She changed the whole look or Givenchy hate her?

I think she changed the lot just before the wedding.
Anyone know the lead time for Givenchy bridal wear?
Facts as I see them.

  1. Her evening Sella mccartney dress looked stunning and fitted well.
  1. 4 days before the wedding a local tailor Aja had to refit all the daytime bridesmaids dresses. Where was Givenchy?
  2. on the day the dresses look ok but not fabulous
  3. on the day her day dress was not fitted correctly. i am not sure you could fit it with that darting position and a boat neck.
  4. Her veil was fabulous but didn’t match the dress and tiara.

This is no disrespect to Aja there is only so much you can do to refit a dress esp if there is no allowance for darts or seams and the cut is all wrong.

so A B or C?
A
She changed the complete look tiara and all and only kept the veil right up until the last minute.
B She kept chopping and changing or couldn’t make a decision right up to the last minute.
C
Givenchy hated her and sent sub par dresses even though the whole world would be looking?
I think there was no time for Givenchy to get the bridesmaids dresses fitted.
most likely there had been too many design changes before hand.

Is OP talking to herself? 🤔
Who cares about someone else's wedding dress?

I just posted this on another thread, it dates from 2019 I think

Lol if you believe that, you'll believe anything. Clearly bs. 😂

Applecottagetree · 11/01/2023 06:16

Christ. You seem to have spent a lot of time thinking about this.

Harry obviously thinks it's relevant. They brought it up in the Oprah interview and he inncludes it in his book, and tries to use it to stir up the Kate hate. That's the bit that I find uncomfortable - why does Kate have to be a villain?

Something's gone wrong with the bridesmaids' dresses, but it would have been long forgotten if H and M didn't keep whingeing on about it.

Hairday · 11/01/2023 06:34

Yes, why would the bridesmaid dresses arrive so late? Probably last minute changes to the design. But, weddings are so stressful, and so is giving birth, so it's no surprise if they were in tears.

Soproudoflionesses · 11/01/2023 06:35

Too much time on your hands op

This first hand witness account gives a lot of detail. It certainly explains the tension.

To be fair it wasn’t even a first-hand witness account it was what a worker apparently told her cousin who told the person writing the blog, so third hand. It didn’t seem that credible to me.

The OP does. Instead of trying to sneer at others, maybe start your own thread on something you think is more important.

I feel sorry for Kate. Having to sort out an ill fitted dress for her daughter 4 days before a big event which would be broadcasted for millions to see. It's not a normal wedding, Kate needed to make sure Charlotte looked her best and behaved well, it's her job. I don't think Meghan cared or had the time to care about that.

The dresses took hours to sort out so were obviously very wrong before Ajay's alterations. With so little time it is likely that remaking the dresses would be much faster. Whatever the relationship between the women I think Kate was the one who knew about the technicality of couture dresses at that point after her time in the palace.

Terribly organised.

pedigreechump1 · 11/01/2023 06:55

@SpookyBlackCat Yes! It has a ring of my mums friend talked to the woman in the shop and she said.....
@Hairday Exactly! I mean who wouldnt be stressed under those conditions and dresses arriving late.
@Wdib78 well if you make dresses esp wedding dresses you might!
@Applecottagetree honestly i havent ! but i do tend to drift off on a particularly line of thought esp when setting seams or quitting .

@Wdib78 Hope those are enough replies. Really i am just musing as to what went so wrong that HArry keeps on going on and on about it.

I am happy to talk about any dress :)
Maybe i should move over to style and beauty. I really want to talk about the iconic dresses that worked last year and the ones that flopped.

What are you talking about?

HuntingoftheSnark · 11/01/2023 07:02

You have a huge amount of spare time on your hands - I am envious.

I have no interest in bridesmaid dresses either, but who are you to tell people what they can and can't post?

The thread policing on Mumsnet is insane.

Don't like a thread? Well don't read it then. The OP is well within their right to post what they like within the guidelines. Leave the thread policing to MNHQ, that's their job.

ShandaLear · 11/01/2023 07:08

You have way too much time on your hands.

toomuchlaundry · 11/01/2023 07:08

Why has this particular thread caused so much hatred?

There was obviously something very wrong with the bridesmaid dresses if it took a team 4 days to try and alter them and Charlotte’s dress still didn’t look quite right

But if Harry hadn’t put the story in his book people wouldn’t be talking about it now. If Harry didn’t want people talking about it he wouldn’t have put it in his book

urbanbuddha · 11/01/2023 07:10

You have way too much time on your hands.

No, that'll be you, if you seek out threads that don't interest you in order to post on them.

WeAreTheHeroes · 11/01/2023 07:14

The blog you linked to is obviously a pile of crap. There's way too much info about very many aspects that it just doesn't ring true.

Please stop bitching about someone you don't know.

@watchfulwishes you could say that about Harry’s book too!

@WeAreTheHeroes the only blog i linked to was meghans mirror... Honestly it is just clothes and stuff and they are complimentary about meghan

Strange people on this "the royal family" thread, trying to shout down a discussion on something quite mundane really.

The whole topic is chat and gossip really so people should really complain to Mumsnet if they don't enjoy it.
