Dogs with human names

Martin. I just met a GSD called Martin.

Absolutely love dogs with human names but I think Martin for a GSD might be the best yet. Almost pipped by Gerald the Chihuahua.

Anyone else met any dogs with great human names?

Tbh the human names are increasingly getting more quirky and unusual so lines between traditionally human and animal names I think are increasingly becoming blurred! I always used to think I was going to own one of those Lady and the Tramp spaniel dogs and I was going to call her Melissa lol.

We looked after Charles and Andrew (mini schnauzers) once. I suggested to the owner that if he went for more, he might name them Anne and Edward.

I heard Susan the Labrador being called back to her human over the field recently.

I’m howling at a Rottweiler called Alan. Very funny. Bet he takes no shit.

My friend has a Stanley, I used to have a Bob. Now I have a Missy aka Madam!

My neighbour has a horse called John.

Tbf he looks like a John. It suits him.

A neighbour had collie crosses called Roger and Ricky. We had a greyhound called Alice.

I have Caleb my Westie! His name comes from the Hebrew Kalev, which means dog!
I also have 3 adult human sons
Caleb has been the biggest and best parts of my life for the last 9 years.

Is your friend with a Jeff dog a Father John Misty fan?

Hank, Baz and Fred, cats. Hank gets quite a few comments on his name.

Do they listen to their names? Of course not.

Does nobody call their cats proper, traditional cat names like Fierce Barry anymore?!

I've said this before on MN but I once met a liver spaniel called 'Gordon Brown'.

Loved it. Just loved it. And the young lad who was walking him said with such intensity when we complimented his dog; 'Yes. We are very proud of him'. It absolutely melted my heart. If his mum is a MNetter then she has an utterly delightful young man.

I wonder when The Cult of Dogs will end? Human names for animals are part of the problem IMO.

All our dogs and cats have had human names.
We've had Sylvie & Algernon, both Pyrenean dogs.
Our cats have included a Bram, a Hamish and a Claude, amongst many others.

A lot of the pet names we chose umpteen years ago are now trending as baby names - Archie, Theo, Wilf, Lili, Freija, Rose, Finn 😆

And way back in the day I used to ride a beautiful cob called Peter.

I've known, or still know, Peggy (2 of those), Stanley, Dora (2), Lucy, Dennis, Heidi, Flora, Rosie and Enid.

I used to know a sheep called Julian.

I know a dog called Stan and my friend always calls her cats proper names , the last one was Frank

Around where I live, all the dogs have human names and the human children have dog names.

I have a Jasper, Peggy and Bonnie (dogs). Amongst local kids are Arlo, Ziggy, Topsy, Rex, Sadie, Luna etc.

I also love when horses are given human names. DD rides a chubby little pony called Gary.

I knew a basset called Dave and a horse called Paul

I follow a sausage dog on Sm called Stan 😀

We know a Kevin, Bertie and William.

German Pointer called Betty! 🙋🏽

My lovely dog was Mabel.

I wanted to call my dog Janet. The kids shouted me down.
