Charles has just created William Prince of Wales from today. So one question answered. Good decision.

Wasn’t Margaret Beaufort ‘My Lady the Kings Mother’? So something like that does have precedent albeit from hundreds of years ago!

Yes, that's what I meant by some other title that referenced being the mother of the king.

As she was made a Lady (not a King)

Kate should not use this title in respect for Diana.

Utter bollocks.

Diana died 25 years ago. Move on ffs. William is now Prince of Wales and Diana was likely aware when she was alive that this would happen. Kate is therefore Princess of Wales. Absolutely no reason at all not to use the title.

Excellent address. I’m glad he mentioned his children by name. William & Katherine being made Prince & Princess of Wales was a good move which I think the late Queen probably suggested.

That titled has traditionally been passed to the heir to the throne since 14th century. So no surprise or huge decision that this happened this time round.

Me too, it was the end that got me, and the fact that he had mentioned Harry and Meghan

So William and Kate are Prince and Princess of Wales, then Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, but I got confused about what he meant by 'my scottish titles'

He was referring to the title of The Duke of Rothesay which has now passed to William. With that also comes other Scottish titles: Earl of Carrick, Baron of Renfrew, Lord of the Isles, and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland.

It was a lovely speech, he will make a wonderful King.

The monarch has gifted the title of the Prince of Wales to their heir apprant since the 14th century

The sheer sense of entitlement and arrogance of those assuming the people of Cymru all want an English 'prince' lording it over us - you'll find there are an increasing number of people against this. We're not a possession to be gifted to anyone but a separate country. This is supposedly the 21st century and dmocracy - do you not think we should be consulted? Also, the timing of the announcement stinks to high heaven - how disrespectful of Charles to announce this when he is supposedly grieving over his beloved mother with her literally having just died - or was that a deliberate ply to silence the objectors? Those making their opinions knows are labeled disrespectful but Charles is far more disrespectful - the monarchy is a very outdated fantasy which perpetuates the unjust class system. At least Elizabeth never made waves, unlike William with Lady Rose and Charles with bhis millions of pounds in cash gifted by wealthy people from the Emirates. There is NO prince of Wales, hasn't been for hundreds of years since our royal family was murdered by the imported English one - Charles may choose to 'gift' a title but a great many of us do not recognise or accept it!

Is it really bad that I've lived in Renfrew for many decades and I didn't know that King Charles (Then Prince Charles) was baron of Renfrew? I go to a lot of the town's events? Maybe my observational skills are dreadful because I feel like I should have known this? 😅(I don't expect him to turn up at the local Gala Day btw, just to show I do a lot in the town)

I wonder what else I don't know!

How has Charles lorded it over Welsh people in the last 53 years in practical terms?
