William and Kate now Prince and Princess of Wales

Charles has just created William Prince of Wales from today. So one question answered. Good decision.

Yes, I thought it was a good speech

I thought he seemed a bit choked when he mentioned Harry.

I found that speech quite lovely. Very heartfelt and his final words got me. I liked that he showed a little emotion at the end.

Just in the pub for dinner, everyone applauded and raised a toast to the King after his speech.It was very special.

He spoke beautifully. I'm pleased that they're not being saddled with being called 'Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge'. What a mouthful!

I hope that this will lead to a reconciliation with Harry and Meghan. It would be a great thing.

I am incredibly pleased with this decision, and one which I had hoped for.

King Charles made a very moving speech; we are lucky to have him as our monarch.

I thought it was a fantastic speech, even though it made me cry - again! And he ended with that wonderful line from "Hamlet".

William & Catherine will be an excellent Prince & Princess of Wales.

I also cried ffs 🙄 Sensible move to declare the Wales' straight away. I think it would have been nice if he had done the same for Ed & Soph (Edinburgh) but I'm guessing that'll come soon enough. I'm glad he gave H&M a mention.

Very moving speech, I cried too! The Heir to the throne usually becomes Prince of Wales at some point, but it's definitely the right decision to invest William straight away.

He has come across as a kind and generous man.

It was a very moving speech and it was lovely how warmly the crowds greeted him. Very good move making William and Catherine Prince and Princess of Wales.

I also cried, I felt for him so much having to make that speech. But he did himself, and his mother, proud.

I sobbed at the my dearest mama being with Papa, that set me right off. I thought it was brilliant, and couldn't stop thinking how hard this must all be for him, if I lost my mum I would want to be hiding away with family, but onwards he must go

Agree this is a good decision - will there have to be an investiture for W. now?

@bellac11 he means Duke of Rothesay. Historically it was the title of the heir to the Scottish throne. There are others too - Earl of Carrick, Baron of Renfrew, Lord of the Isles, and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland.

I got very teary too.

DH’s uncle has worked with the King on a few projects in the past, including Poundbery (he’s an architect). He’s always spoken very fondly of him, said he’s very genuine and earnest. He still gets a Christmas card every year from Charles and Camilla.
