Just watched 20 minutes of episode 1

Love it.

Just finished it all, absolutely loved it!

Can I draw your attention to the co-writer of this and delivery driver Sarah Kendall’s Radio 4 series, and in particular this episode about a classmate of hers at school, and their friendship and a school trip to the beach? 30 minutes of storytelling, bittersweet, funny, heartbreaking, everything all together. Genius.

Thanks for this, I’ve just downloaded it for later.
And the penny has just dropped that Sarah Kendall was on Taskmaster a few years ago and she was brilliant! With her and Diane Morgan together, you can see why Ann Droid was so good.

I've just watched the camping episode. I have to say that I think the last few episodes haven't been as good as the first one though I'm enjoying it overall. However, one thing really annoyed me just now - they've gone to the campsite to watch the meteor shower because that's a dark place, and yet their tent is festooned with lights! This would ruin the experience for everyone. And yes, I know it's ridiculous of me to be annoyed by this!

We have just watched that one too and as a fan of meteor showers who has also gone camping in the hope of a good view I was inordinately annoyed at that too!

I've rewatched the whole series again! Just love it and am confident there will be a second series.

SweetBaklava · 31/07/2026 09:55

Another skeptic here who watched purely for Diane and Sue… we’re three episodes in and loving it! Myself and my teen DD were absolutely howling at the roller coaster scene, we had to pause for several minutes… and then the photo started us off again 🤣 Looking forward to the next three episodes.

the80sweregreat · 31/07/2026 10:23

I’ve seen a few twice now. It’s an easy watch and very poignant. A bit different

NeedAnyHelpWithThatPaperBag · 31/07/2026 18:30

I wasn't sure before I watched it, but it's a big thumbs up from me. As people have said, funny and poignant.

Watching Tonight

Newsenmum · 23/07/2026 18:50

I actually disagree and liked the fact an 80 year old woman wasnt shown as ‘doddery’. Theyre not all, actually. And she did need help despite being very able in lots of other ways.

Tried watching it and loved the main 2 characters.. but simply cannot watch until her son's character gets written out.. whomever created this wimpy whining annoying twat needs sacking.. makes my skin crawl. Until he's written out of it I won't be watching any more episodes ever.. bet Northern humour.. but I could probably enjoy it if this moron wasn't in it.

Netcurtainnelly · 31/07/2026 22:37

Didn't enjoy tonight's. Scenes with the son and his guitar etc at the end I was willing it to hurry up.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 01/08/2026 10:13

I’ve recently started this, I love the stuff with Linda and Sue, but Michael and Renee can just bore off frankly

I agree. Michael is just too much like Kevin, which is a shame because Paul Ready is capable of so much more than reprising another character, and I just can't see the point of Renee - other than being the same as Kevin's ex/wife.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 01/08/2026 13:17

kevin is different,
he loved his children
michael is rubbish to his mother, does nothing

Netcurtainnelly · 01/08/2026 13:29

Get rid of Michael and Renee.

I rewatched and fast forwarded those bits. Boring and annoying. I knew the song was going to be one already known 🤣

Yep agreed! Myself and DD finished watching last night, and didn’t think M&R added much to it. Would happily watch a second series and hope they get rid of that pair, or minimise their roles.

Fransgran · 01/08/2026 15:46

The first thing I ever saw Paul Ready in was The Terror, about ships getting frozen in ice while looking for the Northwest Passage. It was good. He was the ship's doctor. When I later saw him on Motherland, I thought "Oh, he can do comedy too." He's a lot more versatile than you'd think if you just saw him on Motherland and Ann Droid.

Yes he's like Kevin's nasty twin

Yes - but both are useless

cramptramp · Yesterday 11:20

Just started watching and I like it much more than I thought. I love that Kevin is in it!

JMSA · Yesterday 14:50

I’ve just binged this and am on the final episode. I’ve loved it. I usually go for thrillers, so it’s actually refreshing to watch something funny and uplifting for a change! Well, funny-ish. It’s more of a chuckle than a belly laugh for me.
Thing is though, I’m only interested in Sue and Linda, not all the side characters. The annoying, manchild, loser son and his wife are about as funny as toothache.

JMSA · Yesterday 14:54

Oh, I see I’m not the only Michael and Renée hater. I wish this could be fed back to Diane Morgan.

murasaki · Yesterday 15:00

Yes, the hive mind, of which I am part, seemed to go.

  1. Don't particularly like the premise, but do like the 2 main actors and writers so will try it
  2. Love it, binged it, will there be a second series, also , why did they drop SueSueSue so early!
  3. Bin off Michael and Renee.
