Many of today’s Young Idea use their electric telephones to catch up with their so-called music.

Why not adopt their cool look?

😀

Supersimkin2 · 04/06/2022 22:08

Havelock insane with excitement at the Jubilee Concert.

Ah, but Sybil would look silly curled up on one of those newfangled portable electric telephones.

I wondered why you;d withdrawn your 18.45 post Grumpyoldperson* , maybe you'd accidently Shock revealed ThugCats Real Name^

But it was a duplicate . Wink

Papergirl1968 · 05/06/2022 10:39

So glad Havelock is keeping you company, Lana.

Supersimkin2 · 05/06/2022 10:52

You’re so right Grumpy. Stick with tradition - altho it’s a relief not to have to wear a mob cap and apron any longer to lay out the cat breakfast too. Modern times give us much to be thankful for.

Capn hated the phone and slapped it out of my hand when it was lights off time in bed. He did let me wear my own clothes and have time off for church at Xmas.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/06/2022 11:14

Google tells me the name Tracie for boys means warlike so in my mind TC stands for Tracie. Because he’s so brace defending both houses from the grey and white cat while taking the fall for defiling the neighbours gardens.

Puddy woke me early scratching the bedpost. Zero fucks given either.

Really? As a cat owner I've always assumed I'm fulfilling the role of a feudal villein 🤣
A quick search provided the perfect definition.
-- one obliged to live on their lord's land and give him homage, labour, and a share of the produce, notionally in exchange for protection.

Hang on, who is protecting who here?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 05/06/2022 13:34

Considering their recent disgraceful behaviour. My cats must believe they are protecting me from being pecked to death by blue tits.

Defiantlynot41 · 05/06/2022 14:59

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats , it's shrews that I obviously need protection from!

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/06/2022 15:03

Top catting that is. Protect the food source from threats.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 05/06/2022 15:08

Yes, shrews, mice, and voles are obviously an enormous risk to us as well.
To be fair, I was bitten by a mouse I rescued from Karl once, - ingrate!

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/06/2022 15:13

Asbo used to bring baby rats but I like rats so it was very upsetting. I rescued one only for him to track it and come flying over a 6 foot fence with it again just so we knew we’d lost.

DH is trapped under a kitten.

Supersimkin2 · 05/06/2022 17:13

Nice. Perfect Sunday hobby, being bested by a kitten.

I’m shamelessly roasting a chicken with the back door open in case Havelock wants pot luck.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/06/2022 18:49

The kittens making himself look at home.

Allergictoironing · 06/06/2022 08:38

Hi all,
I need to ask a question even though I know the answer already (am just hoping to avoid the large vet cost).

Boone was in a bad fight I think on Friday. Can’t fully remember. Anyway. He was a bit sorry for himself etc.
This morning he came to sit on my lap and I stroked his back and there was a wet part. Assumed rain water and then the smell. Oh my gosh. Trying not to be sick.
Appears to be an infected scratch or abscess? It’s oozing yellow. I tried to wipe away the mess and he’s now washing it like no one’s business.
Vet? Argh. Of course this happens when DH away and I have DC on my own and life is already expensive…

LostCats · 06/06/2022 11:37

Argh. Booked. Have to get it cleaned. Poor guy

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 06/06/2022 11:38

Denizens of the litter tray, I have a non-cat related question which I'd prefer to raise here (just for your opinions) rather than under a more obvious topic (it could be rather 'outing').
Hope nobody minds - if you do mind, feel free to ignore. 😊. And apologies that this is quite long.
So, DS2 has a place at Uni (subject to 1 A level result), with an organ scholarship, starting this autumn.
Last week the vicar at the church where he currently plays, was contacted by someone at the university asking about him.
His offer has been in place for months, the vicar was not one if DS2's references, and his quoted references were taken up months ago.
DS2 is slightly alarmed that all of a sudden his uni are reaching out to people that he hasn't quoted as referees, after he has an offer.
What does anyone think may be going on?
And does this all seem rather unprofessional and a bit odd?

Vet yes your cat has an infection that is now 72 hours old , likely to be deep if its a bite and showing signs of illness being quiet .

I'd also suggest you start a new thread as your question will get lost in this Thread .

LostCats · 06/06/2022 11:45

Oh no worries. I’ve booked anyway as you’re right. It’s an old bite now. But thank you so much

YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/06/2022 11:47

Grumpy - I'd be suspicious. I'd want to know if it was an official or casual inquiry and whether the asker was someone who was known to the vicar or if the vicar was 'cold-called'. I'd also want to know more about the 'someone'; who were they - an academic or someone from the admin side. I'd also be checking the fine print of the scholarship offer. It does seem highly irregular. Have you checked with his refs re what they said and if they picked up any fishiness at the time.

You or your son could call the university and inquire I suppose ... although there are downsides to this.
