The trailer has just been released and I can’t wait!

It’s probably my favourite programme atm so it’s a shame it’s ending but I’d rather that than it getting repetitive and dragged out.

Shiv was amazing in this, all her power gone (see also Kerry and possibly Marcia for women loosing their power) and the scene where she knew she'd been found out was brilliant - Sarah Snook played it perfectly.

I found this scene really uncomfortable. Both Kendall and Tom seemingly made their decision to call the election, to get one over on Shiv - all the men talking over her, making the big decisions, Roman pulling rank saying she didn't actually have a pass to be in the room. It was ugly. For that scene alone I hope she comes out fighting and royally (see what I did there?) fucks them.

@blahblahblahandblahsomemore does Euan still own shares? Could he be the decider in what happens?

Not sure but I think so as I can’t remember it ever being
mentioned that he didn’t.

slamfightbrightlight · 16/05/2023 13:32

The article above suggests Euan has no shares but does have a seat on the board.

MayIDestroyYou · 16/05/2023 14:03

Noooooooo @LadyWhineglass, you have to tell me now! I won’t sleep …

Grin

(Pretty please ?)

The Succession hbo podcast is worth listening to, it explains all the political machinations of last night's episode.

I was starting to feel sorry for Roman over the last few episodes but last night he was completely repentant, urgh.

They are all compulsive liars, lying to each other and lying to themselves. Fascinating!

I have absolutely no idea how it will end, but I'm really looking forward to rewatching it from the very beginning with hindsight, I think it's one of the few programmes that will be just as good the second time around.

blahblahblahandblahsomemore · 16/05/2023 14:20

No matter what awful things happen to them they'll all still be billionaires so life not all bad ;)

slamfightbrightlight · 16/05/2023 14:36

I’ve watched the first three series twice and it really does stand up to repeat viewing. Some episodes are so snappy you miss a lot of the dialogue first time around.

MarshaBradyo · 16/05/2023 14:36

There was something about the way the news desk and room is set up and the whole thing is filmed that added to the pace

It really was a great episode - doing the election

US elections just have a bigger feel anyway

Going to be so sad after the finale. Will have to rematch. Tried to watch The Diplomat the other day and it compared so badly. Like every other show.

Rewatch

practicepracticepractice · 16/05/2023 20:03

I read a few times that Jesse Armstrong was know for the circulatory endings.
When Ken said to his daughter on the phone "I love you, I'm doing this all for you guys" (or similar words) it made me think of Brain Cox commenting on the HBO podcast that Logan really loved his kids and did everything for them and was hard on them because he loved them so much (don't have the exact phrasing, but I remember similar words).

I cannot wait to see how things end up.

MayIDestroyYou · 16/05/2023 21:31

Circulatory endings?

We’re going to end up with someone waking up and peeing in a cupboard? 🤔🤔🤔

Or (oh no, is this @LadyWhineglass‘ prophecy?!) Logan wakes up from a nightmare where he’s died and the kids are destroying his life’s work? 😲😲😲

Netaporter · 16/05/2023 21:33

Aww @LadyWhineglass share your thoughts! I did up thread. I love all theories 😂

For anyone thinking about their succession shaped hole after ep10 and who loved the ATN scenes, I’d highly recommend ‘the newsroom’ series which starred Jeff Daniels. It was bloody awesome. As is ‘the morning show’ on apple.

LadyWhineglass · 16/05/2023 23:10

Ok, as you’ve asked so nicely 😆

Shiv and Lukas go public about Kendal’s numbers and tank the WayStar share price.

a) GoJo buys WayStar for a pittance, boots out Shiv and installs Greg as CEO.

or

b) Greg is ditched as well

or

C) Roman and Kendal counter spill the beans on the GoJo India numbers and GoJo collapses. Both companies go under and there is no money.

A/B/C the board oust Kendal, Roman and Shiv because they interfered with the election result and they are left with no money and no power, all in a timeframe of 2 weeks since Logan died.

And Connor is broke as well as he spent $100m on his election campaign.

And something happens to Kendal’s daughter as Mencken’s speech mentioned the word “pure” (which means white) so there might be a hate crime of some sorts.

I feel that the finale will be the opposite of Line Of Duty, which just fizzled out, and will go out with an almighty bang. Sarah Snook said that she didn’t realise that the show was ending until she read the final episode’s script so something pretty final and dramatic must happen, ie there’s no way back for the kids to climb back up the WayStar ladder, particularly if there is no WayStar left.

IClaudine · 16/05/2023 23:17

I still think the drowned waiter might come into play somewhere?

MayIDestroyYou · 16/05/2023 23:59

Thanks, @LadyWhineglass! Nice speculation. I don’t think any of those outcomes would leave any Roy literally penniless, so it would be interesting to see, in ten years time, which of them lives permanently on a vast yacht loitering in the Med (aka in exile).

There has to be a reason for Greg …

Netaporter · 17/05/2023 03:08

@LadyWhineglass ooh interesting

@MayIDestroyYou when Logan died, Tom called Greg and told him to destroy a file called ‘logistics’. I’m guessing Greg did not and either has a copy or has sent a copy to someone as insurance. He has form for this if you recall, as he kept the cruises files he was supposed to shred and gave them to Ken when Ken went rogue. Shiv hates Greg and Greg knows this so it could be that Greg uses Tom’s info to block a move by Shiv to uncover her brother’s actions on election night. I don’t think Greg would help Shiv unless Mattson was involved as he hasn’t forgiven her for how she treated him back in s1 (remember her ‘borrowing’ his last $20 when he arrived potless?) There is definitely a point to Greg…..

blahblahblahandblahsomemore · 17/05/2023 05:55

The Greg and Jess scene was really telling too. I forget he’s actually quite young and IRL his actual contemporaries would be fully aware of the implications of the new president. I think the ATN voting ‘scandal’ is going to fall at the feet of Tom and the Roy’s will pull rank and let him take the fall.

LadyWhineglass · 17/05/2023 06:52

Uh Huh. Tom is screwed.

LadyWhineglass · 17/05/2023 06:53

The point of Greg is that he makes a lot of Tomlettes.

escapingthecity · 17/05/2023 09:43

@LadyWhineglass I like your thinking. Both sides locked in a death spiral with numbers which would spook the markets, crash their share price and tank the deal. That's even without the election night fuck ups.

I wonder if it will turn out that Mencken hasn't won and ATN declared it too early, undermining their credibility fatally.

Perhaps Pearce will come in and buy the lot for a reduced price so they can gut ATN.

I don't see Greg ending up as CEO. He's too young, his grandfather won't let it happen and he's not actually very good at running anything.

LoganRoy · 17/05/2023 10:00

I thought Darwin was faking the wasabi bit in case they were going to try and make him go on camera and explain why they were calling Wisconsin. And Roman and Kendall looked sceptical.

Netaporter · 17/05/2023 11:16

100% I think the next episode will be that ATN have called it incorrectly, ATN’s credibility tanks and thus its value which they need to go ahead with the Pierce purchase.
