Are we really on a new thread already! Only seems like 5 minutes since the last one began.

Sarah is still in prison/on remand, (for killing Theo,) and is toughening up in there now, hanging onto snooker balls in a sock to hit someone with! One of the prisoners in there has been threatening her and her family if Sarah doesn't get Kit to help her son who is in trouble. (But Sarah has dumped Kit!)

Ma Driscoll has been getting jiggy with Brian! Ollie is in trouble for having a go at Gary's son who appeared to be assaulting Christina when she was drunk on the floor.

Tim reconnected with a cousin he hadn't seen for several decades, (Richie) who went on to kill his wife, and now Tim and Sally are looking after his daughter, and Lou and Mick's girls are back with Tim and Sally too!

We haven't seen much of Debbie lately - or Summer, which is a shame, but plenty of mardy Todd who hates the world right now.

Bernie's aunt has just turned up in the form of glamourous actress Frances Barber, and has only a few weeks to live. So she is hoping Todd can help her with a Dolly Parton themed funeral. R.I.P lovely Dolly! ❤

@LesserSpottedCharacter

Was the wee girl going to the sweep shop a different actress to the one before? Shanice, is it? I didn't recognise her but I've probably not paid that much attention before.

Oddly, I wondered something similar (about the little girl who went to the shop to get some sweets.) It was meant to be Joanie's younger sister - one of Lou's daughters ... (Shanice...?) I thought it was Eva's little girl at first (Susie,) as she was so chatty.... then I realised it was one of Lou's daughters. I can't recall her ever even speaking before, but last night she was very chatty.

“Recovery is a marathon not a sprint” says Bethany. Hahaha, not on Coronation st!!

😂

LesserSpottedCharacter · 12/09/2026 10:21

Yes @SabreIsMyFave , she had the same precocious (I don't mean that nastily) delivery as Suzie (?) which certainly made her more noticeable. It was her Big Moment 😊

I’m mid 30s and watch Corrie but I could be a rarity lol

Ah ha, I stand corrected LOL! 😆

Would be interesting to know the demographic....

I cannot see why young people would watch Corrie, the doom and gloom seems to fall heavily on the younger cast.

Literally any time they try and enjoy themselves something goes wrong. If they have a party some disaster occurs, same if they go out away from the street. If they get their own flat it is two minutes from their parents house. If they have sex they get strangled and have a stroke then lose their dream college place and end up at the local place.

Plus they're always being abused or impregnated.

eggandonion · 12/09/2026 11:36

I miss Audrey. I think the ownership and management of the salon is an issue. They shouldn't have killed Sam's mum. She could have a modern salon and a posh hair place for men and a long running affair with Nick. What was she called?
They need to reuse the health centre with a resident nurse on the street and a nice young doctor to assist Dr Gadass. And an std clinic would be useful. (Beffany...do you trust Kit...?)
People need to eat more chips and baked beans like they used to. And stop going to the Bistro all the time in a cost of living crisis. The Rovers needs a pie of the day.

mumofoneisonozempic · 11/09/2026 20:59

Or shes got borderline personality disorder, with trying to take her sisters life

Why can't they just let her be a bitch 🙄

Please don't stigmatise BPD.

Deadringer · 12/09/2026 12:01

Jodie may or may not have BPD, but I think she is just weird tbh, perhaps childhood trauma affected her development, who knows? Maybe with the dad coming into it they will unpick her childhood a bit, though i really hope they don't, the less Jodie the better for me.

eggandonion · 12/09/2026 09:08

Lucy is obviously deeply troubled and needs to go to a professional facility somewhere else. Tim has other relatives who could take her. Sally doesn't need another girl.
Jodie should be kidnapped in the camper van and driven back to Emmerdale .
It must be time for Sarah to get out of jail.

With the Lucy story it would hsvr been better using an existing character someone we know already and are invested it.

