What next for the Sussexes?

I thought yesterday couldn't have gone better, all things considered; there was the least amount of drama or negative coverage possible regarding the Sussexes.

I'd like to hope that this marks a fresh start. Harry's got all the recriminations off his chest. The Royal Family have maintained a dignified silence and hopefully the future is rosy. The Sussexes can have the life they want in the US, with a small presence in family events back here when appropriate. (I wouldn't be surprised however if Megan never makes it back on UK soil).

Harry's next appearance will be walking the runway for Dior.

He did it yesterday for them in the Abbey.

MrsFinkelstein · 07/05/2023 14:53

Joking aside, I hope they find work that is worthwhile and meaningful for them, that doesn't involve reliving trauma and (un?)intentionally hurting others.

They may rebuild family relationships, but whatever I hope they are happy and enjoy their life.

He came, he smiled, he flew commercial and made no fuss. Given how limited his time was, his conduct was faultless. I’m choosing to blame Dior for the highly tacky PR’ing of his suit, but I guess he must be complicit (took a free suit and let them tweet it) however in the grand scheme of things, it was a minor transgression and at least reinforces his decision to be a commercial animal and not a working royal.
he was never going to make Archie’s birthday party so it’s really weird that his time was so limited and that he didn’t go to the family dinner the night before (no K&W there so safe space) or to the lunch at BP afterwards.
so base on all that and meghan’s new agent, my guess is that the future will be more of the same and he came for the briefest possible stay to say he’d been, had been ousted to the background behind paedo uncle Andy and how it’s all dreadfully unfair. I think it was material for book 2.

Heh jinx Mrs fink

Casuaala · 07/05/2023 14:58

Ah, I'd missed the Dior issue.

Do the Sussexes have any online or social media presence nowadays?

Next stop is megs gets her acting career back and harry pretty much disappears from view. She will move on to someone more useful by the time her dc are teens.

Abra1t · 07/05/2023 15:24

Hopefully he will find some meaningful work that makes him happy. Something outdoors, conservation-oriented, perhaps. Nobody wins if he can't find satisfying things to earn a living. I don't believe that writing tell-alls is really making him content. Much more chance of a family reconciliation if he is at one with himself.

I missed the Dior issue too. can anyone explain?

I watched in on the CBC. There was a lot of focus on the procession and not much on the arrival of guests. I had assumed the CBC used the BBC feed.

On the other hand, I had to get up at 5 am to watch and was half asleep, so maybe missing things was down to me.

Dior used Harry to advertise.

We all know who dress the Royals (like Catherine wore Alexander McQueen), but the fashion houses themselves have never blatantly advertised it in this way before.

Harry wore Dior to his court attendance, it's been rumoured he's entered into a "sponsorship" type agreement with them (can't think of the right word to describe it). This seems to confirm it.

What next for the Sussexes?

Honestly not sure. Not that I've seen, but I'm rarely on FB or Insta now, and mainly follow food & beauty accounts 🤪

I’m euphoric.

Aged 55 I just got ID-ed buying celebratory Prosecco.

That’s made my year. Cheers King Charles! 🥂

More Van Gogh than Jordan Barrett.

Thanks. I didn’t see that.

pikkumyy77 · 07/05/2023 15:48

What on earth do you mean “the fashion houses don’t use the royals?” The explicit meaning of alllllll of the coverage of royal fashion is advertising. What is Kate wearing, who made it, how she influences fashion, how you can achieve the look? That is advertising and benefits the brand. Its only more or less tacit because…well..I don’t know why the royals shilling for one designer is seen as virtuous while another royal wearing another designer is seen as embarrassing.

Pugdogmom · 07/05/2023 15:50

Well there are no more events coming up for Harry to attend, and no reason for him to be in UK ( unless about the Court case), so I doubt H and M and the Royal Family will have any reason to meet or be in contact, so the rift will probably continue to fester.
Obviously don't know if there is another book/ Netflix deal in the pipeline to get them back in the news again. Meanwhile the tabloids will continue to make stuff up, and the Royal Family will get on with royalling or whatever they do.🤣

Agree totally

BethDuttonsTwin · 07/05/2023 16:17

I think Meghan not coming was the best decision. It is time to turn down the heat. I do wonder if they’d have liked to do that a while ago but were unable to due to Harry being legally tied into book promotion obligations, and the unexpected death of HMQ. They couldn’t have missed the funeral so they were kind of forced to stay high profile. For this event Meghan didn’t come, Harry showed his face, both kept quiet. Exactly what their detractors claim to want from them.

I don’t expect we will be hearing nearly half as much about them from now on and I think that’s for the best. What they do in the future, I don’t much care about. I’ll be surprised if the marriage sustains though as I think she will tire of him - he may not be energetic/ambition enough for her. I could be entirely wrong though.

WheelsUp · 07/05/2023 16:22

Errr... Harry has still got more books as part of his deal with Penguin Random House. Until the content is announced, I'm not sure that the drama is all over.

Meghan seems to be moving on with her new deal. This looks like a new chapter for her which is positive. Looks like she could become the breadwinner if Harry has no plans.

TheSnowyOwl · 07/05/2023 16:28

Hopefully whatever is next is very different to what they have done so far.

LolaSmiles · 07/05/2023 16:29

Hopefully they'll focus on building their own careers independent of being royal, will raise their children away from the cameras, and enjoy getting out of an institution they've openly criticised.

Whether family relationships will improve is something only those involved will know, but I'm sure the press will look for drama and stories to stir.

BanditsOnTheHorizon · 07/05/2023 16:34

Isn't the next part of his book due soon, I'm sure that and all the associated interviews will keep him busy. I'm also sure I heard that MM was looking to go back into acting, but I could be wrong

MissyB1 · 07/05/2023 16:46

Surely at some point he has to get a job? Even if just to bring some meaning and self respect to his life? He work for a charity full time, or as pp suggested go into conservation work. His wanted a “normal” life, time to start setting one up.

ArcaneWireless · 07/05/2023 16:48

I’ve said before that I think it was a pity that Meghan couldn’t attend for arguably one of the biggest days in KC’s life as KC stood by her side for one of her biggest days.

I think I understand why they may have made the decision to have Harry attend alone - but it is still a shame.

Hopefully they will carry on doing whatever they want to do over there without any more revelations and everyone can just be happy - if distant.

I think Spare should be a one shot crack in respect of a putting anything out there and it should be time to move on. The second book should be about moving on.

If you want to be happy you have to drop resentment and grievances eventually. They’ve got as good a chance as anyone to be truly happy going forward. I hope they grab that opportunity and give others a chance to be happy too.
