Are we really on a new thread already! Only seems like 5 minutes since the last one began.

Sarah is still in prison/on remand, (for killing Theo,) and is toughening up in there now, hanging onto snooker balls in a sock to hit someone with! One of the prisoners in there has been threatening her and her family if Sarah doesn't get Kit to help her son who is in trouble. (But Sarah has dumped Kit!)

Ma Driscoll has been getting jiggy with Brian! Ollie is in trouble for having a go at Gary's son who appeared to be assaulting Christina when she was drunk on the floor.

Tim reconnected with a cousin he hadn't seen for several decades, (Richie) who went on to kill his wife, and now Tim and Sally are looking after his daughter, and Lou and Mick's girls are back with Tim and Sally too!

We haven't seen much of Debbie lately - or Summer, which is a shame, but plenty of mardy Todd who hates the world right now.

Bernie's aunt has just turned up in the form of glamourous actress Frances Barber, and has only a few weeks to live. So she is hoping Todd can help her with a Dolly Parton themed funeral. R.I.P lovely Dolly! ❤

Now that Shona and Jodie’s dad has turned up we might get some answers to Jodie’s back story & behaviour.

Did we ever find out if Horrible Prison Officer (name forgotten) did actually bump off Cassie, or has that storyline petered out?

I was wondering about that! It just seems to have been forgotten.

Fingers crossed he might whisk her off home. Weren’t they visiting him in a hospice or hospital previously?
Jodie is a strange character- she’s so one dimensional. Tracy has been an absolute bitch to many people but she has so much humour we forgive her.
Lauren shows glimpses of being a good character if they just let her develop. She’s just stuck in the Rovers being thick, which, let’s face it, is a spot already filled by Sean! And Ryan’s stuck in the hotel. Bethany doesn’t do much out to of the flat. That’s the problem with Corrie, they shoehorn them into a one dimensional role and they never get out of it. For me, Debbie, Glenda etc are becoming silly, loud, girly characters with not much else to them. They all need to have broader ranges in their characters. Otherwise it just gets repetitive.

LesserSpottedCharacter · 11/09/2026 13:29

zanahoria · 11/09/2026 11:03

I think the problem on Corrie is that there are too many long term characters who are not trusted with a decent plot - the likes of Brian, Mary, Kirk and Sean have been reduced to one trick ponies who do the same turn every now and then. Even non joke characters like Maria hardly get a look in - asides from Big Ronnie the Baileys are not used -but newbies come in and are suddenly everywhere.

They need to decide if actors are good enough for the show long term and develop the characters, not have them waiting around to be victims terrorized by the latest panto villain.

This needs quoting rather than just 'liked' so that if anyone in Corrie production is reading it might be noticed and considered as a subject for some thought, at the very least 🤞

Yes @RockinCara , a bit of depth would go a long way.

I was just thinking about Brian's delivery, he's always just a bit dopey now, I assume as an attempt to make him funny, which he isn't really. He can do serious or thoughtful, he can do dealing with an issue that doesn't have to be a major drama. As so many of the actors can. Interesting storylines don't have to be dramatic. I know a regular wage is welcome as a performer but it must be a tad unfulfilling for them churning out such lightweight work for so long.

As well as being a bitch Traceyluv has a vulnerable side something one dimensional Jodie hasn’t

Who would you all nominate for a Corrie
Cull
?

Pretty much everyone on your list is perfect for the chop.

Trouble is they are trying to appeal to the younger generation with all these new youngsters appearing actors who have no depth. Would be interesting to know what age group actually watch Corrie im thinking mainly older viewers. The younger viewers like Hollyoaks and Enders. A lot of the characters now have no discerning storylines and need to go. My list would be:
Sean, Izzy, Lucy (worst actress ever), Shona, Toyah, Alyia and Adam (zero chemistry), Rita and Brian (in fact they should shut shop entirely), Dev but keep Bernie, Ed (but keep Ronnie), Daniel, Kevin and gormless Jack, Fizz and girls, dull Maria, I’m sure there are more !

Quoted, with pleasure !
Great idea, @LesserSpottedCharacter , let’s hope our comments reach the powers that be .
Agree that Tracy’s vulnerable side makes her much more interesting - would argue that Glenda and Christina have this too, and Debbie has been amazing, she will be missed .
Don’t enjoy the frequent OTT “girly gang “ scenes, the first time was funny but getting repeated too often - lazy writing again .
Dev and Bernie have grown on me as a couple- though she can irritate at times I think she plays her part well .
I had to Google both Izzy and Daniel , which says it all really ! Both had totally dropped off the radar.
I think Corrie is a bit like M & S , desperately trying to appeal to a younger generation who will never, ever be their core customers.

