The royal family

To think Prince George is never going to find a life partner?

Who on earth would marry into the Royal Family, at this point?

What sort of parent would send their child to the slaughter-house?

The monarchy could well end up crumbling because no-one will be willing to marry into it - due not only to unacceptable levels of press intrusion, but also social media (and God even knows what that’s going to look like by the time George (and his siblings) come of age).

I would say the future life partner will be accepted by the royal family and the press as long as they not not mixed race or from another heritage…

Basing this theory on how Meghan has been treated.

trollopolis · 20/12/2022 23:10

What sort of parent would send their child to the slaughter-house?

I think it's likely he'll marry a proper adult, not a child doing (or not doing) their parents bidding

Mumoftwoinprimary · 20/12/2022 23:11

As someone said above - Boris Johnson has had many wives. Plus an unknown number of children with women who are not his wife….

HeddaGarbled · 20/12/2022 23:11

slaughter-house

Oh, don’t be so silly.

dannyefcfan1 · 20/12/2022 23:12

Maybe one day this country will grow up and stop caring about princes and princess and castles.

Maybe.

PepsiMaxandPringleStacks · 20/12/2022 23:13

The aristocracy still exist...

WeepingSomnambulist · 20/12/2022 23:18

Do you think women marrying in get fertility testing (since it became medically possible)?
Nothing to do with the OP, but I have wondered if Kate or Diana were checked out in that regard.

SighsTheNewWord · 20/12/2022 23:19

You underestimate the different kinds of people in the world. Of course somewhere out there, some parents are already planning...

And a boy/girl is already dreaming of marrying a Prince - Prince George to be precise - when they grow up.

Delectable · 20/12/2022 23:19

Kate and her mum invested a lot of effort to marry William.

Many like Piers and Jeremy will do anything to get into the RF which is why they can't understand M&H.

Charles schemed and deceived Diana so he could marry a non-divorcee and have heirs. Dumped her after he was sure he could change public perception and the law instead of abdicate honourably like his grand uncle.

Then there's free travel, board, lots of servants, children's education, healthcare etc all paid for; then a lot of power and influence. Very many would love that.

JenniferBarkley · 20/12/2022 23:22

I dunno. I reckon George and partner would be defended more than Charlotte or Louis.

If Charlotte or Louis marry a woman, then god help her in the press.

I did say ‘life partner’ to be inclusive. Wink

I do realise he’s 9 and not exactly looking to get wed yet, but I forget how literally people take things on here.

I just thought it was an interesting thing to ponder.

Harry found it difficult to find a girl willing to marry in, and that included aristocracy.

I’m sure there will be people keen for the job, but anyone keen for the job is probably the least suitable person for the job.

I’m just saying - when the time comes (of course), there will be a generation of young people who will, for the overwhelming part, think ‘no thanks’.

I think at some point there will come a reckoning between the RF and the tabloid media. More laws need to be passed around content and on social media too.

Irrespective of if you’re team H&M or Team RF, it’s not nice for any of them and is just a question of how shit it is.

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 20/12/2022 23:24

Well Katherine wanted to marry into royalty... her parents pushed her .

There will be many young, aristocratic women who will self flagellate in order to marry into Royalty.
Don't forget that we have no idea how the aristocracy works... it's very archaic. They generally marry for money, power or titles. Preferably all three. They seek love elsewhere.
Courtly love and all that mediaeval jazz.

SighsTheNewWord · 20/12/2022 23:25

I don't know, Kate's doing well so far.

Oysterbabe · 20/12/2022 23:26

He'll be fine, he's going to be King. It's the spares who might have a more difficult time.

ThanksAntsThants · 20/12/2022 23:26

Yeah, I’m sure the infinitely wealthy future king is going to struggle for suitors.

MysteryBelle · 20/12/2022 23:26

Why are you even saying this about a little boy? And you picked him specifically instead of children of other people in the family. I remember the vile cartoon series broadcast depicting Prince George as gay, with one or two of the celebrities playing the characters friends of Markle’s. Sick. Glad it got taken down.

00100001 · 20/12/2022 22:48

He's 9.

Nine.

Why would you even think this??? About a child.

It's going to be 20 years or so before anyone needs to "worry" about this...

And you never actually know;20+ years down the line the whole "immediate royals have to get married" might go out the window and he might just co-habit and his chosen life partner might not be a woman either.

The world is changing and the monarchy may well change with it.

DrWhoNowww · 20/12/2022 23:29

“What sort of parent would send their child to the slaughter-house?”

I find this level of group think/brainwashing of the British public fascinating to be honest.

somehow, over the last few decades we’ve become convinced being part of the royal family is a terrible thing, a slaughter house, you definitely wouldn’t want to be part of it with all that dreary duty would you?

Apart from, really, it’s not like they’re doing anything difficult is it? I’d like to have their problems and get compensated in the way they do…smile, look pretty, draw attention to some charities, ignore whatever rubbish has been written in the papers/on tv/social media. Rinse and repeat.

I can think of several hundred million reasons why someone might be willing to marry George. I think you could move a decimal point to the left and still find plenty of takers to join him in a life of extraordinary privilege.

Glassofwhatever · 20/12/2022 23:31

15 years away maybe? The world will undoubtedly be a very different place by then for good and bad reasons, hopefully all ok for all of the children

Singleandproud · 20/12/2022 23:32

If parents were queuing up and happily sacrificed their daughters to a King eager to behead them following the smallest infraction then I'm sure modern day gentry will be happy to encourage their daughters to marry him if it's just a bit of intrusion.

TrashyPanda · 20/12/2022 23:33

Harry found it difficult to find a girl willing to marry in, and that included aristocracy

for all we know, that could have to do with his personality, not his status.

NowThatsWhatICall22 · 20/12/2022 23:34

note to OP- he’s not your child, so it’s not your concern or business. He’s 9, so why start a thread about a young child (again for the people at the back; he’s not the OPs child)? Can we at least respect his privacy and right to a childhood no matter what the future holds for him…and in case I forgot to say earlier, he’s not your child.
