Apparently they are both climbers, especially the tabby. FWK will suddenly yelp when we're talking, as his legs are being used as ladders.

The ginger always purrs as soon as he walks into the room, which I think is adorable. Things are still a bit fraught with the older resident cat, but improving. The tabby is a bit of a "tigger" bouncing up to her which elicits the odd hiss, but they're getting there.

On the subject of taxidermy...I enjoy going to estate sales...they are listed on a website with photos of items for sale....I was once very shocked when I saw a "taxidermy" cat that someone was selling. I later found out that said cat was very much alive and was sitting in a box waiting to welcome us to the sale 😂

i wonder how many people thought the same. Chap who owned Calke Abbey was into all that, stuffed animals everywhere in the collectors room.

Papergirl1968 · 01/06/2022 22:17

I'll be getting Matt stuffed if he bites me again like he did this morning. He was pawing at the duvet to get me to fuss him. When I wouldn't, because it was too cold to put my arms out, he bit the top of my arm! Even through the duvet it was bloody painful. 😮

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/06/2022 22:25

No wonder the dogs scared of him. Mittens is too good for them.

Supersimkin2 · 01/06/2022 22:26

Matt 🤣 that’s not a nice way to wake Mummy up, is it.

Bless, doesn’t know his own strength. Hope you feeling a bit better Paper.

Allergictoironing · 02/06/2022 09:35

Behaviours like Matt's make me so happy I have the politest cats alive.

Boycat will sit on the windowsill behind the curtains, on guard over his sleeping mama, until I wake up & have a pee. He will then join me back on the bed for his morning cuddle or 3. Girlcat will then appear in the doorway to ask if Boycat can go downstairs to play, and silently go away if he's not ready.

Always polite requests if they want something, the only time they demand service from their slave is if they are awake and decide I've spent too long on the PC in the other room. It starts out with The Stare, and if that doesn't work I get a loud squeak from Girlcat. That's it.

Never bitten, never intentionally scratched - not bad for ex ferals!

@Allergictoironing
Are you sure you have cats? I don't recognise these behaviors. 😹

Actually ours are quite well behaved although Basil is a bit of a bitey bastard in the morning. (We don't discourage it...)

Allergictoironing · 02/06/2022 10:53

Definitely cats! They rule the roost, but very politely. I think it could be because they spent so very long at the rescue.

Also, Boycat is so thick I doubt the idea of biting his beloved mama ever crosses his tiny mind, what few brain cells he has are fully occupied with things like breathing, eating, and getting belly tickles & ear scratches - no room in there for aggression!

They definitely do use their natural defences when play fighting and look pretty savage, but the worst even then was the odd tiny tuft of fur, never any blood or crying.

I’ve just had the vet’s bill for Havelock where Capn walked up to him peacefully sunbathing, slapped him across the face and walked off.

Precious memories, sniff. Havelock came in for milk ‘n’ dreamies yesterday.

Papergirl1968 · 02/06/2022 11:09

What made it worse was that it was very deliberate. At least the night time assaults on Socks seem to have stopped though.
How are you doing, Lana?

TheLongRider · 02/06/2022 11:45

As of this morning I am foster kitten parent to the wonderful 7 week-old Amos. I can't get a good photo of him because he's been killing a toy mouse or passed out purring in his sleep on my knee.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 02/06/2022 11:48

"foster"

Yep. OK. <nods supportively>
Of course he's a "foster".

Supersimkin2 · 02/06/2022 11:50

Long, the loveliness of Amos!!! What exquisite colouring he has. He loves you already.

TheLongRider · 02/06/2022 11:53

Well he's very confident. He's given a toy mouse a thoroughly good killing. He's sniffed noses with grey boy Mouse. Hobbes does not approve and they have growled at each other for 10 minutes. Right now he's dreaming in his sleep.

TheLongRider · 02/06/2022 11:56

Amos is black and white with faint tabby markings. He has a little white moustache and tuxedo markings.

Ollie has gone to adore MA bush which seems to have resurrected

Oh Amos; you are gorgeous! How long is he staying for?

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/06/2022 13:30

About 15 years 😼

OrangeBlossom28 · 02/06/2022 13:44

15 years you say...I think you might be right!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 02/06/2022 13:49

I love that Ollie's love resurrected MA bush.

I'm not sure that mine are cats either sometimes. Despite being rehomed by their previous owner they have never bitten or scratched me intentionally!

Hope you are doing OK, Lana.

TheLongRider · 02/06/2022 13:53

Amos is staying for three weeks. Hobbes has already had a fit of the vapours worthy of any 19th century Mama who disapproves of the new addition to the family. He is currently sulking outside in the garden.

OrangeBlossom28 · 02/06/2022 15:12

We often talk about getting another cat but are totally convinced this would be a disaster because of Martha. She would hate to share her home. We also think a rescue centre wouldn't place with us due to her. She is lovely but we'd like a cat that likes cuddles with all of us.

Papergirl1968 · 02/06/2022 17:03

Amos a beautiful. Very cute whiskers and eyebrows. I wouldn't be able to hand him back. 😻

YesItsMeIDontCare · 02/06/2022 22:23

Amos is staying for three weeks the rest of his li'l furry life.

Fixed that for you LongRider 😁

I wouldn't say my life revolves around my furry overlord... but I just told DH to take some Metacam for his back pain 🤦🏼‍♀️
