Just watched 20 minutes of episode 1

Love it.

@murasaki
its those exact two characters that I find cringey!

Ha, I knew it! I love Philomena, especially since an ex colleague of mine was in it, to be fair, her bullshit detector was strong, unsurprisingly to me, but am not that keen on Mandy....

Give it a try.

loveagift · 07/08/2026 16:52

I binge watched this, thought it would be bad but loved it.

the80sweregreat · 07/08/2026 17:04

I like Cunk , but Mandy was far too surreal for me and only watched one. I liked her as Liz in motherland.

I was the same. This has won me over to Morgan.

I want to watch it because I love Sue Johnstone, but I really can’t stand Diane Morgan. I find her very cringy

I can't stand her either, usually. But I did enjoy Ann Droid. It wasn't what I was expecting, I was pleasantly entertained.

NeedAnyHelpWithThatPaperBag · 07/08/2026 18:42

I heard the snippet promos for it and wasn't sure, but decided to give it a chance and was glad I did. It's better than it sounds, lol.

We like Cunk , except the last one but I disliked Mandy , we watched a few and I can’t quite recall why we gave up but it may have been a bit too disgusting / crude I think . She was excellent in Motherland .

I just found the Sue! Sue! Sue! motif so funny!

Bloody love Diane Morgan!

Comedy Genius.

I'm absolutely sick of seeing Sue Sue Sue on social media when it never appeared again after halfway through episode 2. It really wasn't THAT funny! In fact she said Zoo Zoo Zoo if you listen carefully.

Show itself is really amusing though, enjoying it a lot. Watching in TV time trying not to binge.

Binger here as well.

I was the same as many here in thinking that it looked naff from the synopsis and trailer, but gave it a go.

Really enjoyed it overall. But found myself zoning out whenever it was a Michael and Renee bit, I really wasn’t interested in them.

Sue Johnston and Diane Morgan were brilliant. Genuinely funny and poignant moments between them. And the rest of the cast were great too. That chap who plays Phyllis’ husband seems typecast as a bit of a perv going by everything I’ve seen him in!

Lord Ashfordly from Heartbeat.

Lord Ashfordly from Heartbeat.

Yes! I didn't think he was typecast as all I know him from is heartbeat, and he's not like that on there.
I was shocked that he didn't look older - I thought of him as being pretty old when he was on heartbeat but he's only 68 now!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/08/2026 11:20

He was in Four Weddings and a Funeral over 30 years ago playing a not dissimilar part and not looking that much younger! Currently has a role in The Archers playing another unpleasant type. I'm sure he's delightful in real life.

Netcurtainnelly · 08/08/2026 12:20

I'm fast forwarding through the Renee and girlfriend bits.
Would be great if Ricky Tomlinson's was in it?

You saying they should do a comedy when they have

I mean now not the Royle family.

KeyboardMonkey · 08/08/2026 16:13

Came on specifically to big up this comedy! I wouldn't have watched it because the only time I saw it advertised, the trailer looked a bit rubbish. A friend who's sharp on good new stuff recommended it and I'm glad - it's well-written for some lovely actors and I genuinely laughed out loud.

TheSmellOfSea · 08/08/2026 18:42

Just watching episode 4 again. Phyliss plays a fantastic drunk.

DH wouldn’t watch it as he thought it looked a bit rubbish after watching the trailer. I sort of twisted his arm, not literally, and he really enjoyed the episodes that we have seen so far. Now I’ve got DS on board too.

Sausagenbacon · 10/08/2026 23:37

I loved it. Such a great supporting cast as well. I loved professor Chris and the little friend who runs the charity shop. And Phyllis.

Umanresources · 11/08/2026 00:14

I’d like to see Sue and Linda travelling to places that meant something to Sue and her husband, like the camping one.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 11/08/2026 01:30

I feel about BBC 1 comedies the same as I feel like channel 5 dramas - not very much, but here I am cackling like a swamp witch 😂.
I thought Ghosts was the only thing to make me laugh on this channel.

Mungosteele · 12/08/2026 08:25

I would get a robot Linda for my MiL for its fact checking abilities alone:

”Margery! GB News is not a reliable news source!”

I think I would like one when I’m older and am going to set up a Linda fund now. My teenage daughter is fully on board with this plan.

NewAgeNewMe · 12/08/2026 08:27

Watched all the episodes. Loved it.

HelloDenise · 12/08/2026 11:13

I just received a phone call from my dentist's AI assistant which is called Linda!

Agreed - she's an absolute dream companion - just don't let her push you in the water when you are cold and lost in the woods 😂

I've just watched the last 2 episodes and feel bereft. How unusual to get funny and intelligent humour on the BBC.
