Harry and Meghan's show is number 1 on Netflix in the UK and US. Did you watch it people of Mumsnet?

That's cool, I'm the only one in my family who's seen it 😑

Nope. I don't watch reality TV.

Not gonna lie, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it overall, some overwrought scenes but the Director did a great job.

You can watch it; it is unreality tv.

Right, it's a Docuseries but there's a certain kind of people calling it reality TV so I figured it was pointless to argue.

I do hope some give it a chance.

No, and I won't be watching, it's not really my sort of thing. I mean, no one gets murdered, they're not immersed in a world of magic and mayhem and they're not slightly crap vampires.

I'm sure I'm in the minority though.

Marulatree · 09/12/2022 14:37

It attracted the biggest single-day audience for any Netflix show since the streamer joined ratings body Barb in October 👏

Yes.

Astounded by the amount of talk about it though and the extremely strong opinions people seem to have of people they’ve never even met.

how disingenuous they are, how Meghan is a liar and a c* and fake. Shows the media have done their job well doesn’t it if you can have an opinion on somebody from complete hearsay and nothing has directly affected you. Absolutely mental Confused

LetsGoDoDoDo · 09/12/2022 14:40

I found it to be surprisingly compelling!

Wow, that's amazing. Apart from the content itself, I found the direction, pacing and flow of the series brilliant.

I'm sure the production team are well pleased.

This type of comment makes me despair!

I don't understand the level if vitriol towards H&M. In fact, it only strengthens their case for leaving and the wanting to share their side of things.

I thought from a sociological/anthropological point of view it was interesting viewing. The series is shining a light on an aspect of British culture and highlighting that important conversations aren't really happening. The point about how the British elite still benefit from the Commonwealth was particularly hard hitting.

I think it was brave.

ditherydotty · 09/12/2022 14:47

No, the trailer was enough for me, I'm not prepared to waste hours of my precious time watching two halfwits bang on about feelings and how hard done by the are.

beeny · 09/12/2022 14:47

Yes I watched it. I like both of them

I promise that it's way more than that, the trailer did the series a disservice IMO. Had plans to watch the first episode and get on with a few other things but I ended up sitting through the whole thing, it was very compelling.

If the trailer is the only thing that put you off, it's worth giving it a chance.

I watched it even though I said I probably wouldn’t bother. I didn’t really enjoy it. I found it boring to be honest. Very much us against the world and to be honest I don’t buy it.

I was more unimpressed with Harry to be honest than anything else.

I also don’t think they are going to slam and rip the family to shreds like the media seem to think they will. I think it will be more of “oh we wanted to give our say but not allowed” sort of thing.

I think it’s more likely the Palace aides and staff that will be thrown under the bus. Isn’t it Harry’s line that he escaped it but his father and brother can’t?

I’m also wondering with all the different organisations Meghan in particular is involved in, if they will touch on Andrew and his accusations?

Anyway I will give it a watch next week and see what further revelations will be.

I kind of wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but it’s done very little to change my feelings on them so far.

I think Harry could have done more to prepare Meghan in terms of teaching her the National Anthem, formality of the family behind closed doors, curtseying to the Queen etc None of that should have come as a surprise to her.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Calling Meghan a liar isn't forming an opinion based on hearsay, it's an opinion based on the words straight out of her mouth. She stated they were married in a private ceremony with just her, Harry and the bishop. That was an out and out lie. It never happened. She is a liar.

I'm watching it now. I'm glad they're happy and in love, they both deserve that, but I wish they'd go away. Not from their charity work or general work but from profiting from their relationship. It's relentless.

GlacindaTheTroll · 09/12/2022 15:03

Nope, I'm in the middle of watching something else, but might get round to it at some point (but as it's been so thoroughly described in so many places, I may well not bother)

But I'm not remotely surprised a heavily trailed new release is no1 in the first 24 hours after its release. Happens all the time.
