Which dog stops you in your tracks?

Like if you're out and you see a dog - what dog would make you stop and stare?

For me it's a pure black or pure white standard poodle properly clipped out. I think they're gorgeous.

Pretty much any dog, and I've greeted several on our walk this afternoon. But especially breeds we've had at home: goldens, labs and dalmatians. But I have a soft spot for vizlas, bassets and sighthounds in general.

Irish wolfhounds are my absolute favourites but any large breed would get my attention. I really like Newfoundlands as well.

I had Old English Sheepdogs growing up. Stunning dogs and you couldn’t go anywhere without whispers of “look, a Dulux dog!”

There’s a Saluki in a rescue near me and I’m so tempted to break him out. He seems to have been mistreated before and has a lot of specific needs which I don’t think we’d be able to meet due to other pets. He’s gorgeous, though.

Pomeranian, samoyeds, Japanese and German spitz I grew up with a few and just adore them. also Dalmatians and beagles.

Not many 🙈 I show dogs and see lots of breeds regularly that before I showed dogs. Prior to showing many would stop me in my tracks, rarely now!

Now I'll notice dogs that suddenly catch my eye because they're beautiful examples of their breed not just because they're a particular breed. I've been know to not be able to help myself but go and tell their unknowing owner that their dog is an absolutely stunning example of their breed in my opinion! Usually met with a confused but happy face 😅

I do agree that Salukis, Afghans and Borzoi, when they're moving freely at a trot or gallop are just stunning. I also love a (nice I,e, good quality) Boxer, Irish and English Setters and Pointers. I absolutely adore American Cocker Spaniels in full coat (when they're groomed!!) .

Our leonbergers create crowds wherever we take them My biggest boy is about 80kgs and the size of a small shetland and people love him.

For me though it was a pack of Borzoi I saw at a show recently. Beautiful!

The working breeds for me. Nothing as beautiful as a Hungarian Vizsla, but German Shorthaired Pointers are also lovely. They are no good for working anymore sadly, as they are bred more for showing, but English Setters are beautiful. Dalmatians are stunning, but I need a gundog, so again no good for me.
I always say I don't like flat faced, poodle cross or bull breeds, but honestly put any dog on my knee and I'm happy.

Anybody who posts on this thread about their dog without including both breed AND pic is BVVVVU, and I blow my nose at them [honk]!*

Bedlington terriers, whippets, Basset hounds and Blood hounds.

Weimaraners, breathtakingly beautiful.

I always have a soft spot for westies, cute with attitude.

Our basset hound gets lots of attention when we’re out with her, goes without saying she loves it.

I’m the same on the very rare occasion I see another basset, except I’ll run over insisting on saying hello.

Boxer Dogs

If I see one I always have to stop and ask if I can give it a good old Pat and cuddle

I absolutely love them.

It’s a rare walk when this one doesn’t get stopped! Even when he’s covered in mud/soggy wet.

Springer spaniels. Adore them. Also a fit, well muscled lab.
