I'm not sure what is the correct etiquette for carrying on a thread, but here we are. Thanks to @BoxedandRibboned for the original thread.

Thanks @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar . Hopefully this thread will be as civilised as the first one.
Off topic but is it too early for wine ??

pilates · 27/11/2023 17:21

It’s never too early. I have one as we speak🤪

Lookingatthesunset · 27/11/2023 17:21

Missed the first one but omg I cannot abide Scrotie! Horrible, horrible, individual.

He's exploiting the Sussexes and the rest of the Royal Family for his own financial gain, and he's nothing but a malicious gossip.

EmpressSisi · 27/11/2023 17:38

He has been so nasty towards Catherine. I cannot believe that Harry or Meghan have had anything to do with this, it’s just mean for the sake of being mean and whilst I think many things I don’t think either are maliciously vindictive.

Either they’ve collaborated in anger when wounds were still fresh (which I think they will desperately come to regret if this is the case) or else Scobie has gone rogue and thinks the only way to big Meghan up is to (try to) pull Catherine down (classic sexism!)

Either way what an odious little toad he is!

ForeveraBluebird · 27/11/2023 17:38

I came here to ask who on earth is Omid Scobie, going to read through the first thread now to educate myself .

Yikes just read some of the bits in the Daly Mail. He really does hate Kate doesn’t he? What’s she ever done to him?

MrsLeonFarrell · 27/11/2023 17:42

I think going after Catherine is a mistake for Scobie. The comments about Edward and Sophie don't line up with anything they focus on. Reading more extracts I believe that he is either cut off from a lot of his sources or he thinks that he will be believed over everything we see the royals doing and saying. As I said in the last thread, delusional.

BethDuttonsTwin · 27/11/2023 17:43

I don’t think either are maliciously vindictive.

Oh I do but maybe not when things were going well for them. Maybe something that has developed since they excluded themselves and now everything they do seems to go wrong. Jealousy and resentment are a very consuming mix.

FromEden · 27/11/2023 17:44

Regarding the funeral walkabout which was being discussed at the end of the last thread, I feel like that was when Meghan truly realised how badly she had messed up and that there was no way back. I'd imagine the stony reception they got from the family, coupled with how much genuine goodwill towards the queen and the rf there was from the public shocked her. I think they always thought they could go back once they got what they wanted and it was made clear to them then that that was never happening. They clearly aren't the brightest and seem to have no clue about how their behavior comes across

Vespanest · 27/11/2023 17:45

I honestly think Harry and Meghan naively confided too much in Scobie in the past and now he can basically write what he wants. How is this not triggering for Harry, watching the present Princess of Wales being dragged like his mother was. It so sad, if Kate was cold she was right to be so, otherwise what more would have been placed all over the papers.

thebellagio · 27/11/2023 17:46

I agree @FromEden i think because it was the first time she’d been back, she hadn’t anticipated exactly how much hurt their behaviour had genuinely caused and how much affection there was for the queen amongst the public.

i don’t think either are malicious, but I think they are both very self centred and a bit thick to be honest.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/11/2023 17:50

I'm hoping not, but at least for now we just don't know

And yes, they lied about it last time, but presumably even they are capable of learning

GrouchyKiwi · 27/11/2023 17:50

The more that comes out the worse it makes Scobie look - and M&H too, to be honest. They obviously fed him a lot of this stuff, and whether or not they regret it now the damage is done.

thebellagio · 27/11/2023 17:51

Known for his sympathetic coverage of Harry and Meghan, Scobie added that Kate isn't known for 'leadership and outgoing nature' like 'Meghan', who was 'another shimmering ornament in the royal family tree' before she stepped down.

what the actual fuck? I really want to know what the full context of this is, because that is insane

BethDuttonsTwin · 27/11/2023 17:52

I remember switching the walk about on and my mouth falling open like 😲😁. Couldn’t believe my eyes. And I honestly think that maybe it was a gesture of rapprochement from William. It could have been I think, if it had been met with willingness to move on from H&M. But by then Spare was already coming down the pipeline so it was impossible. I did say to dd “imagine how cheesed off you’d be if you went to see W&C but got stuck on the H&M side of the crowds 😁. And also I think Meghan got a lot of goodwill from the crowd that day in spite of all that had gone on, just a few who wouldn’t greet her. Maybe something could have been built on if Spare & Netflix could have been stopped.

