Fucking hell did the last one get deleted? No wonder everyone is leaving

SunbathingDragon · 19/09/2020 19:08

Will read back on the other one in a bit to see why it was deleted.

Purely based on the title, I imagine Harry would be quite at home at a helicopter club and would enjoy the time flying.

derxa · 19/09/2020 19:11

.

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 19/09/2020 20:18

The last I saw of the previous thread it was being massively derailed by a couple of posters who were obviously hoping to get it deleted through attracting lots of reports. They clearly got what they wanted. Ho hum.

I wonder what he found unappealing about the social life at RAF Wattisham?

Viviennemary · 19/09/2020 20:23

I didn't even know there was a new Harry and Meghan no deletions thread. Not seen them in the news over the last few days.

AnneOfQueenSables · 19/09/2020 20:42

Not liking the RAF base seemed an odd comment. It's not referenced so it's not clear where it came from. I wonder if it's just the DM stirring.
I knew someone who had a helicopter and they very seriously told me that it's not the buying a helicopter that's expensive, it's the upkeep. Grin I'm pretty sure the 'buying' is outwith most people's budgets too.

I’m sure helicopters are like cars and there is a huge range in price, but after a quick google I can confirm that one is not within my budget! Grin Which makes me wonder how extortionate the upkeep is!
Roussette · 19/09/2020 22:22

I am amused by the thread title. Then the Daily Mail link.

My DH has (or should I say 'had') a pilots licence.Long time ago. Very long time. He joined a flying club. To keep it up you need to fly. He would've taken any opportunity to fly in anyone's aircraft given half the chance. Harry is only doing what any normal person would.
It's just a crap DM story stirring it up.

AnneOfQueenSables · 19/09/2020 22:48

Yy exactly Grin He was from a very, very wealthy family so luckily could afford to buy and maintain his helicopter Wink

Iknowthingsthatwillhappen · 19/09/2020 23:20

Love the Daily Mail (used to love Today, now no longer Sad)

The last thread turned quite nasty .
Anyway , are helicopters eco friendly ? I genuinely don’t know .

Anon778833 · 19/09/2020 23:26

The royal family is over.

Viviennemary · 19/09/2020 23:28

It wouldn't be do bad if they actually bought and paid for the running of their own helicopter instead of scrounging freebies from other people. Same with charity. Never a hand in their own pockets but always encouraging others to give.

Flying them around purely to enjoy doing so isn’t and there are lots of modes of transport better for the environment.

I feel that if he wants to enjoy flying, and I don’t blame him for doing so, environmental issues are not where he is best suited at pitching his talks and encouragement to others.

The royal family is over.
Just googled and they are all still there. Smile
JaJaDingDong · 19/09/2020 23:47

Just commenting so I can find this c thread again.

slithytoveisascientist · 20/09/2020 00:57

I’d quite like a helicopter

Roussette · 20/09/2020 04:44

VivienneMary
How can you say 'never a hand in their pockets'. Blatantly untrue.
I posted this in the last couple of days

CAMFED - Campaign for Female Education
@Camfed
Just in, a message from The Duke & Duchess of Sussex, who are matching your INSPIRING actions by making a $130,000 gift to CAMFED:

‘No better way to celebrate what really matters. Thank you to everyone who donated, Harry and Meghan’

That's 116 women in SAfrica who will receive higher education scholarships because of this and it was very well received by CAMFED.

AnneOfQueenSables · 20/09/2020 08:55

I think it makes sense to keep up his flying hours. It's a link to his old life and is a skill he could turn into employment if he doesn't like producing eg air ambulance/mountain rescue like William did.

Maireas · 20/09/2020 08:58

Anne - those are good points and I was thinking the same. It's a practical skill and will keep him occupied. All those zoom meetings must get tedious. He could start a company giving rides!

Roussette · 20/09/2020 09:02

Agree. And it's not 'scrounging freebies from other people'. It's joining a flying club to keep his licence valid. As anyone with a pilots licence would.
I can just imagine the furore on here if he bought a helicopter, it would be endless criticism!

derxa · 20/09/2020 09:02

He could start a company giving rides! Grin

Maireas · 20/09/2020 09:05

Hello, @derxa! Thanks for your comments on the other thread. Did some people learn their History in the 1930s??

Maireas · 20/09/2020 09:07

@Roussette - now that would be entrepreneurial. Also a bit more healthy than giving talks about Diana /Royal Family /ecology or whatever. The way ahead!
