Like if you're out and you see a dog - what dog would make you stop and stare?

For me it's a pure black or pure white standard poodle properly clipped out. I think they're gorgeous.

A golden retriever. I just adore them, so beautiful and majestic. We always try and spot them when we are out and about.

One day in years to come we will have one.

Setters come a close second.

Australian Shepherd and Apricot Poodles.

I’d love an Aussie, they are such amazing doggies. Never met one I didn’t adore. But realistically when Elderly Dog crosses the Rainbow Bridge I think a Very Little Apricot poodle would suit my “not very overly enthusiastic about hours of walking” lifestyle. Also I’m in love with my friend’s tiny teddy bear, AKA apricot, toy poodle.

Borzois or Salukis. Though tbh I'll be stopping to talk to any sighthound

DramaAlpaca · 20/11/2021 14:34

Greyhounds. I adore them.

Stellaris22 · 20/11/2021 14:35

Anything unusual. I love all dogs so will stare at most, but I love hounds. Anything that has hound in it will make me smile, especially if it’s a scent hound. Beautiful animals.

icedcoffees · 20/11/2021 14:35

Beagles, but I own one and am slightly obsessed Grin

Otherwise, Irish Setters, Old English Sheepdogs and giant breeds like St Bernards or Newfoundlands.

AtlasPine · 20/11/2021 14:35

Working dogs, especially assistance dogs. They never cease to impress me.

FindingMeno · 20/11/2021 14:36

English bull terriers and bearded collies

A slim, muscly working Lab.
An Irish Wolfhound.
An English Bull Terrier.

AnnaMagnani · 20/11/2021 14:40

Saluki, especially with feather. Cross will do.

Nothing like a Saluki in full flight.

Robin233 · 20/11/2021 14:40

German Shepards. Most beautiful dog on the planet.
As a child played a lot with my aunty's GSD.
And then my sister had one.
Such a smart dog.
I have ti remind myself not to fuss one if it comes into my space - at least until I'm introduced, as they are guard dogs.

Stellaris22 · 20/11/2021 14:43

@AnnaMagnani one of the regular dogs in our informal doggy group is a saluki cross. He is incredibly handsome and I watch in awe when he runs full speed.

Border collies, Jack Russell , Alsatians , Dachshund , Fox terrier , Doberman

magicstar1 · 20/11/2021 14:46

Always German Shepherds...they are the most beautiful dogs ever. Gorgeous soft brown eyes, beautiful coat....even their paws are a lovely shape.
I’m lucky enough to have adopted one and love sitting looking at her.

I walk a Sarloos Wolfdog - she's part German Shepherd, part European wolf (going back several generations).

She's stunning and I get stopped CONSTANTLY, lol.

Notonthestairs · 20/11/2021 14:50

Hungarian Puli.

Muttly · 20/11/2021 14:51

Soghthounds here mainly because my greyhound stops to acknowledge any other hound we pass. Doesn’t seem to get that other dogs are also dogs.

PieMistee · 20/11/2021 14:52

Love a giant schnauzer and an old English sheepdog. Since we lost our old dog at 18 my heart flips at any old dog.

Santaischeckinglists · 20/11/2021 14:53

Our Husky gets a lot of attention..

Which dog stops you in your tracks?
Stellaris22 · 20/11/2021 15:14

You definitely get more attention with unusual breeds. We have a Basset Hound and we get stopped a lot, or you hear ‘oh look, a basset’. You know a breed is rarely seen when people think it’s a dachshund!

I very rarely see Great Danes and I adore them, so stop and stare at those. Love Bloodhounds too but rarely see those either.
