I have finally watched all episodes. It was much better than I was expecting and bore no resemblance to what was talked about for hours and hours by some posters on here.
I am interested in discussing the programme with people who have watched it all. What struck me was:

  1. Harry clearly says Charles leaked the content of Harrys private letter to Charles, to the press.
  2. William when younger had agreed with Harry that neither of them would behave as Charles had with his press office. But William went back on that and behaved the same way.
  3. The Palace leaked the location of where Harry and Meghan were staying in Canada.
  4. The small number of social media accounts run by mainly white middle-aged women who push hate for both of them but especially Meghan.
  5. The myth that Meghan is controlling Harry is recognised by him as misogyny.

I think they were clearly right to leave.

You’ve solved it. Wrap it all up in a nice bow and put it under the tree.

Spectre8 · 24/12/2022 20:12

After watching it made me feel that all.this talk of modernising is rubbish. Its an institution that has shown time and time again it will not change.

I find it quite shameful that they cannot stop the cycle of toxicity the media push about all the women. They might need the press but they need better boundaries. Because whilst the media might bleat on how it sells papers and its public interest, it really isn't.

Poor, poor Harry. Never steps a foot wrong and yet is surrounded by people who want to destroy him.
Such paranoia and victimhood. Clearly still a very unhappy, insecure man with low self-esteem.
You've a beautiful wife and children, a lovely home and lots of money to spend on your polo and travel, Harry. Be happy and move on.

Dartmoorcheffy · 24/12/2022 20:14

Its clear they adore each other and I do understand why Harry despises the media so much and they wanted to get their story across. But, while I feel sorry for her in a way, I feel she over eggs it with quite a few exaggerations and lies to get more sympathy and that backfires.

I don't for one nano second believe that some airline attendant thanked her for her service to the UK being a prime example.

I also don't think her being mixed race was the root cause of tension in the family either. I've got several californian friends and a couple of them, both women of a similar age to meghan can come across as pushy, over confident and very opinionated and I truly feel this is where she rubbed people up the wrong way.

antelopevalley · 24/12/2022 20:16

@Dartmoorcheffy I believe someone could have said that, but it was very cringy.
But the press have behaved terribly and Harrys own family according to him have leaked against Harry and Meghan to the press. To me that is the big news.

OP posts:
Dartmoorcheffy · 24/12/2022 20:28

I don't think that the family have leaked stuff, I'm more inclined to think it's people employed in the Palace that have sold the information. I just can't see what Charles, or William would gain from it.

purpledalmation · 24/12/2022 20:36

Go and wrap some presents. The whole thing has been done to the point of utter boredom.

SighsTheNewWord · 24/12/2022 20:41

I agree. She wouldn't have gotten married to him if they had a problem with her being biracial or her mum being Black.

I don't read the rags, but do watch panelists and other talking heads giving us their hot takes on this. I note that they are steering away from the main points that have been raised. Especially in volume II.

Overall I agree with your points :

  1. How could they know that H&M wanted to relinquish their titles otherwise? Also, note how this title thing was constantly used as a beating stick for H&M and has been effective for the last few years. It's like Piers has been briefed to use it.
  2. I believe this hurt Harry the most out of everything that took place. Though I felt a tad, just a tad, sorry for William, he must hate himself for this and the Diana gaslight, but would have felt he had not choice, otherwise the institution would totally destroyed him and (maybe threaten his family) if he does not do as they say. They are already destroying Harry, it would be worse for William to divert, so much rests on his shoulders.
  3. Yes, they already told us about the leak when with Oprah. And I think Tyler Perry has pretty much confirmed it. (What a legend, btw).
  4. Yep, I totally believe this one. It's mostly homely middle aged Caucasia women women who run the hate accounts via YouTube, in the mainstream media and SM. They have been outed plenty of times.
  5. He did point this out on Oprah too. This time, he showed evidence that it's not just in his head, by showing evidence.

That's why I say this documentary is good.

I agree with you here.

I watched the first part of the series whilst I had covid so thought I might as well watch the second part.

Although their story is lovely, it just seems (think I put it in another post here), too good to be true. They never criticise each other or have arguments so it seems, or admit to them.

I do think she over exaggerates a lot of what’s happened or tells white lies and Harry just goes along with it and adds his own spin on the story to get his own sympathy votes. As I said on the other thread I really believe Harry hasn’t had much in the way of bereavement counselling and is still hurting. If I know Americans but Californians, they’re very into therapy so Meghan has fed into all that for him and her own issues. I actually felt quite cringey seeing them both twice doing yoga, like “we’re two enlightened beings who can rise above all this toxicity”, yet they’re not moving on and they not once seem to have fed back once, twice etc that they themselves might be at fault. It’s all about how they’re treated. Their friends don’t seem that genuine either, just lapdogs.

As I mentioned before why on earth they didn’t listen to Michelle Obama’s advice is beyond me!

SighsTheNewWord · 24/12/2022 20:50

The small number of social media accounts run by mainly white middle-aged women who push hate for both of them but especially Meghan.

Totally.

I doubt they'd want to show the world that they argue or criticise each other, even if they did. It's basically presenting a united front for what they're doing and I don't blame them for that.

antelopevalley · 24/12/2022 20:59

@notanotheroneagain I agree those who attack Harry and Meghan do not talk about the main points in the programme at all.
It seems like many have a crib sheet of very minor points that they constantly talk about instead. Like who cares if they do yoga or meditation?
I understand your point that the main points have been covered before, but I do think this programme outlines them more clearly.

Yeah, that was an odd thing to say from that poster. Why on earth would they show the arguments, when the documentary is about their love, positivity and addressing the lies that have been said about them. There is already more than enough negativity presented about them out there.

They probably don't do much fighting, tbh. So I don't see why they should concentrate on that.

Now, only thing left is to pop the turkey in the oven, and only worry about basting. My part done. 😁

antelopevalley · 24/12/2022 21:13

@notanotheroneagain Glad you got it done. I am ready. We are all going to midnight mass later so teens just went to spend time online. DP is having a nap.

It surprised me just how much the actual programme varied from what was talked about on here. And how many outright lies were told as well.

Run by mainly middle aged white women, there’s a word for those women isn’t there. Nothing misogynistic about that.

@headstone The racism and misogyny from those tiny group of women is very sad.

This.

I haven’t finished all episodes so I will reserve judgement for when I do. But I’ve a lot of life experience and I honestly find people who claim to be perpetual victims are actually the ones who are the bullies and who cause problems for themselves.

Was talking with DH before and his brother is a fucking PITA victim complex who causes all his own problems but blames them on others and their childhood - a latest example - having his car removed because he didn’t renew his tax…he says he has problems focussing after his parents divorced….they divorced when he was 11, he’s now 43. Also he’s smoked a lot of weed in his time which makes him paranoid (apparently a little like our friend ‘H’). If he went on TV moaning about his terrible life and everyone out to destroy him and his awful childhood he’d have people sobbing their eyes out. When in fact it’s mostly bollocks and he’s a nasty, bullying little emotionally abusive fucker.

Anyway H is not my BIL but I can see similarities in the victimhood and total lack of taking any responsibility. I dread to think what would happen if he found an OH to validate his stances.
