The trailer has just been released and I can’t wait!

It’s probably my favourite programme atm so it’s a shame it’s ending but I’d rather that than it getting repetitive and dragged out.

Complete speculation- did Greg do the wasabi thing on purpose and then compound it with the canned drink? As a sort of benevolent sabotage?

That was my first thought in that moment too!

XelaM · 15/05/2023 21:34

I don't know why but I found Kendall very hot in this episode 😍

'Also. The wasabi.🤣🤣🤣'

And the 'lemon water' 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

Absolutely none of the tension was derailed by that bonkers moment. Such brilliant writing

Loved this moment 😂

We only have 2 episodes left, right?

Next episode sounds like it’ll be the funeral .

So that in itself (will the mother turn up?), the brothers knowing about Shiv’s betrayal and Tom knowing Shiv is pregnant, I’m guessing it’ll be loaded with personal stuff.

will the final episode be solely focused on the actual Succession?

they really did manage to turn Roman into the most villain of them all, didn’t they?

thank god for Greg’s wasabi-gate and fake snorting to provide us with a bit of always welcome comic relief.

Netaporter · 15/05/2023 21:57

‘we’d be like dickless eunuchs in cocktown” 😂

MayIDestroyYou · 15/05/2023 22:38

Oh … Now we can talk about Ep8 - (and having seen the trailer above) I want to talk about next week’s little off-the-shelf funeral! Presumably it will stretch across the final two episodes?

But today - Shiv’s face … Just for a moment I was glad I wasn’t her. Also, Sarah Snook is now so obviously pregnant it’s stretching credibility that that Shiv’s brothers don’t know.

LadyWhineglass · 15/05/2023 22:42

I respectfully and politely disagree. I know men who are far up their own Rses they wouldn’t notice anything different about anyone else because it wasn’t happening to them.

I was thinking that about Roman even though he was on the side of the fascist 😬

JaneFondue · 15/05/2023 22:58

"So just because we had too much chicken I should suppprt
the fascist?
Well, yeah!" 😀Only Kieran Culkin could deliver that convincingly.

If there is any justice in the world let Kieran get his Emmy this year. Everybody else has theirs.

FiftyNotNifty · 15/05/2023 23:03

So much Gregging in this episode!

What did Kendall say at the very end?

Some people just can’t cut a deal, Fikret”

HollyBerri · 15/05/2023 23:13

can someone explain to me how they can call the election? I don’t get that bit- surely its done on votes?

WhathaveIdoneagain · 15/05/2023 23:20

What have they done?! There is no way I can follow the next US election after this.

@HollyBerri It is only just projection at this stage, but in politics it has a tendency to give you momentum. Jimenez will be branded a loser, unwilling to concede - no matter the actual result. Fox (oops ATN) has a loyal following, and they do not follow CNN or whatever to check their coverage. To them, the election is over.
Mencken's fans are already rioting, what is going to stop them?

slamfightbrightlight · 15/05/2023 23:24

And they (as in the kids) don’t really lose anything by calling it, do they? Tom takes the fall if the result is different, they’ve still got their in with Mencken, they were never going to have an in with Jiminez, and they’ve torched ATN ahead of Mattson buying the company.

Roman really rose to the top in this episode.

MarshaBradyo · 15/05/2023 23:52

Roman was very good in this episode

He’s good to watch

EachandEveryone · 15/05/2023 23:56

I was supposed to be having an early night but I couldnt stop myself. It totally makes a mockery of us doesnt it? Who can you trust? No wonder people turn to conspiracies and all the rest of it.

Can I just ask, is Shava Roy Jewish in the show? I wouldnt have thought about it but she said the anti semites are out there coming for her kid or something like that. I know Natalie Gold is in rl. Where is the little boy this season?

Netaporter · 16/05/2023 04:24

@HollyBerri the episode is supposed to mirror Fox News’ call on Arizona in 2020 when they called it for Biden who then won the state by the slimmest margin but it was a huge call made before any other network. At the time, Trump was calling voter fraud where there was no evidence of any such fraud. The episode is very timely given that the recent law suit against Fox News by the voter machine manufacturer showed evidence that Rupert Murdoch was instrumental on making the call for Biden winning Arizona at the time even tho its modelling programme had the margin being greater than it really was. Meanwhile Trump issued lawsuits in three states - hence the reference by the woman (can’t recall her name) to Tom about lawsuits in the episode and also Dar’s concern about what his modelling was actually showing. Yes the vote’s are what decides the election but calling it early by an agency which is supposedly impartial/has integrity controls the narrative of the election thereafter especially where margins are incredibly small so can’t really be disputed by other news agencies using their own modelling programmes and the candidate on the other side of the call is left unable to get back onto an even keel. In this episode we are supposed to imagine what could’ve happened in the US if Murdoch had called Arizona for Trump instead of Biden which given the final margin, he could’ve also done.

We have two eps left. My guess is ep9 is the funeral and the election night fallout. Ep10 is allegedly 90mins long and I guess with deal with the theme of succession and the go/no-go of the Gojo deal.

my theory is that Shiv will put the boot into her Brothers over the call by outing the decision without actual evidence Mencken had won. She’s then telling Mattson to bury his bad news on what will be a very busy news day so she hopes his made up India numbers won’t be noticed. Plus she has nothing left to lose at this point.

Regarding succession, I think one scenario is that it’s possible that Roman ends up wearing the Crown supported by Tom at ATN and the new president. Or in contrast ATN is left valueless when it emerges they’ve made the wrong call and the board steps in and replaces Roman/Ken for someone else with greater authority to stabilise the share price (Nan Pierce?) which tanks their deal to takeover Pierce after Gojo also takes a dive when the India numbers are noticed.

Anyway, so excited for 9&10!

XelaM · 16/05/2023 06:17

Roman and Kendall are superb in this episode.

Shiv really is not as smart as she thinks. Thinking she could fake making a call to Nate or that her empty threats to Greg would be effective? And I didn't expect Tom's cold reaction to the baby. I felt sorry for her here. She was clearly vulnerable. Greg is a real piece of work, but we all knew that 😂

XelaM · 16/05/2023 06:19

Does anyone else get the impression that Mencken won't actually deliver on his promise to tank the deal? I got the impression from his speech he intended to screw Roman/Kendall.

Absolutely! I wouldn't be trusting him an inch, although he will be heavily dependent on ATN support so maybe that will keep him in line...

MarshaBradyo · 16/05/2023 07:40

The Kendall scene with Shiv was excellent

When he knew she’d lied

JaneFondue · 16/05/2023 07:40

Shiv is not smart at all. The least smart of the Roys.

idiotfacelicker · 16/05/2023 07:43

Her reaction to getting caught was so poor. I actually don't think back stabbery is her natural instincts but feels forced into it because it's just the family way and all they know. Perhaps I'm giving her too much credit.
