Like if you're out and you see a dog - what dog would make you stop and stare?

For me it's a pure black or pure white standard poodle properly clipped out. I think they're gorgeous.

A boxer. Love them! I saw a puppy one today, so cuteSmile

TheYearOfSmallThings · 20/11/2021 16:20

A greyhound running is a beautiful thing.

missbunnyrabbit · 20/11/2021 16:23

Golden retrievers, huskies and king Charles spaniels.

SausageDogMum73 · 20/11/2021 16:29

I am biased but it’s golden retriever and miniature dachshund for me. I have one of each and they seem to get a lot of attention when we’re out.

CuriouslyStardust · 20/11/2021 16:31

A beagle or a King Charles spaniel. We own a beagle though so I always love spotting them, they are nearly always tail up and nose down!

Other than that I love seeing Dalmatians and have a soft spot for labradors.

A fellow beagle owner! :)

I love spotting other beagles! How old is yours?

PuppyMonkey · 20/11/2021 16:34

We get stopped all the time with our golden retriever - people always say it’s unusual to see a proper golden one, rather than a white one.Smile

I wouldn't 'stop and stare' (how bloody rude!) But I always like to see lurchers.

DutifulDaughterWifeMother · 20/11/2021 16:38

Shar Pei because I have one & I absolutely adore him & Cane Corsos!!! If I had a bigger hse with land I would definitely get a black cane corso. They look like a black panther

Nannewnannew · 20/11/2021 16:41

@PuppyMonkey
What a gorgeous dog! ❤️

Grumpyosaurus · 20/11/2021 16:43

Any well-trained working dog doing its thing. A little while ago I watched a collie get some sheep through a gate, over a lane and through another gate.

Almostmenopausal · 20/11/2021 16:45

And size or colour of Schnauzer! My mum has a salt & pepper miniature Schnauzer and he's absolutely hilarious! So daft and cute.

I also love orange poodles!

Crocky · 20/11/2021 16:46

I have a German Shepard with a proper puppy face. She gets either lots of smiles or scared faces. Not much in between 😁
Mine would be a Doberman. We had one as a child and I love them.

iloveeverykindofcat · 20/11/2021 16:47

My family has an extremely handsome dog (he doesn't live in my house, several family members live in the same village, but I walk him a lot). He's a really well-bred tricolour pembroke corgi with a huge feathered tail, symmetrical features and markings, and big, amber eyes that look like he's wearing eyeliner. He's also fit and lean, not overweight like a lot of corgis you see (not to our credit - unlike most corgis he's not that interested in food). At least two strangers per day tell him how stunning he is and his ego grows accordingly. He used to hold the title of 'best looking dog I've ever seen in real life' but I'm afraid there might be a challenger (don't tell him). The other day I saw a feathered saluki for the first time. It was utterly gorgeous, practically ethereal, almost like seeing a unicorn or something.

@DramaAlpaca

Greyhounds. I adore them.
me too
Horriblewoman · 20/11/2021 16:48

There's a st Bernard I see in a park sometimes and an old English sheepdog, it makes me so happy when I'm running round the park and realise they're there at the same time.

Day to day Spaniels will always have my heart.

loislovesstewie · 20/11/2021 16:50

I met a posse of Basset hounds this morning! OMG!! Absolute ecstasy.

CuriouslyStardust · 20/11/2021 16:54

He's 4 now and I'm sure he should be mellowing a bit by now! I certainly learnt what they meant by the breed being food motivated, far more than any other dog we've had.

He's an absolute star though, wouldn't be without him and he's so patient with the kids. They are such a fab breed aren't they Grin

Riverlee · 20/11/2021 16:54

The last dog that stepped me in my tracks was a Rhodesian ridgeback. Such a beautiful colour and a handsome dog.

pinkhousesarebest · 20/11/2021 16:54

Beagles. I’ve had them all through my life and swore after the last one died that that was it. They still make my heart leap when I see them though and when I retire I am going to rescue lab one.
My husband will divorce me as he had little time for their antics, but it’s ( almost worth it).

lovemyaussie · 20/11/2021 16:54

@NebbiaZanzare

This one does get lots of compliments WinkI think she's gorgeous, but I might be biased!

Mine's four in February :)

They're the best breed - the have fab personalities and their facial expressions make me laugh Grin

Chichichiwawa · 20/11/2021 16:59

Leonbergers too... Someone near me has three or 4 of them, we see them in the woods. Like great big cuddly teddy bears.

I recently met a woman with three Bernese mountain dogs (one would have been enough to stop me) but three! It was amazing!
There is also a couple in a nearby village who have 8 German pinschers…although that is less the breed and more my amazement of how they all have individual leads (which somehow avoid tangling!) and she holds 4 in each hand Shock

mydogisthebest · 20/11/2021 17:04

For me Afghan Hounds are the most beautiful dogs. They look wonderful when running with all their fur flowing.

I also love Salukis, Borzois, Doberman, Great Danes and Irish Wolfhounds