JADS · 27/11/2023 17:53

If I'm honest, I didn't expect the massive outpouring of emotion for the Queen and quite how international it was. I can totally see how Meghan might have misjudged it.

I have read some bits about Catherine and they are vile. I haven't seen anything about Edward and Sophie though. What did he say?

I also find his marketing plan utterly grim. Sending the book out to 400 influencers who clearly aren't fans of POW just seems a troll move.

cheezncrackers · 27/11/2023 17:54

They keep telling people that they have 'moved on' yet here we are again, the same old stories rehashed, he said she said.

I've been thinking about this, because it seems to me that the appearance of this book is horribly timed. The King's birthday and Harry's well-publicised call to him were just last week and yet here we are again - more royal criticism emanating from the H&M camp - once more drawing attention back to their royal grievances when they released a statement months ago saying that they had no more to say.

I'm guessing that whatever they shared with OS was more than a year ago (remember he announced that this book was being written on 13 Dec 2022), and that there is a lot of cringing going on in Montecito. After all, didn't Harry just leak that he wants a rapprochement with his family and 'who cares' about an apology? This book just feels like another nail in the coffin of his hopes, if that's true.

friendlycat · 27/11/2023 17:57

Criticising the current King and Queen, the future King and Queen and aiming vindictive barbed comments at a woman who has behaved in an exemplary fashion whilst undertaking her royal duties and raising her children, one of whom is a future King really is tawdry stuff.

He may be writing for the American market but this nonsense shows OS in an even worse light than ever before. Whether H and M fed him material for this latest bunch of clap trap is debatable, but their previous association with him doesn’t help their reputations either.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 27/11/2023 17:57

New York Times is scathing:

"Whether or not Scobie actively collaborated with Meghan and Harry for this book, he does them no favours. Their chapter reads like a press release cooked up by ChatGPT, and does little to shed light on them as humans. He says the couple - who used to focus on coverage of themselves - now remain blissfully unconcerned. Harry's next chapter will focus, among other things, on philanthropic efforts in the "military space", while Meghan (and here Scobie quotes an unnamed source) is "building something more accessible.... something rooted in her love of details, curating, hosting, life's simple pleasures, and family"."

Rooted - there's a word someone uses a lot, ahem, MM.

Harry and Meghan are both the products of fucked up families and overindulgent parenting. Neither are very bright, and both have incredibly over-inflated opinions of themselves. They really only bring the worst out in each other. Harry is throwing his toys out of the pram because his cheeky charm and the death of his mother isn't carrying any weight any more with the british public. And Meghan can't understand why no one realises just how awesome she is for being her.

I'm personally sick to the back teeth of them. Millions of children lose their parents while growing up, and even more come from separated families. It's called life. Grow the fuck up and let your children know your family.

Scobie talks about a telephone conversation between H and The King after Spare was published so less than a year ago . He also says that H didn’t know if he would be invited to the Coronation and only found out at the end of March .,

cheezncrackers · 27/11/2023 18:05

OMG, this has just been published on the DM site. This is really unpleasant about Kate. What the hell does OS have against her?

Omid Scobie has launched an astonishing and cruel attack on the Princess of Wales, branding her 'cold' and lambasting her for 'advocating for mental health causes' while ignoring Meghan's cries for help'. Harry and Meghan's 'cheerleader-in-chief' took aim at The Princess of Wales in his new book Endgame, which has been published in Australia, claiming she 'shivers' whenever Meghan's name is brought up and hasn't spoken to her since 2019. He claims the Princess of Wales has never had interest in being friends with her sister-in-law and branded her a 'Stepford-like royal wife' and and the monarchy's 'last shiny thing for many years to come'. In a scathing chapter dedicated to the future Queen, Scobie says the Princess of Wales earned the nickname 'Katie Keen' and claimed the late Queen liked her because she was 'coachable' unlike the 'strong-minded' Princess Diana. He claims her workload is lower than other senior members of The Firm - which he says makes her 'technically a part time working royal'. Kate started carrying out official royal engagements in 2011, the year she married Prince William.

She has 3 DC FGS and has shown herself to be a very caring and involved DM. Scobie comes across as bitchy and mean.

I think they have to be malicious. Maybe not Harry so much as he's so stupid??
