What next for the Sussexes?

I thought yesterday couldn't have gone better, all things considered; there was the least amount of drama or negative coverage possible regarding the Sussexes.

I'd like to hope that this marks a fresh start. Harry's got all the recriminations off his chest. The Royal Family have maintained a dignified silence and hopefully the future is rosy. The Sussexes can have the life they want in the US, with a small presence in family events back here when appropriate. (I wouldn't be surprised however if Megan never makes it back on UK soil).

I'm surprised Dior are bragging about that suit. It was creased and too big for him

Creased, yes but I thought it was a bit small especially round the upper arms and shoulders but as I know nothing about designer glad rags I can safely be ignored 😁

SoTedious · 07/05/2023 21:27

I'd be amazed if she went back into acting, I think producing is more likely, like what Reese Witherspoon has done.

I'm always surprised when this path is suggested - Reese Witherspoon is an Oscar winning Hollywood A list film star who has producer / exec credits over 20 years and Meghan is a tv actress who has been out of the business for several years. Producing film or tv takes a lot of skills and Netflix don't tend to take a punt on someone who has no real experience and doesn't have the star power of RW or the A list contacts book.

I also thought it was creased and too small. At first I thought he must have worn it on the plane and come straight from the airport, until I read he'd spent the night at Frogmore.

I am not sure I can cope with another two books of Spare! The first was ridiculous enough.

Abolish the monarchy.

Viviennemary · 07/05/2023 22:36

There was hardly any reports about them, and thats how it should be. They are of no relevance. They don't live in the country and don't do royal duties and only Harry bothered to come for the Coronation and couldnt get away quck enough. Dont know why he bothered.

@Viviennemary It may have been a mixture of supporting his Dad, staying relevant, and possibly gathering some more “revelations” for one of the future books…no one spoke to me, they’re all nasty, etc. Who knows. 🤷

I think you're thinking of Directing which does take a lot of skill. Producing is just fronting up with some cash.

Morestrangerthings · 08/05/2023 03:45

She is gone. And still they talk about her.

notaswearwolf · 08/05/2023 05:14

Meghan is on front page of the mailonline for not being there and going for a hike on the other side of the world.

The press, well some outlets, at least seem to care very much what she’s up to.

Also not sure what the difference between Harry’s wearing of a Dior suit and Kate wearing a £2.5k Alexander McQueen dress yesterday? I’m sure she didn’t pay for it and it creates a lot of good PR for the fashion house.

I thought that M looked pregnant in those recent photos or is it just some kind of bum bag?

Were those papped pictures?

@pikkumyy77
"I don’t know why the royals shilling for one designer is seen as virtuous while another royal wearing another designer is seen as embarrassing."
I think it depends on whether one gets paid for this kind of advertising or not.
I have no idea re Harry, but traditionally, the RF are not paid to advertise different designers, and also do not accept free clothes for advertising.
Typically, celebrities will be 'sponsored', in that they will receive some kind of 'reward'; either free clothes to advertise the designer, or payment of some sort (sponsorship)

I think it will come as no surprise to anyone that Backgrid is involved!

Maireas · 08/05/2023 06:33

Oh, I see.

Maireas · 08/05/2023 06:40

It's a tricky one, isn't it, because they want a high profile celebrity lifestyle, but the celebrity comes from being former members of the royal family. Maybe time to leave that behind now, although I don't see how they can.

Whaeanui · 08/05/2023 06:43

Harry is a member of the royal family. He always will be, whether you like it or not. He can’t ‘leave it behind’ because it’s who he is.

She is wearing a weighted belt and weights around the ankles.

Yes, he can leave it behind. He can try to forge a new life based on something else other than being a prince. I think it would be a new start which would be good all round.

Maireas · 08/05/2023 06:49

Although I said in my post "I don't see how they can" meaning they will always be linked, but try not to look backwards, if that makes sense.

AllIwantforChristmas22 · 08/05/2023 07:07

On the dior issue: Harry’s pal Eugenie was head to toe in Fendi and Fendi did posts too. What’s the connection? Dior Men and Fendi have the same creative director Kim Jones. So I think the both made some deal.

for Harry I assume he had a few Morning Suits tailor made before, so it seems a weird choice to go with a new brand unless he has a deal of some sorts. Don’t British male aristos usually wear Saville Row brands anyway not French designers.

AtChoService · 08/05/2023 07:08

Has anyone considered that she was told she wasn't welcome, and that's why she wasn't there?

You'd move a small kids birthday tea otherwise, not use it as an excuse.

coodawoodashooda · 08/05/2023 07:16

MrsFinkelstein · 07/05/2023 14:51

Harry's next appearance will be walking the runway for Dior.

He did it yesterday for them in the Abbey.

Hahahaha!

Roussette · 08/05/2023 07:24

This thread proves everything I think about MN and anti H&M posters. Even when they are not around, not showing their face (apart from the Coronation service for Harry) posters can't stop talking about them.

His suit, gosh! No wonder Meghan didn't come, what she wore would have been spread over three threads and ripped to shreds.

The Express managed to publish over 100 articles about the couple over the last 72hours, more than 90% negative. Some articles were brutally aggressive and insulting.
The Express has totally lost the plot.

Please see below. Sums it up.

Posting insults and digs at H&M has become an addiction for some.

@Whaeanui has it right... he will always be the Monarch's son, you really have to accept that fact!

What next for the Sussexes?
Whaeanui · 08/05/2023 07:33

@Roussette urgh the express are so revolting. Did you read the Spectator article from someone who usually picks at them too? Even they had to say he behaved with dignity and respect and did nothing wrong. The drama over his suit really does tell you a lot doesn’t it? People just ignoring that Sophie’s designer did the same… it’s all rather childish.

Necrotic · 08/05/2023 07:39

I worry about what will happen to Harry if Meghan decides to ditch him. It’s not like he could come back here …
