Thanks all 😍

Perditio, to be honest, when I read your posts and interpretations, I am seriously starting to wonder if you are indeed the only one who has not read their statements, because if you have you are clearly trying to twist it to suit a positive narrative, but have gone beyond anything logical on your attempts to do so.

It’s odd because either you’ve not read them, you don’t understand them, or you’re trying to make them something different to what they are. Whilst continuing to post after each illogical statement “it’s my opinion and I can express it”

Which is indeed true but you have to expect if you post something that is not logical people will either respond and question it, or simply not engage further.

If this is just a case of you twisting your self into knots, to try to defend and pretend it’s something other than it is, the question is why? These are two adults, they are hugely privileged, they are worth over thirty million pounds between them. They have the option of chasing a celeb lifestyle or a royal one, hey cannot have both. They could even retire into obscurity, they could live a life of simple charitable works. They literally have many many privalged options. What they do not have is the option to remain actively royal and to use that platform to make personal money. Nor should they. And disputing they didn’t wish this is senseless.

Their statements have been at best Ill advised or ill thought through. At worst grabby entitled and self absorbed. They are fully adult, nearly forty, living much of their lives in the public eye.

They know what they are doing.

They have chosen to do it. They and you need to deal with the fall out of that.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/02/2020 14:36

Without public interest, cause-driven work cannot exist. It would be mere personal interest

This is true, and raises the question of whether they have enough to offer to translate interest in them into ongoing interest in their causes

TBH I thought the Obama/Clooney-type "foundation" thing a bit ambitious, especially if A list support fails to materialise because of concern over their own brands being damaged in the current fallout

On a long term basis I wouldn't have thought Meghan's few photo ops/speeches and Harry's diminishing RF cachet would cut it in terms of real influence, but time will tell

lilmishap · 24/02/2020 14:37

H&M wanted to step down from being full time Royals to live a more independent life as a family and to remove the supposed ‘public
interest’ justification for media intrusion

Bit disingenuous, Is it media intrusion if you or your wife is arranging most of it and you have employed a Hollywood PR firm and given them the same brief the previous non Hollywood PR firm had of ensuring you're in the papers and helping your SM 'break the internet'?
You do these things when you want the public to be interested in you because it benefits you, not when you are struggling with attention.

They knew this. You know this. Why keep trying to paint it as normal understandable and predictable given that it is unprecedented, makes no sense and is a massive disaster so far.

Everybody in the RF was looking out for H and they likely still are, because it's becoming more clear that he is clueless

No, I doubt we will see Meghan in the UK again, I doubt Harry will be welcomed by a lot of the UK for a while

@peridito If you don't understand why it's being discussed, find another thread.

drina27 · 24/02/2020 14:46

The Telegraph wouldn’t give it print space unless it was undeniable:

Bitter and desperate, it's clear that Harry and Meghan don’t plan to quit the Firm quietly

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/02/2020 14:48

That's the Diana conundrum isn't it? As "the little boy behind the coffin" Harry's had a lot of licence and it's understandable if he's a bit blinkered on the subject of the media, but it doesn't follow that his "take" on it is all that matters

And flinging lawsuits - whether or not they're still going ahead (?) - isn't necessarily going to help

ajandjjmum · 24/02/2020 14:53

I didn't think that they would be able to stop the law suit. If Meghan withdrew, the DM would counterclaim for damages, so get their day in Court.

ilovejeffgoldblum · 24/02/2020 14:58

May I suggest.....
Harry stropper and the petulant princess!Grin

ilovejeffgoldblum · 24/02/2020 14:58

For new thread name !

NumbersStation · 24/02/2020 15:00

Not friends - The one where One is not collaborating? Grin

Alsohuman · 24/02/2020 15:00

Had a conversation with a friend about this yesterday. She said she thought that, after 20 years, pulling the dead mum card is getting pretty tired. While it must have been dreadful when he was so young, he really can’t seem to let go despite years of therapy. He must be a nightmare to live with if he hangs on to everything like this.

lilmishap · 24/02/2020 15:00

No the press appear to have joined forces to support the paper.
They want it all to come out....whatever it is

ilovejeffgoldblum · 24/02/2020 15:01

Grin very good!

ilovejeffgoldblum · 24/02/2020 15:01

Sorry that was to numbers very slow posting!

user1471590586 · 24/02/2020 15:02

I wonder if Meghan does turn up for any events whether anyone would actually curtsey to her now. I don't really see her as Royal as she hasn't played her dues. As someone above said, they are loose cannons. They had to lose the word royal as without direction from the palace they would have inevitably made numerous mistakes that would have reflected badly on HMQ. And it's clear they didn't want to take direction from the palace. They wanted to set their own court up, I remember it being reported. If you are turning up to events, and are there representing a head of state, you toe the line.

TheMustressMhor · 24/02/2020 15:03

Heavens.

This thread has filled up very rapidly.

We're nearly at the new one so let's make sure this one doesn't get deleted.

@Alsohuman It is weird that he has been bringing it up so often, but he hasn't got a lot else to sell has he.

NumbersStation · 24/02/2020 15:03

@ilovejeffgoldblum

Thank you Wink

TheMustressMhor · 24/02/2020 15:03

And there is no valid reason why pictures of cats cannot be posted.

annielouise · 24/02/2020 15:06

Yeah, sorry, I don't want the cats or food creeping in here - please!

TheMustressMhor · 24/02/2020 15:11

Being realistic, annielouise none of us can stop people posting pictures of cats.

OP posts:
7Worfs · 24/02/2020 15:15

annie that has been your most controversial post to date Shock

annielouise · 24/02/2020 15:15

No, obviously, but you set up another thread for that kind of stuff because a few threads ago others, including myself, wanted to stick to the topic on hand. Why not stick to that other thread for cats and food?

annielouise · 24/02/2020 15:16

Haha 7Worfs, I don't think so although was not around Saturday and most of Sunday so haven't been posting much lately. I've been SOBbing a lot too.
