleted so I can’t link.

I don’t think that I mentioned that she works closely with Bouzy…..

All very sinister and definitely no laughing matter……🙄

No, not always and it certainly is not now. You are making a crude generalisation to post as such @Bagpussisnotmyhero. It’s quite insulting.

MummyJ12 · 27/07/2024 23:32

You are of course welcome to your opinion and I will accept that. A lot of us, will respectfully disagree.

It was never a 'race thing' for the vast majority of us, and it's insulting and untrue to claim that it was.

Haven't they just. All these new posters who join a parenting site and only post as cheerleaders of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the wee small hours. Very strange.

Exactly. Thank you. I concur!
I make allowances in my reply for the odd celebrity who was racist and rightly cancelled but maybe my stance also needs to be stronger on such offensive posts.

pagesix.com/2024/07/27/royal-family/prince-harrys-one-rule-for-reconcilation-with-king-charles/

The prince reiterated his point of view in an ITV documentary, “Tabloids on Trial,” which aired in the UK Thursday, saying he will not bring his family from America to his homeland as things stand now.
“It’s still dangerous, and all it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff to act on what they have read,” he said. “And whether it’s a knife or acid, whatever it is, and these are things that are of genuine concern for me. It’s one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife back to this country.”

How absolutely ironic - when an actual assassin - the one who shot at Trump - had pictures of Catherine on his phone. Did he believe what Harry and Meghan had insinuated about her being a racist?

This article also gives more indications of Harry's special brand of delusion and entitlement:

As Harry nears his 40th birthday on September 15 and the chances of seeing his family continue to appear remarkably slim, multiple sources said there is only one way he will consider a reconciliation with his father.
“King Charles can give Harry the security clearance he wants so desperately. As the monarch, he is the ultimate decision maker. That would be how father and son can reconcile,” said one royal source.
Harry has repeatedly said he will not bring his wife and children to the UK as long as he does not receive official police security. He and Markle, 42, lost their taxpayer-funded police protection detail after they stepped down from being working royals and moved to America in 2020.

Prince Harry reveals fears of bringing wife Meghan Markle back to the UK: ‘It’s still dangerous’

The Duke of Sussex’s security detail was removed after he and his wife resigned from their roles as senior members of the royal family in 2020.

That’s a nonsense. We know from Harry’s judicial review against the Home Office that QEII wanted him to continue to have security, but recognised that it was not her decision (and, obviously, her wishes were not followed by RAVEC this instance).

I agree.

The sort of post that lazily brands a generation as problematic is just plain wrong (ageism is also an offence).

To divert briefly - it's like blaming the "older generation" for Brexit - which totally overlooks the current age of those who voted in the 1975 referendum in which "remain" won.

Stirring up, promoting or lazily accepting the idea that someone else is to blame (in this case another generation, but there are resonances elsewhere in the thread) is usually unhelpful, definitely wrong and often stirs up division.

Vespanest · 28/07/2024 08:17

@popthepopcorns The comments are heavily that he used the TV show for his own gains to bolster his security appeal and ultimately IPP. No matter the pro writing and his cheerleaders they still come across as all about themselves. The hypocrisy of labelling their own hate they receive whilst knowing their own supporters are waiting for the next William and Catherine dig to throw more shade. Which Harry rarely fails in delivering and still managed on the tv show. But for his supporters revelations about William and Catherine are truth even when some can be easily discredited but revelations about Harry (the known racist) and Meghan are only based on racism, even if they can be proven true.
