Absolutely love this!😻

Allergictoironing · 12/08/2025 20:42

I'm feeling very mean. I dished out half of their dinner sachet, with a crushed Gabapentin in his. He gave me a very disappointed look, ate whatever Girlcat had left in her bowl, and wandered away.

He should be on semi-starvation due to blood tests anyway overnight & in the morning, so I persuaded him to go into their bedroom and have shut him in there all on his own with water and the poisoned dinner, seasoned with some Asda extra tasty chicken also dosed with tiny sprinkles of gabapentin dust (and a litter tray of course). I'm guessing he will have eaten at least most of that by the morning, then will leave him more chicken with Gabapentin in the morning in the hopes he will eat a bit more - that seemed to work mostly last time.

Girlcat meanwhile is happily lounging on the sofa requesting belly rubs, doesn't give one that the poor innocent boy has been imprisoned unfairly 😆

I massively sympathise with trying to drug reluctant cats Allergic, although neither of mine are anywhere near as difficult as Tobias. I'm currently enjoying not having to try and give Boris antibiotics, but I need to phone the vets tomorrow to check that his last urine sample was ok. He's currently decided that the urinary food he was happily eating is unacceptable to cats and seems to have got fussy about some of the Purina pouches as well. I'm reminding myself that it's usual for them to go off their food a bit in hot weather and trying not to worry.

Pianoaholic · 13/08/2025 08:11

I hope that Tobias will get used to the new regime!
Herbie has just finished a week of tablets (antibiotics) crushed up in his food, plus anti inflammatory liquid syringed onto food for good measure!
When he got back from the cattery, we noticed some deep scratches on his head. He must have rubbed all the fur off there whilst at the cattery as we hadn't noticed them before. I think it was probably from the same fight as his abscess ( when he had the hole!!).
He did eat his food with all its added extras, but was eating it more slowly than usual, wondering why it tasted different!

Allergictoironing · 13/08/2025 09:16

Well when I went up to give Tobias a tiny breakfast of half a Churu Pop & some of his favorite chicken (plus Gabapentin of course) he was hiding under the linen shelving and hadn't touched his supper at all. Don't know yet whether he's eaten any breakfast, waiting until Annie gets here to help with the trapping and carrying.

If he hasn't, they'll probably have to inject him with sedative to get the bloods as he isn't exactly amenable to either the necessary shaving or the needle!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 13/08/2025 09:41

Oh Lordy Allergic.

I hope it isn't too stressful for the three of you.

We've got to give Gizmo some GABA before his appointment next week. Luckily, he eats anything, so it'll be easy. (Famous last words - he'll probably refuse it).

Well he DID try to bite through the extra thick gardening gloves Annie was wearing (which I bought specifically for Tobias catching!). He put up one hell of a struggle too, but she got him in the crate.

He will now have to be sedated at the vets - that's another 50% on the bill. Thank goodness for insurance!

Basil has decided to 'help' me pack today's sales...

Allergictoironing · 13/08/2025 14:09

Basil is looking a shade unkempt for him today? I thought it was Lenny who is the scruffy one.

Or are yours having a mega shedding year like Girlcat is?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 13/08/2025 14:20

Lenny is the scruff - but they are all shedding like mad at present. Looking at that picture Basil definitely needs a brush 😁.

I think he’s calculating his wages.

Next installment of adventures with the catflap.

WFH today, so left the catflap taped open, and heard plaintive yowling. Stripey had gone out through the catflap into the side alley, and was sitting looking at the open flap and crying because she wasn't sure whether she could get back through the hole she had just gone out of.

When I came into the room and looked at her through the catflap, she suddenly realised it was still open and jumped through it.

She is now being very affectionate because I saved her from spending the rest of her life sitting outside our utility room door.

Now keeping guard from her usual place on the landing.

How brave Stripey’s being.

Now keeping guard from her usual place on the landing.

Does she always look so worried or is it just the angle of her eyes? 😄

stormsandsunshine · 13/08/2025 16:51

@Esgaroth She nearly always has a worried and alert expression in every photo. Even the photos from when they were little kittens cuddling - Snowcat is usually relaxing with eyes closed and Stripey is staring out with huge worried eyes.

She’ll also do something like deliberately knock over an object and look worried because it made a noise.

This is Pumpkin, he’s never bitten anyone, not even when I made him a little Trump wig from his shedded fur

Pumpkin looks like an excellent cat!
(notwithstanding the Trump hairpiece 😉)

Pudmyboy · 13/08/2025 21:39

@BebbanburgIsMine please please post a picture of Pumpkin in his Trump wig!😂
(ETA: Maybe post it on the new thread?)
Aaargh!! Ignore this! Just clicked on the picture so then saw the full image, with Pumpkin in all this wiggly glory!😂

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 13/08/2025 22:25

I love the Trump wig !
