It was a very slick curation and performance likely intending to turn around the back lash from the OW interview by both correcting specific content and delivering a more considered personal presentation.
I suspect that they have studied how they were perceived in that interview and have worked hard to present a different / better persona. PH is roughly the same but MM doesn't appear to be the same person at all.
I think they achieved this aim - as they both came across better - calmer, more reflective, less angry and bitter.
Although the veiled / barbed comments re K positioned so subtly as to be plausible deniability if ever called out are v revealing of MM having spiteful / vexatious / manipulative traits which many will have seen, sensed and clocked before. Unnecessary really. Likely shot herself in the foot there.
I am surprised that MM said previously that it wasn't how she would have to told it because for these first 3 episodes at least it looked polished - maybe the show down is next week?
They covered the context of toxic racism in the U.K. MSM, SM, parts of the general public and politics well and how this had a huge negative impact on MM and their relationship.
Is next week likely to be about racism in the family and the palace more generally and how they colluded with media racism either actively or passively?
What jarred for me was PH to not taking this opportunity to apologise after 13 years for his own repeated racist abuse of his colleagues for calling them p*kis and ragheads and how he lied saying he had "learned" from a previous incident (Nazi uniform) and becoming aware of his own unconscious bias.
Also how MM expressed the trauma of witnessing her own mother being called the N word whilst she is sat next to the man she married who used equally offensive racial slurs repeatedly.
