Harry and Meghan's show is number 1 on Netflix in the UK and US. Did you watch it people of Mumsnet?

I'm watching it now. I'm glad they're happy and in love, they both deserve that, but I wish they'd go away. Not from their charity work or general work but from profiting from their relationship. It's relentless.

I hope that once all episodes of the Docuseries are out and Harry's book is released, they draw a line and move on. I say that as a stan lol

So did you watch the Docuseries then?

Yes and it doesn't change the fact that she lied about having a private marriage ceremony.

Cool, I just wanted to know if you'd watched.

If you watch it they’re less likely to go away as Netflix / other think they are popular content

In answer to op no I haven’t

Of course it got high viewers, you've got the haters, the fans, the rubberneckers, the people just interested because everyone's talking about it. There's so many demographics who'll watch it, frankly it would be shocking if it wasn't highly scoring.

Mind for the record I've not got round to it and with all the coverage and snippets I'm not sure I actually will.

PrinceHaz · 09/12/2022 15:13

I think it was reasonably ok viewing, better than I expected. I don't get a vibe that they're bad people.

I read that the Daily Mail dedicated 16 pages to the series 😅

No wonder people feel like they've seen it without seeing it.

I do hope you get round to it, its a great watch.

I like Meghan but probably won't watch it as it doesn't look like my thing.

I am not English and wasn't even born in this continent so have minimal interest in the Royals in general. They do seem like nice enough people though and I don't understand why anyone hates any of them enough to throw eggs or send hate mail etc

I started watching Wednesday today and quite liked that, although it's obviously very silly. Also Gomez and Morticia are 🤢. Beautiful and glam as CZ-J is.

I love Wednesday, the writing is amazing. Christina Ricci on the show is a nice treat.

I didn't but I didn't watch anything else on Netflix either, I was too late to cancel this months because of lack of content but have cancelled for January, I will rejoin when they put something decent on

It attracted the biggest single-day audience for any Netflix show since the streamer joined ratings body Barb in October 👏

www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-63915851

How many other much-hyped brand new releases has Netflix put out in the last 60 days? (Since October really isn't an accolade when you stop and think about it)

As this is a time when Netflix is losing subscribers, I should think their viewing numbers are down, and I would be concerned if a new show didn't draw them in

Sling · 09/12/2022 15:21

@tatala
The irony is this is gold for the Daily Mail. They must be rubbing their hands with glee watching all those clicks.

From a pure business model perspective it's a fascinating study although I'm not sure H&M realise they aren't the actual winners.

user1634987 · 09/12/2022 15:24

There has been very little any good on since October though, I tried to watch 1899 but that was rubbish, I will probably watch Lady Chatterlys lover before my month expires but I can't find anything else good to watch

Absolutely, it's Christmas come early for the DM, so was Oprah. Hours of content to dissect.

Will give Lady Chatterlys lover a go, i've heard good things.

Netflix is very poor value for single viewers like me, DH never watches it, you have to pay loads for UHD content which other streamers put out as a matter of course.

I cancelled mine earlier in the year and only brought it back to watch Wednesday and this H&M series, will probably put it on pause after till a new show draws me back in.

This type of comment makes me despair!

I don't understand the level if vitriol towards H&M. In fact, it only strengthens their case for leaving and the wanting to share their side of things.

I thought from a sociological/anthropological point of view it was interesting viewing. The series is shining a light on an aspect of British culture and highlighting that important conversations aren't really happening. The point about how the British elite still benefit from the Commonwealth was particularly hard hitting.

I think it was brave.

You've missed the point somewhat.

Cheeseandhoney · 09/12/2022 15:30

Yes but I found it very dull and switched off as I got into the third episode as it was not holding my interest, I couldn’t persevere any longer. I’m not sure I will watch the next three as I couldn’t trudge through this three, only if it gets a bit outrageous will I. Right now it’s the same old rehashed shit

LadyKenya · 09/12/2022 15:32

Yes I did. I am not surprised by the ratings. Harry and Meghan generate a huge lot of interest, as evident on here even. No doubt a lot of the haters could not help themselves from viewing it either, even if they say otherwise.

user1634987 · 09/12/2022 15:33

I'm not that bothered about them, not enough to spend 6 hours watching it, Harry's voice gets on my nerves anyway. I am in the middle of a few other series on other platforms and H&M will take me away from that, I might try Wednesday though before my month expires as it has got good reviews.

Interesting, I've seen a few people call it dull or boring, maybe vol 2 will be a bit more outrageous 😀

It did feel like your average Channel 5 royal documentary in some parts, if you're familiar with those.

I watched it even though I said I probably wouldn’t bother. I didn’t really enjoy it. I found it boring to be honest. Very much us against the world and to be honest I don’t buy it.

I was more unimpressed with Harry to be honest than anything else.

I also don’t think they are going to slam and rip the family to shreds like the media seem to think they will. I think it will be more of “oh we wanted to give our say but not allowed” sort of thing.

I think it’s more likely the Palace aides and staff that will be thrown under the bus. Isn’t it Harry’s line that he escaped it but his father and brother can’t?

I’m also wondering with all the different organisations Meghan in particular is involved in, if they will touch on Andrew and his accusations?

Anyway I will give it a watch next week and see what further revelations will be.

I kind of wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but it’s done very little to change my feelings on them so far.

It was boring. There was very little actual content. I think the stuff about Brexit and colonialism was brought in to pad it all out.

EvilRingahBitch · 09/12/2022 15:38

Naah.

I see H&M as I do his late mother, or Alexandra Burke on Strictly: nothing in particular against them, and they've had unreasonably rough treatment from certain parties, but they're not my cup of tea.
