Harry Says His Fight Against Tabloids Is a 'Central Piece' of Rift with the Royal Family

Is there anyone in the public eye more delusional and lacking in self-awareness than Harry?

The Duke of Sussex, 39, sat down for a new interview for ITV's documentary Tabloids on Trial, premiering on Thursday, July 25. In a preview released a day before the airing, Harry discussed his reasons for publicly pursuing lawsuits against publications over allegations of phone hacking and other unlawful acts — a contrast from his brother, Prince William, who reportedly quietly received a "very large sum of money" in a settlement from News Group Newspapers (NGN) in 2020 amid a claimed "secret agreement" with the royals.
ITV's Rebecca Barry asked Prince Harry in the clip, "To what extent do you think your determination to fight the tabloids destroyed the relationship with your family?"
"I think that's certainly a central piece to it," the Duke of Sussex replied. "That's a hard question to answer because anything I say about my family results in a torrent of abuse from the press."
"I've made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done. It would be nice if we did it as a family," he continued. "I believe that, again, from a service standpoint and when you're in a public role, that these are the things that we should be doing for the greater good. But I'm doing this for my reasons."

Prince Harry Takes Aim at Tabloid Phone Hacking in New Sit-Down Interview for Documentary

He will always be moulded by what happened - that's what childhood trauma does. He's obviously in a better place now and being away from all the vitriol and anonymous hare would do anyone the world of good.

Yet he still courts the spotlight...! As for "vitriol" and what I presume you meant to saym "anonymous hate", well he brings that on himself by his behaviour. He used to be one of the most popular Royals and he managed to fuck that up!

Byline times worked with Sarah Data. One of the leaders of the Sussex Squad. No wonder it’s sympathetic to Harry. She worked for Google and Facebook and has admitted that making people’s life hell is just “collateral to the cause of Team Sussex”. She promised journalists money for articles such as this and raised that money by crowdfunding the SS. They also paid for bots to spread their propaganda.

That is abhorrent.

I think people are forgetting the article in the DM about the links between M's favourite avocado and Mexican drug cartels. That must have been absolutely traumatic for her Hmm.

They forget everything and rather believe the tabloids. I stand with Harry.

What Meghan experienced was unprecedented and no other royal has ever seen a hate campaign that resulted in prison sentences. The deranged right wingers in any country are truly frightening.

I tell you what is truly frightening. The organisation of hate that is behind this couple. It’s unprecedented.
Death threats, bullying and harassment of charities, First Ladies, and anyone else who dares to speak out against Harry and Meghan.
Laugh all you like, it just makes you look hypocritical. Exactly like the Sussexes.

Gorgonemilezola · 27/07/2024 19:51

NotaDuchessIworkalot, why do you find Sarah Data's connection to Byline times funny?

I agree, @MummyJ12, but what I'd really like to know is exactly what involvement (if any) H&M have in all this

I'm assuming nothing on the subject, but fully expect the details will trickle out in time - though it may have to wait for a far bigger crisis than just the loss of supporters

There was no hate campaign in the tabloids, quit with the lies.

Harry says silence is compliance so that surely makes them guilty by not speaking out against them and their campaign of hate.
If you take into consideration that they have some squad members travel with them such as to Germany, St Paul’s and Nigeria, as well as thanking them for their support then I think we may have our answer.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/07/2024 20:21

He has indeed said that, @MummyJ12, and while it's not necessarily something I agree with, the fact remains that if he really does believe it then the same applies to him

Unfortunately Harry's assertions tend to change like the wind, and in the unlikely event he was challenged on this I've not the least doubt he'd produce some mangled version of what he really meant - and then probably look for someone to sue for "misrepresenting him"

MummyJ12 · 27/07/2024 20:25

And that super-hypocritical pair just keep smiling, speechifying about being kind and ignoring huge, Woolly Mammoth-sized elephants in the room such as African Parks and the revolting doings of the Sussex Squad.

How anyone can take them and their preaching and posing seriously is quite beyond me!

Thanks for sharing this - I'd never heard of that person before. That's quite the smoking gun, isn't it?

First the pictures of Catherine on the would-be Trump assassin's phone and now this.

No wonder their supporters are so keen to maintain the pretence of Meghan as victim. The reality seems much darker.

Yes exactly. Also not saying a word in support of their sick family members or standing up against the hate directed at Kate earlier this year. Kind, my arse.

TicTacToes · 27/07/2024 21:39

“Megan has refused to come back to the UK and that's something to be ashamed of.”

I have to share this perspective. Sadly, the narrative that was spun by our media will continue to reinforce the biases of some right of centre people. Eventually, the tide changes but we just need to be patient and keep supporting what is healthier, more open, more fair and inclusive. The UK is seen as a country that has not dealt with its problems regarding race and ethnicity. Younger people today are very different from those over 50. They are far more aware and ‘woke’ than previous generations.

smilesy · 27/07/2024 21:55

Yes, she should be ashamed of herself for refusing to come back and allowing her children to understand their heritage 😊

Edited

It’s disgraceful isn’t it? She admitted that the campaign is a full time job and she’s exhausted. She has a less active role now because of this and because she was doxxed.
Posters that laugh, are either completely ignorant of how awful the targeted harassment and bullying has been or are completely hypocritical and disgraceful themselves. It’s on a scale that is unprecedented. Ironically.

MummyJ12 · 27/07/2024 22:09

“Megan has refused to come back to the UK and that's something to be ashamed of.”

I think it’s best for everyone concerned. The Sussexes included. The potential booing and poor reception would be difficult for Meghan to cope with and we know that her mental health is fragile.
