if I had the time and the money to be obsessed with myself like they are in that film I'd have either no kids or plenty babysitters

I'm fed up hearing the media going on about this stupid film as if we are all interested in it

bag'o'shite if you ask me

Never watched any SATC, have no interest in it.

And why does the media seem to harp on about that Glee tv prog as well?.

silverdogflower · 29/05/2010 20:55

Never seen SITC - looks awful 'smug in the city' more like. Also hate all girly films and chick-lit. Think I am only woman to hate Mamma Mia. Love Actually was worst two hours of my life.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 29/05/2010 21:02

Also couldn't watch more than the first 5 mins of Mamma Mia, never seen SATC.

But do enjoy Marian Keyes chick lit.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 29/05/2010 21:07

I also hated Mamma Mia as well!. Thought I was the only one who detested that film!!.

fruitstick · 29/05/2010 21:27

I thought I was watching the wrong film when I watched Mamma Mia, was convinced there must be another released which was actually good.

When Pierce Brosnan started singing I had to pause it and watch it in 2 goes. And it was the day before my due date so I was vulnerable to cheesy sentimentality!

allbie · 29/05/2010 21:50

You are so right bout mamma mia! My in-laws couldn't believe I thought it was crap. I have never watched sex in the city...the actresses are butt ugly for a start! Ha!

Mingg · 29/05/2010 21:51

I liked Mamma Mia, thought it was hilarious

frecklyspeckly · 29/05/2010 22:40

Now have to add I did not like Mamma Mia, agree totally fruitstick with the notion I could be watching a different film to the wonderful one the hype was all about. Meryl Streep, you should be ashamed of youself for that one.

On SATC, I used to like watching the series, but that didn't seem to have the popular appeal of the films. Nobody seemed bothered when the show finished for good on telly.

Even the kids at work aged 18 have been sucked in and they must have been 12 when it finished on TV. I cannot see the appeal it has for them when they usually think anyone older than 23 is more or less a coffin dodger.

TotallyWipedout · 29/05/2010 22:42

Have never watched either the SATC film or the TV show. The tiny clips I've seen have made me feel vaguely sick.

NoSexInOurCity · 30/05/2010 03:39

Won't be watching it. Can't anyways.

estar · 30/05/2010 11:04

I think it wrecked my friend's life. She spent so much of her time watching it (and other things like it) that she got her head messed up and couldn't see the good stuff in her own life. She had an affair which wrecked her marriage then she got dumped by the other man anyway.

I will never watch it.

LouMacca · 30/05/2010 11:57

allbie - blimey, if you think that Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrill are butt ugly I'd love to know who you think is attractive??!!

whistlejacket · 30/05/2010 15:47

Never seen it and bored with the hype around the film. I know that SJP's scrawny arms disturb me

frecklyspeckly · 30/05/2010 22:19

Thats one very serious post estar. I suppose it could get very depressing if you started comparing your own real life to the fantasy one /escapism of SATC and all the material things portrayed, etc.

AnnieLobeseder · 30/05/2010 22:25

Hate girly stuff, never watched it, never felt any impulse to do so. I only go to the movies if the film has big explosions in it.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 30/05/2010 22:37

Nope, no interest at all.

mamatomany · 31/05/2010 10:20

It was funny in places but the sequels are never the same, loved the gay wedding though.

topsi · 31/05/2010 11:06

Love it, lighten up you lot!!

feeimcgee · 31/05/2010 11:41

Saw it on Friday night and realised halfway through that it was the worst film I had ever seen. Wanted to walk out but was with friends and that would have been rude. Quite annoyed as I love the series, can only conclude that the actresses did this one purely for the money. It's far too over the top, and can't decide which gave me the baulk the most - the outrageous display of wealth or Samantha waving condoms in the street in a strict Arab country.

rainbowinthesky · 31/05/2010 11:46

I've never seen any either.

lilymolly · 31/05/2010 12:00

Loved the series

saw Film on friday night

It was shit

fell asleep during it

petisa · 31/05/2010 14:16

Working my way through series one as we speak. V funny and the episodes are only 23 mins long - perfect for a quick laugh and dose of escapism!

gtamom · 31/05/2010 15:58

Another one who was very disappointed in Mama Mia.

Kayteepee · 31/05/2010 22:15

Love it all! Like helyg above, my friends and I had a girly day yesterday, went for cocktails, saw the film, then a meal afterwards. It was a good fun day

PeggysEvilTwin · 02/06/2010 01:36

I tried, I really did. But it made me want to chew on my own arm. So I had to switch it off.
