She changed the whole look or Givenchy hate her?

I think she changed the lot just before the wedding.
Anyone know the lead time for Givenchy bridal wear?
Facts as I see them.

  1. Her evening Sella mccartney dress looked stunning and fitted well.
  1. 4 days before the wedding a local tailor Aja had to refit all the daytime bridesmaids dresses. Where was Givenchy?
  2. on the day the dresses look ok but not fabulous
  3. on the day her day dress was not fitted correctly. i am not sure you could fit it with that darting position and a boat neck.
  4. Her veil was fabulous but didn’t match the dress and tiara.

This is no disrespect to Aja there is only so much you can do to refit a dress esp if there is no allowance for darts or seams and the cut is all wrong.

so A B or C?
A
She changed the complete look tiara and all and only kept the veil right up until the last minute.
B She kept chopping and changing or couldn’t make a decision right up to the last minute.
C
Givenchy hated her and sent sub par dresses even though the whole world would be looking?
I think there was no time for Givenchy to get the bridesmaids dresses fitted.
most likely there had been too many design changes before hand.

I like Meghan's wedding dress. It is not bodyform fitting, that does not make it ill fitting. The bodyform close fitting works well for some styles and fabrics e.g. the lace sleeves on Kate's wedding dress, and looks cheap on other styles and materials. But it is a style choice, not ill fitting.

I am not so keen on her evening dress. I think formal halterneck style dresses rarely work. There is also too much material which swamps her a bit.

I don't believe for a minute that after having 4 tailors working on the dresses days and night that the hem on Charlotte's dress was not straight. Charlotte was 3 years old. Kids stand strangely and make clothes look strange. My DD was like this every time I took a photo when she was a young child.

This is Charlotte's dress, on display.

Eek.

Oh well. I didn't notice on the day and everyone looked happy.

MrsFinkelstein · 11/01/2023 12:08

Charlotte's dress looks even worse that it did when she was wearing it in that photo.

I would have been furious if that was the standard of flower girl dresses. If it took 3 qualified dressmakers/tailors 3 nights and 4 days to get it to that standard then I have to say Kate was right. They should have been remade. It would likely have been quicker and easier.

Where is that photo from? I did not think Charlotte's dress was on public display?

The photo is from the royal collection website. Meghan's dress, Harry's uniform, and George and Charlotte's outfits were displayed in Kensington, in Holyroodhouse, and possibly elsewhere too after the wedding.

Same happened with Kate's from memory

Can you provide a link? I can't see it on the website. Thanks.

StatisticallyChallenged · 11/01/2023 12:25

Apologies, there was a front photo on that site but the rear photo came from here

Here's the RCT page which confirms the exhibition

Not from the Royal collection website but it clearly shows the dress on display at Windsor Castle Here

Meghans wedding dress

SpookyBlackCat · 11/01/2023 12:31

One thing I wanted to say is that the design seems very Meghan’s style, so I’m not convinced that she dramatically changed her mind about the style at the last minute.

Perfect picture of Charlottes dress on display . The hem line is really bad. Worse than it looked on the day https://people.com/royals/prince-george-princess-charlotte-royal-wedding-outfit-special-detail/

BradfordGirl · 11/01/2023 12:37

@Orangefir That is strange because it looks different from the photo on the Royal Collection website which I posted and also looks at the dress from the front.
And how could experts working for 4 days and nights really make such an obvious mess of a hem? If they really did leave it like that and the Royal Collection website photo has been doctored, then they should sue the tailors and seamstresses.

bit like the poster yesterday who wouldn't accept any news story confirming harry in Switzerland?

Orangefir · 11/01/2023 12:38

You can see the stark difference between it being displayed at KP and at Holyrood house.

They’ve arranged for the drop in the hemline to be tucked back in the fold, so it doesn’t look as bad. This was done on the day of the wedding, you can see how they have tried to arrange the pleats.

But you can see a perfectly clear pic of the actual hemline at the KP display and its atrocious

Different venues

StatisticallyChallenged · 11/01/2023 12:41

It was displayed at least twice.

BradfordGirl · 11/01/2023 12:41

@Orangefir If the hemline is really so badly out of place by inches then it is either a doctored photo or the dress had been changed with tucks.
But really how could seamstresses working day and night have a dress where the hem is inches wrong?

WomanhoodIsABirthright · 11/01/2023 12:44

You can clearly see the state of it here

Is this another case of you insisting that yellow is white?🤔

And the bit where it's hanging is clearly in the same place as the worst bit in the picture I posted
