or turn on the electronic computer.

As contrasted to the steam-driven one.

PeloAddict · 31/08/2022 14:44

Ollie still moping about looking for his Sheba food Confused he's even been next door in the hope of chicken
I might get him some, it's not expensive and he eats it

Whiskas definitely did Rabbit & Chicken flavour. When it was discontinued our 17 year old diva flatly refused to eat anything for what felt like at least a week. It's the sole reason I never only offer their favourites these days, always rotate flavours and brands!

Its the correct thing to do. If you don’t age your human daily are you even a cat.

Allergictoironing · 31/08/2022 21:00

Since turning 60 last year I've played on the "old office git" thing, helped by the "I've got arthritis in my back" excuse. Since starting the new job, I've even managed to blend both of these with the ADHD card, not an easy thing to do!

Spoiler alert - I don't really play on them, in that I only use my back as an excuse when it's really bad, I take the piss out of myself regarding age, and I learned the coping mechanisms for ADHD about 20 years before diagnosis this January.

Dh has finally seen the black cat ghost I’ve been telling him about since 3 house moves ago. I feel vindicated.

Being the sympathetic sort I’ve told him to not make a fuss and it’s already something we don’t discuss.

Papergirl1968 · 31/08/2022 22:21

Tell us more about this ghost cat, Fluffy. I'm intrigued.

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/08/2022 22:30

It walks past the bottom or side of beds or is just going out of the bedroom door. You just see about 3” of the end of a tail. Earlier it walked past the other bedroom door so he thought Puddy was up but she was asleep as usual.

Puddys my first black cat so it’s not mine but it’s been around for over 10 years and moves house with us but doesn’t come on holiday. Maybe us going on holiday is it’s holiday.

PeloAddict · 31/08/2022 23:20

My dad still hears our old dogs tag on her collar. He sits down in a chair, picks up his brew and his other hand goes to the side of the chair to stroke her still. He said he saw her for years after

She was found as a puppy as the only survivor out a litter (mum also died), dad brought her home and giant argument. I was only little and she was a GSD. Turned out to be the softest dog with a protective instinct over me. This is her with him Smile dad never had another dog after

I had a ghost cat in the house I grew up in. Would usually sit on the end of the grand piano, or under the piano. Small, black with 2 white front paws, tiny splash of white on his chest & a white splodge on his face. Didn't follow any of us to our respective houses though.

Come on Allergic. That wasn't just any ghost cat, that was a Grand Piano ghost cat.
Love the idea of a haunted piano, must be a script for a Hammer Film there 😹.

Supersimkin2 · 01/09/2022 10:16

Oh she’s heavenly Queen. Soft!

I thought I was getting a migraine t’other night cos fleeting blind patches in eye while watching MAFSA - ate pill, ignored.

Black patch ate Prince’s supper and kipped on bathmat to recover.

Supersimkin2 · 01/09/2022 10:25

Who wouldn’t want a grand piano haunted by a kitten! Allergic, how stately yet sweet.

Well done on the ADHD coping techniques. You don’t have a link to anywhere useful online do you?

I reckon that piano played the Dreamies ad tune in the night.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 01/09/2022 11:11

I used to have a haunted piano. Not bad for someone who doesn't believe in ghosts 😂

Papergirl1968 · 01/09/2022 11:28

About three weeks after our Siamese died, I was putting on my makeup, not thinking about him at that particular moment, although I was heartbroken, when I heard his miaow. As if he had come to as goodbye.
And my dad, who was the most unwoo person ever, swore he felt him jump on the bed.

Supersimkin2 · 01/09/2022 14:37

Papergirl, that’s so dear.

I miss Capn - feels as though my heart is made of lead today. Fluffy orange fur haunts my dreams. Miss his fabulous sprauncy spirit and his fat cheek sticking up to be kissed. Hugely here, hugely absent.

You never stop loving people, do you. Kiss my phone every night with his pic.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 01/09/2022 18:24

Oh my god @Papergirl1968 - there's a thread about a Mumsnet article on Bored Panda... and you're in it!!!

The one about not knowing anchovies are fish...

😂😱🫣

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 01/09/2022 18:56

Tonight Basil and Karl are mainly practicing synchronised sleeping.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/09/2022 18:58

What else would anchovies be 😲they even look like miniature fillets in the tin (jar if your posh)

Supersimkin2 · 01/09/2022 19:07

I thought capers were fish. Easy to slip up😀

Can we get your autograph Paper? Pleeeeez

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 01/09/2022 19:09

I had to look up what capers were (bloody horrible things) - no idea they were flower buds 😮

Allergictoironing · 01/09/2022 19:14

Worked out how to cope with ADHD all by myself, as I was only diagnosed at the beginning of this year! Everybody is different too - e.g. my DBro is very much better WFH, whereas I work much better in the office, despite us both being diagnosed as "combined" ADHD.

In my case lists, lists and more lists, with every single little thing diarised with alarms on the Outlook calendar. Plus having a "rewards" system where I can only do "fun" work after I've done X amount of the kind of work that I have issues concentrating on.

Forgiving myself if I let something slip now & again rather than giving up because I'm a lost cause. Accepting that this is something that will always be part of my life, I just have to work on mitigating any issues it causes. MY DBro considers his ADHD as his superpower and his Kryptonite.

Oh god, the comments on Bored Panda! So embarrassing. 😂
No, you never stop loving them, Lana, and I do believe they never really leave us.

PollyCreo · 02/09/2022 16:33

I think Rosie is trying to tell me something? 🤔

Defiantlynot41 · 02/09/2022 16:58

That's a most disdainful look @PollyCreo ! What on earth is in those cans? Send out for steak immediately!

PollyCreo · 02/09/2022 17:04

I had to sneak a worming tablet into a piece of chicken yesterday so obviously Lidl's tinned food doesn't meet her standards today.
