The royal family

To think Prince George is never going to find a life partner?

Who on earth would marry into the Royal Family, at this point?

What sort of parent would send their child to the slaughter-house?

The monarchy could well end up crumbling because no-one will be willing to marry into it - due not only to unacceptable levels of press intrusion, but also social media (and God even knows what that’s going to look like by the time George (and his siblings) come of age).

It’s really not about Prince George, per se.then you should have chosen a different title. It's nasty.

Yes, clearly. Put me down for a village-wide flagellation at dawn.

At least we can take solace in the fact that he doesn’t read MN and so will be none the wiser about this thread.

William and Catherine married.

I think that Harry is not a necessarily typical royal Prince. He was something of a rebel, before he married. He took badly to the press cameras. The impression given is of someone a bit footloose and fancy free. In courting the idea of marrying Harry, a lady would become aware of a disconnect between what he stands for and what the monarchy stands for.

We can't tell how truthful 'true reveals' really are, but a lady recently published a piece in a British newspaper describing how she met and dated Harry when he was in an 'on/off' phase of his relationship with Chelsey Davis. She wasn't quite sure how 'off' that phase was. She had great fun with him and liked his personality. It's possible, though, that some of Harry's pre-marriage girlfriends were also put off by aspects of his take on life. They may have found him a bit free and careless. It might not only have been royal protocol which deterred possible partners.

I've noted that pairings of two serious and focused people, who want what marriage has to offer, tend to go well. I see it in my own family. I had a serious side, when young, but also like going out, and experimenting with clothes and image, and forgetting to get essays in on time, when at uni. My relative and her husband, when young, both focused on their degrees; wanted stability and a home, were never silly and never went in for weird fads. They liked spending every Sunday at her mother's house - sharing a traditional type Sunday dinner and chat I think their personality type suited them to married life and they are happy with the 'boring' and ' dull' aspects of going through the various stages of life.

Whether George also finds a partner without too much trouble will depend on his personality too.

YABU. There will be people even now who are making life decisions for their daughters based on the likelihood of getting to know Prince George.

I’m really hoping he turns out to be gay. That would shake up the old fashioned stuck up “firm”

Then again, no doubt he’d be “advised” that homosexuality is not an option

MyBooksAndMyCats · 21/12/2022 07:23

He's 9, what a weird thing to say about a child.

I’d suggest there will be no shortage of women who will want to be become Queen in future.

ReneBumsWombats · 21/12/2022 07:29

Even Henry VIII managed to marry again after disinheriting one wife and judicially murdering two more.

There will always be people who want to marry wealth and status, especially if a crown or title is in it too. He won't need to look far.

Well look at someone like Boris Johnson, I couldn't believe anyone would touch him with a bargepole and yet...money and power do strange things to some people.

Money and power do strange things to women you mean.

KatherineJaneway · 21/12/2022 07:31

There'll be plenty lining up to marry him.

TodayInahurry · 21/12/2022 07:34

I did a you.gov survey the other day about the Markles, 75% of people don’t like her, including me. If she was a normal person posting on here she would be called a narcissist!

She and Harry are behaving like overindulged toddlers. It won’t end well for him, sadly

lifeinthehills · 21/12/2022 07:37

I'm sure he will. It wouldn't be the life for me but someone else won't mind. Besides, isn't it his duty to marry and produce an heir?

anyolddinosaur · 21/12/2022 07:48

He has loving parents who seem to be doing a pretty good job so far of raising him. As long as he has a decent personality when he's older someone will love him and take the risk. It's Charlotte and Louis who may struggle if sibling rivalry turns them into whiny brats but again they have good parents, so after rebellious teenage years they'll probably settle down.

Yes, history shows how much men don't give a shit about them...

cakeorwine · 21/12/2022 07:56

The Truman Show will continue.

Or maybe, just maybe, he will want out. He might get on well with Harry and think that's the life for him.

"Slaughterhouse"?

I think you are being a bit over dramatic here.

Who knows, he’s only a kid, perhaps he’ll marry another bloke.

Oh I hope so

Wafflesandcrepes · 21/12/2022 08:02

This thread makes me really uncomfortable. We shouldn’t be discussing the likelihood of a child meeting a life partner. This thread should be taken down.

IneedanewTV · 21/12/2022 08:05

He is 9. He might choose to not get married. He might be gay. I hope by then the monarchy has changed and he doesn’t have to dedicate his life to it. But I probably will not be here by then.

SaveMeCheezus · 21/12/2022 08:05

This may have been an error but I think to cast all the family as racist is leaping beyond the evidence.

Let's face it, while Prince Philip made some questionable remarks in his time, there's only one living Royal who has actually been captured on film using racist slurs, and dressed up as a nazi in public.

Methinks Harry protests too much & Meghan must be either absolutely mad, completely blinded by love, or the worlds most audacious social climber to ignore it.

It's not really about George though.

Really it could be about any of the Royal children.

But yes - there will always be someone who is prepared to join the RF, despite the constant media attention, scrutiny, expectations and a life like the Truman Show.

Cliff1975 · 21/12/2022 08:07

I am sure there are plenty of mothers trying to plan how their daughters can meet him, just as Kate's did.

Very true if you mix in those circles.
