The royal family

To think Prince George is never going to find a life partner?

Who on earth would marry into the Royal Family, at this point?

What sort of parent would send their child to the slaughter-house?

The monarchy could well end up crumbling because no-one will be willing to marry into it - due not only to unacceptable levels of press intrusion, but also social media (and God even knows what that’s going to look like by the time George (and his siblings) come of age).

Yea they have.

I Id wrath’s what hypothetical means. It doesn’t mean its appropriate to speak about the hypothetical romantic future of a 9yo boy

Romantic future? Who said anything about romantic future? You’re talking about the future king. To my mind, in the context of discussion of his future, you’re talking about his and his partner’s thoughts and feelings on (1) duty (2) the church (3) fame/infamy (4) tradition (5) where they live their lives (5) loss of freedoms and liberty in return for no financial worries (6) intrusion into the lives of friends and family etc. These are the things that marriage/partnership are much more likely to occupy time and energy, than romance.

Why do you insist on going down the path of romance / sex?? It’s indecent when you’re talking about a 9yo boy.

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 22/12/2022 19:22

@Suemademedoit because presumably a spouse brings romance to one’s life. That’s what this thread is about - not who his friends will be. But who will be his romantic partner. I know half on MN are married and celibate but most normal people have a romantic relationship with their OH. And it’s not appropriate to speculate what that will look like for other people’s children

🤦‍♀️

I give up.

For God’s sake - the thread is not about who the future King of England, Britain and a number of commonwealth countries will be having sex with.

Why are people being so deeply weird?

It’s about the challenge for the future King of England, Britain and a number of commonwealth countries in finding someone - anyone - who’d be willing to step into the job and the untenable scrutiny.

There is no King of England. Hasn’t been for hundreds of years.

Surely if you are King of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth, you are also King of England?

Last I checked, he was King of England. And Britain and a number of Commonwealth countries.

I think his title is King of the United Kingdom but I’m sure someone more knowledgeable than me will come along.

MissMarpleRocks · 22/12/2022 20:14

And dominions

HitMeWithAHotNoteAndWatchMeBounce · 22/12/2022 20:40

His title really, really isn’t the point………… 😑

Bit young to be contemplating a life partner, isn't he? 😂

No, my daughter was born 6 months after George & married them off😅 now I just need to contact Carol M for tips on how to make it actually happen 😁

I think it is an interesting question. The overall utility of a royal family is declining by the decade as anything more than a kind of perverse Truman Show public spectacle that doesn't guarantee security and respect. Si the field of young people who would volunteer to marry into it must be declining, especially if they are sensible and capable.

Yet the institution relies on primogeniture. So it's potentially interesting to see how it all washes out.

Endlesssummer2022 · 25/12/2022 22:51

The deeply disturbing posters are those who keep trying to derail the thread by banging on about how inappropriate it is to discuss the future sex life of a 9 year old. No normal people including MN mods thinks this is a peado thread which is why the thread still stands.

The whole point of the the monarchy is about retaining power through marriage and lineage. I would not be surprised if future marriages are discussed by his own parents to ensure the best possible future for the family. It’s not about sex, it’s about business relationships securing a concentration of money and power.

Right. Asking who would want to marry into the Monarchy given the worsening state of press intrusion over the last generation is much weirder than people taking about a child’s sexuality and sex life.

Are you quite OK?
