if I had the time and the money to be obsessed with myself like they are in that film I'd have either no kids or plenty babysitters

I'm fed up hearing the media going on about this stupid film as if we are all interested in it

bag'o'shite if you ask me

a FEW episodes

Francagoestohollywood · 28/05/2010 14:35

But Expat, it's a telefilm, not real life! People can't be morally irreproachable (or sensible ) in a telefilm, unless it's the waltons... (but even the waltons were faultless, if I remember well)

Francagoestohollywood · 28/05/2010 14:35

weren't

TheMysticMasseuse · 28/05/2010 16:37

Also, very few people are morally irreproachable in real life .

I thought the way she treated Aidan showed just how good the show was. It wasn't afraid of portraying the heroine as a cheating cow, doing something that was so obviously wrong. Because that's real life.

Talking about the show makes me miss it as though I had lost 4 great friends.

expatinscotland · 28/05/2010 18:18

Yeah, a dumb ass TV show. The film would be just 2 hours of hella dumbness.

What a pile of wank.

Francagoestohollywood · 28/05/2010 19:19

Agree MM!!

Mingg · 28/05/2010 19:29

I'm thinking it will be 2 hours of fun - can't wait!

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 28/05/2010 20:00

been to see it this afternoon with DH. Brill. Much better than the first (though I did enjoy the first).

harpsichordcarrier · 28/05/2010 20:05

even thinking about this programme makes me feel nauseous
fabulously excoriating review in the Standard today... hold on

harpsichordcarrier · 28/05/2010 20:07

Sex in the City is ugly on the inside

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 28/05/2010 20:10

Have to say - Charlotte's story line is really good in the film, and I think its easy to identify to the way that she feels. There's a really touching scene between Charlotte and Miranda discussing motherhood which I thought was lovely and very similar to conversations I have with my friends.

SheikYerbouti · 28/05/2010 20:25

I couldn't give a shit about it either. And I don't like Sarah Jessica Horse Face.

Never watched Sex and the City. Have got the impression that it's mostly about shoes, although having never seen it I could be wrong.

Timbachick · 28/05/2010 21:29

Sooooooo totally agree with you. Just cannot see what all the fuss is about. It's a crap series about, frankly ugly, self absorbed women whose entire lives revolve around their own arses. Cannot to 'arsed' with it. SheikYerbouti - you are right, SJP dies have a horse face and StewieGriffinsmom - Jake is fantastically bare-chested in Prince of Persia ... if you have to sit through films for 10 year olds then they should all have a barechested Jake G in them!!

Just out from seeing satc2 with my girlies

was fab. Really enjoyed

went for a cocktail before hand and going for another one now

counted 4 men in the cinema. Sure they got dragged there. No man (unless gay) would go off his own back

nooka · 29/05/2010 06:59

Never watched more than a few minutes of SATC. It just looks so vapid and the characters so unpleasant and in any case I hate "chick" stuff. I am not interested in stupid shoes that are designed to torture feet, or sleeping around or cheating on men. None of that is in any way escapist to me, just irrelevant.

However having read that review I'm almost inclined to see the movie just for the rage factor

PuppyMonkey · 29/05/2010 08:41

I find them and the whole thing very zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Read the Guardian review of the new film and it looks like a proper turkey.....

DinahRod · 29/05/2010 08:55

Maybe it's only the meeja who are fascinated?

Dh did once say, "Who the heck is that?" when Sarah Jessica Parker appeared in close-up on a perfume advert - does that count?

PuppyMonkey · 29/05/2010 09:06

SJP in close up is not a pretty sight is it?

Love it myself. I don't take tv seriously. People like different things. I loved the first film and am looking forward to seeing the second one. Would have already if I wasn't ill.