AmusedMaker · 11/09/2026 14:26

Never Liked Bernie. Wouldn’t miss her if she left.
Wouldn’t miss hardly any of them tbh, apart from Kit & David.
And I like Ma Driscoll, Ben & Eva ( rest of the family are boring / annoying )
Sally & Tim can stay too.
That’s about it.

LesserSpottedCharacter · 11/09/2026 15:48

The only one I would be properly upset about leaving would be David, for his occasional incidentals that make me laugh out loud. I do wonder if they are written for him or if he is able to have some input to a scene. I see a similarity between his character and him when he was on Sleb BB - they both drink a lot of tea 🍵

JewelleryCat · 11/09/2026 20:44

Do we think Jodie will be diagnosed bipolar like her dad?

RockinCara · 11/09/2026 20:45

“Recovery is a marathon not a sprint” says Bethany. Hahaha, not on Coronation st!!

JewelleryCat · 11/09/2026 20:46

I hope Betsy isn’t having another stroke

mumofoneisonozempic · 11/09/2026 20:59

Or shes got borderline personality disorder, with trying to take her sisters life

Why can't they just let her be a bitch 🙄

RockinCara · 11/09/2026 20:59

Lucy did that mark herself. She’s another Jodie!
Its really annoying that, even after several months, we don’t know what Jodie is up to.

JewelleryCat · 11/09/2026 21:01

@RockinCara if the writers ever let us in on why Jodie is doing this, I’m not sure we’ll care because we think she’s a pointless character

RockinCara · 11/09/2026 21:25

It will probably be something absolutely underwhelming and boring. Not worth the wait.

turbomountain · 12/09/2026 00:54

i agree with the comment above. Jodie will have bipolar.

Please no more issues

No more long lost relatives

and no more boring back stories

They need to build characters on screen otherwise it means nothing

TheSunIsAlwaysThere · 10/09/2026 20:48

I suppose the actress is doing a good job if most of us hate the Jodie character.

I don’t particularly hate her I just find her annoying.

SabreIsMyFave · 12/09/2026 09:01

Last night's episode was OK, but like most people on here, I am sick of the long lost relatives (often who have never been mentioned before!) just turning up, and suddenly being involved in a big storyline, and also newbies coming in and also immediately being involved in a big storyline. (Like with the Driscolls and Will being groomed by shiny faced Megan. This storyline happened immediately..) As has been said, why are the older, more well known characters not being given any proper storylines? (Well, hardly any!)

Problem is, as this thread, and the slump in viewing figures prove, they need to let characters settle in first, and let us see their personality, because we don't care about someone who has only just come in. Does anyone actually care about Undead Becky being suddenly axed from the show? Nope. No-one cares, because she was a dreadful character. Just like Jodie, she was always just 'there,' kept appearing randomly, and never seemed to have a permanent place to live, any belongings or clothes and so on, and no source of income. Ludicrous characters with ludicrous storylines.

I thought Undead Becky was a bad character, but I think Jodie is worse, and not in a panto villain kind of way, she is just a dreadful character with no depth and who makes no sense. Agree also about Lucy who Tim and Sally are fostering, she's awful, and a bad actress. And I agree that she did that mark on her wrist herself.

Exactly this. ^

I agree also with the comments about there being too many storylines revolving around very young people, when the demographic of Corrie viewers is mostly over 40. (I am pretty sure it is anyway!) No-one I know in their 30s or younger watches Corrie.

I wasn't actually shocked when it didn't win an award at the NTAs the other night. I don't think it's deserved it this past year, with the storylines they've had. The Undead Becky one was abysmal.

eggandonion · 12/09/2026 09:08

Lucy is obviously deeply troubled and needs to go to a professional facility somewhere else. Tim has other relatives who could take her. Sally doesn't need another girl.
Jodie should be kidnapped in the camper van and driven back to Emmerdale .
It must be time for Sarah to get out of jail.

turbomountain · 12/09/2026 09:09

I suspect Sally is going to be accused of neglect and or abuse next or the girl is going to lash out at her.

LesserSpottedCharacter · 12/09/2026 10:09

Was the wee girl going to the sweep shop a different actress to the one before? Shanice, is it? I didn't recognise her but I've probably not paid that much attention before.

I'm glad Betsy wasn't having another stroke, that wasn't nice to see. Again, she was in and out very quickly.

JewelleryCat · 12/09/2026 10:16

@SabreIsMyFave I’m mid 30s and watch Corrie but I could be a rarity lol

@zanahoria it was me who made the bipolar comment because otherwise why would the father have been brought in now?

I wonder if Sue Nichols will ever come back, it’s been 10 months since she was last on screen according to DS
