Everyone should know it's rude to pick a cat up without asking first!

I wonder if the woman wanted to kidnap Gizmo?

Allergictoironing · 11/08/2025 08:17

Argh! Well sort of argh, sort of great. What with Tobias needing to be back to the vet Wednesday morning, then my appointment for my spinal pain injections on Thursday, didn't need anything else going on this week. Then yesterday get a text from Kings saying my December appointment has now been changed to Tuesday, as in tomorrow!

Boss not going to be terribly impressed at me needing an extra day off this week, but needs must...

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne Have you hung a note round Gizmo's neck saying 'Please look after this bear cat'?

If I did, I ought to add:

"Eats anything. Haven't tried him on marmalade sandwiches, but he'd probably eat them"

The cat food doesn't exist which Gizmo refuses to eat.

Allergic, I'm sorry you're having such an awful week.

I bought the demons a catnip blueberry pie by Battersea which arrived today. Toad loved it, even more when I put treats in which he had to snuffle around for. The others weren't as keen at having to work for their treats, but Fred did realise it's much easier if you take the blueberries out! Clever boy. It was only £4-£5 on Amazon but I think it'll provide a lot of entertainment at treat time.

Forgot the photos.

@Allergictoironing good luck this week

coastergirl · 12/08/2025 00:20

Just catching up. Hope things improve with Tobias. Walter and Benny heard whispers of new stag do plans. Walter slunk away, pretending not to hear. Benny started packing.

Allergictoironing · 12/08/2025 08:02

Today is collect Gabapentin from the vets and pick up all my own prescriptions in the morning, then brave the A2 into SW London for my Kings consultation. Tomorrow is Tobias to the vet for blood tests & possibly more examinations, Thursday is spinal injections for me.

Big boss wasn't in yesterday and acting little boss is lovely & just said "of course" & swapped my duty day from today to yesterday. Just realised that being off from Tuesday to at least next Monday (so 6 days out including the weekend) will be the longest break I've had since I started there over 2.5 years ago!

Tobias is eating fine, unless there's any type of anti-vomit meds in the food then he eats very carefully round that. No more sicky so far though, which is good. I had been at the stage where I could stroke his belly while he was eating, but he's anxious about that now - not sure whether that's just because the vet poked him where he's tender, or if he's sore there in general. He's also being more demanding about having strokes & head scritches recently, which I was thinking was just him having discovered the joys of attention until the vet suggested it may be a comfort thing because he isn't 100% well.

EmpressaurusKitty · 12/08/2025 09:30

Good luck with it all, Allergic.

RumNotRun · 12/08/2025 09:52

My 10 year old has just come home from a residential camp and this is how I found them last night. Safe to say Kettle's happy to have her back!

Well that was fun! (not)

Drove all the way up to Camberwell in London, aircon operating at full blast, got to Kings with about 40 minutes to spare. Then spent those 40 minutes driving round trying to get somewhere anywhere to park. Wasn't impressed by the police car parked in the disabled bays at the hospital either. 😡

Called the clinic to say I had been trying to get there but the only place I was able to park was a) resident passes only and b) too far away to walk, and it was already my appointment time by then. Every different borough has it's own rules on where blue badge holders can park, and I didn't know the rules for Lambeth of course. Lovely lady spoke to the clinic & I had my consultation by phone. Then a traffic warden walked past just as I'd finished, and she said I was fine to park anywhere except pavement marked double yellows, including resident bays. If I'd known they could do the consultation by phone it would have saved me hours of stress - driving home through the main shopping road in Packham in the rush hour isn't exactly the most stress free occupation.

Allergictoironing · 12/08/2025 18:04

Argh! PEckham

HumanToCatBeasties · 12/08/2025 19:27

Oh no Allergic! That sounds stupidly stressful, especially since they didn't need to see you in person. I hope that the consultation was helpful after all that.

Allergictoironing · 12/08/2025 19:53

Mostly successful. Yes they want to do the surgery, but my BMI is too high so I need to lose (quite a lot of) weight before they will do it.

Now the attempt to poison Tobias with Gabapentin, followed by locking him away in their bedroom away from any food all night 🙁

Pudmyboy · 12/08/2025 20:15

What a week you have had @Allergictoironing !
Everything crossed for Tobias for tomorrow, and for you with your own health issues 🤞🏼