Sarah hasn’t even had her trial yet

Natasha

Lovely Natasha

Who some reason Nick dumped for Leanne

eggandonion · 12/09/2026 12:44

Yes Natasha. She could have lived in a fancy apartment and had a successful business.
Sarah must have wanted some time off...trials tend to be quick in Corrie. And a swift appeal.

turbomountain · 12/09/2026 13:50

There is nothing relatable to bring teenagers forward to watch though. I think we have to go back to Chesney and Schmichael dying for a relatable story. Even the quads was ridiculous.

Max - been in the STC, now in prison
Dylan - been in the STC, now part of a choking story, knife carrying and murder of Mason
Betsy - stoke caused by choking story
Lauren - sex trafficking story, accused Roy of murder from memory
Mason - been in the STC then murdered
Seb - murdered
Hope - dad was a murderer, started fires, violent outbursts
Ruby - relatively normal I think
Amy - raped
Will - groomed
Lucy - likely murdered her own mother
Tina McIntyre - murdered
Bethany - sex trafficking, stoma she’s forgotten about
Faye Windass - prison

I mean yes, some of these things happen and are real life but it’s so far fetched. I can’t see any teenager sitting down to watch.

Sorry! X

Wasn't trying to at all - imo the whole 'single white female' thing theyre doing with her is lazy, thats all!

Imo shes just a bitch!

TheSunIsAlwaysThere · 12/09/2026 14:15

I think the older well established cast members are too expensive. New people might be cheaper so that might be why they are given big story lines to entice them. Writers and producers, you have got this all wrong if that is the situation.

TheSunIsAlwaysThere · 12/09/2026 14:19

Lauren didn't accuse Roy of murder. He was accused of murdering her.

Another mid 30s Corrie fan over here 👋🏼
Ive watched it since I was a child, it was our family soap growing up and I’ve never stopped! Now watch with my 27 year old partner, we love it.

mumofoneisonozempic · 12/09/2026 15:03

I'm 34

I watched because I watched as a kid - come back for cosy season especially, for corrie and emmerdale

I am an eastender so thats always been watched

I think that, as a kid, i never gave a shit about the youth aimed storylines - i cared about the adult drama that was written well. Characters you knew like the back of your arm

I was young when Richard hillman was about, but it was so good I was hooked!

Sorry @SabreIsMyFave I still havent watched the classic corrie - hopefully on monday! X

I've been thinking for a while that all these newbies, probably apart from Ma Driscoll but who knows, will be a damn sight cheaper than the OGs.

I absolutely agree with your last sentence.

SabreIsMyFave · 12/09/2026 17:07

Ooooh, a few more 30-something Corrie fans on here now! Grin

That's true, but the young actors certainly don't need storylines to entice them. Most would be desperate for a part in Corrie! I know, because my DD and her partner are actors trying to find work.

TheSunIsAlwaysThere · 12/09/2026 19:12

Oh I know, but it will be an extra incentive. When I wrote it I knew there would be disagreement but that's okay 😀

Shona

Kit
Bernie
Dev
Hope
Ruby

Christina

Summer
Todd
Lily
Asha

I could live without
The Driscolls
Sarah
Bethany
Amy
Glenda
Brian
Rita
Leanne
Toyah
Nick
Idris
Alya
Eddie and his sons

I don't think Amy, Lily, Ruby or Hope have had any extreme storylines, but I guess all the other youngsters have had to deal with death, prison or kidnap.

ElsieJay · 12/09/2026 20:00

I like Hope and Ruby, also Amy and Asha (and Nina and Adi - was it their choice to leave ? )
Didn’t rate the Betsy actress initially, but she’s doing very well with the sex strangling / stroke plot.

Deadringer · 12/09/2026 21:47

Ruby does seem 'normal', but her mum abused Tyrone and died young, in prison I think. I suppose with regards to the older cast, there is only so much that can happen to one person, marriages, bereavements long lost dc etc, though if they focused on smaller, less ridiculous storylines they would get more mileage out of them.
